Here is my #dropshot tip for all my fellow bank anglers out there: Use a leader that is twice as long as the depth that you wanna fish. Example, if you know the fish are suspended 8" off the bottom, use a 16" leader. When you're reeling in, your 16" leader will put you about 8" off the bottom
This year I’m going to force myself to learn to #Dropshot. I even got a new rod and reel that I plan to use as a dedicated outfit for it. Thanks for another informative video, Hank. I’m not sure if I could handle the information overload of five videos a week, but I’d sure try. #BassGeekNation #BassGeekRocks!
Dropshot is the only technique I've truly mastered. I pull pressured fish all the time. So many baits can be used and you can keep it in front of picky fish indefinitely. Works great for bedded fish also. Even if they are slow to bite you can get a territorial bite if you piss them off enough with it
I'm new to bass fishing and I seen alot of vids but the way u explain things are on point, I'm a old head also and simplicity is key for me, thanks bro
Nice work and presentation man. I didn't learn anything new but I've been dropshotting for about 35 years now. I was doing it when they just called it a bottom rig! LOL. Really appreciate your channel and If you did 5 videos a week I think it would burn you out..2-3 vids a week would keep everyone interested and allow you to keep your sanity!
Great tip video, saw something pretty cool the other day. It was a Blakemore live shot'n. Looks like a baitfish fly, it was designed for a drop shot rig. Check them out they look like they would be awesome in cold clear water.
#dropshot I tend to fish drop shots in more ponds than the river. It could be simply psychological, but I prefer the pencil weights. "...so far today, they ain't responding to SQUAT!" I love it, dude!
I own more #dropshot gear than any 10 anglers need to have, but I don’t recall ever catching a fish on it. I guess I need to use it when the bite is on to gain some confidence in it. Your video helps: thanks
#Dropshot as always excellent information BassGeek. I’ve tried the drop shot one time, but I probably had my leader way to long for what I was fishing. We do a lot of pond fishing in the winter and after watching your video I definitely had it to long. Thanks again #favoriteyoutuber.
I was killin it around docks with the #dropshot last spring/summer. Haven’t done much with it over the winter, mainly because the wind has been up every time I go out on the kayak, making it difficult to fish vertical.
#dropshot, i'm really happy about the possibility of having Bass Geek more frequently for sure. It would be awesome to have you 7 days a week!LOL , I know you'll make the right decision for you but yes the possibility of having greater access to your knowledge is very exciting.
It's painful to move (or not to move) a bait that slow. If I had started Bass fishing in the winter, I probably wouldn't of been bite by the bug. Not to mention I would've saved several thousand dollars.... Good video, informative & useful as usual. Tight lines buddy.
hahahaha yeah but once you get a bite then you just want to fish all the time. Now I even like to fish when it just sucks during the winter. Looking for that bite we all need. hahahha
@@BassGeek I'm a lost cause, even a double digit bass hasn't scratched my itch. Although this winter I've picked up Carp fishing. They are huge & abundant in my region. It keeps me from going mad till pre-spawn.
#dropshot I really got into fishing this technique last summer . I also have very deep clear lakes I fish . The question I have is when the fish are out deep 50+ ft of water and you go to the heavier weights like a 1/2-3/4 oz . Do you still throw it on spinning gear or do you switch to say a medium power casting setup . Most medium powered spinning setups are rated to 1/2-5/8 oz lures . I guess MH spinning rods usually rated to 3/4 but still seems heavy . Especially local here the onky heavy weights for drop shots I can find are lead . They are pretty big . Tungsten I can find up to 3/8 and thats it .
#dropshot...my favorite technique to fish..I've literally fished for pan fish all my life using the dropshot and a piece of a wire hanger as my weight..throw a piece of nightcrawler or red worm on the and ull be frying fish before the night is over
#dropshot When you're throwing that from the bank, do you want your hook a little higher since your line is at less steep of an angle? By the way, I would LOVE 5 vids a week, mostly because I love it when a man walks away from a money master and becomes his own boss. True American freedom!!!
Thanks I would love to walk away but it might be a minute. I'll need all the support from you guys I can get. Depending on how steep the bank is yes. Use a longer leader but don't go crazy.
#dropshot ... Not a fan of the dropshot, but it can work when everything else fails. Have you tried a swivel to sinker connection to reduce line twist, and/or a swivel 1-2 foot above the hook?
#dropshot not my favorite winter technique I'm more of a power guy. Keep it up. A good one to get out right now will be a muddy rising water video. Here in the south we ate getting massive amounts of rain and it's flooded all the lakes.
I really need to spend more time trying out the #DROPSOT technic. I've tried it a time or 2. But, never more than a drop or 2 and I'm on to throwing something else. Crazy I know. Because I know it catches fish and I've spent a lot of money buying stuff to do it with.
I catch a lot of fish on the drop shot. I haven't figured out how to get big quality bites on it. It's kinda turned into my limit getter when I'm running out of time . Any pointers on getting bigger bites?
#dropshot.... love the videos and it’s nice to see someone local doing what your doing... keep up the good work and as far as videos 5 days a week.. I say go for it!!!! Good job man!!
55 degree blue bird sky with 5-10 southwest wind. 46 degree water temp, fish setting up at 35 to 80 feet at 2-5 ft visibility. Highland reservoir, Navajo Dam. Drop shot and tight lining was the ticket. Get flick bud. #dropshot
Nice DS vid Hank! I know for me personally this fall and early winter, using the Z man streak Z on a casting drop shot, has been very good. :-) more weekly fishing vids? Uhhh yeah! Lol #dropshot
#dropshot great video and good advice on a ever growing popular technique , also more #bassgeek that would be awesome if you could get that worked out I actually touched based with you about you doing that at the Raleigh expo
#dropshot Great video as always, 5 days fishing is a lot but your information will be very helpful I'm sure. Thanks for all your advice appreciate it and keep the videos coming great job.

I'm more comfortable with it fishing it vertical than casting it.
I'm new to bass fishing and I seen alot of vids but the way u explain things are on point, I'm a old head also and simplicity is key for me, thanks bro
Awesome thanks. I'm an old head for sure.
I would not have thought to fish the drop shot with such a short leader but makes total sense. Good stuff!
Awesome happy I could give you a different outlook on the rig.
the dropshot is one of my go to's for smallmouth!
No you don't! You don't have to lie to be my friend! lol Cause we already friends.
great video. I have never tried that way to fish the dropshot. definitely going to try it
Good in the summer to.
And absolutely love to see 5 videos a week brother
Thanks It's something we are thinking about.
More Bassgeek through the week
Thanks.

@@BassGeek Well played sir....Well played
Another thing I have not tried yet. Thank you
Go get'em man.
Heck yeah - more the better! Plus love to fish with ya in the future!
hahaha thank you.
I want to see some live videos from the water!!!
I hope they are coming.

Hahaaha I like the pencil weights around grass a lot. Thanks.
Great how-to vid buddy, keep it up!
Thanks man
Some folks hate on the #dropshot but when the bite is hard the #dropshot is a go to. Great video 👍🏻
Thanks I like it more as a vertical bait but it works casting.
Got my drop shot box from Karl's this month too. When the water clears up, I'm going back to dhl
Go Gett'em!

Yes if you have time to do more. I enjoy watching the tutorials.
Thanks
Awesome thanks.
Not sure why I don't #dropshot more, still catching fish on jerkbaits but soon as it gets tough going to get back to it
I love a jerkbait. It's a go to for me
I learned how to #dropshot last year can’t wait to try it again this year thanks for more for tips

#dropshot. Boat is ready, temp was 73 today, but the wind was gusting to 30+mph. Weather has sucked like every Feb. in SW MS.
Dang 73! I'm so ready.
Great video Hank ! I always learn something about lurer fishing 🎣 here. HOOKEM in the mouth!

I do still toss it one a spinning rod because I still use 8lb test. I hardly ever go to 3/4oz however.
I am going to the Fisherville va show it is about 4 hours from my home .
Awesome I'll be at the BassMunitions Booth.

No but that’s basically what a spin shoot hook does

It would be awesome! Thanks
#dropshot , really like on thw water instructional vids! Keep it up Hank!

I can't wait until summer. I've got some crazy stuff I hope so show you all.
#dropshot More on the water of bassgeek! 5 days a week you gonna wear yourself out but as a viewer that would be awesome!
I know we always say "if we could fish 5 days a week we could catch'em all the time to." I want to find out.
A technique I need to work on #dropshot.
I'm getting better with it.
Hey you won the box! Send me your address and I'll get it out. Email me bassgeek.biteme@gmail.com
What’s the difference in a #1 and a 1/O hook?#dropshot
it's a smaller hook. So once you get down to 1/0 they then drop to #1 #2 etc.
#dropshot I feel the pencil weights are less to get snagged in rock.
In my experience it’s the exact opposite. Teardrops seem better in rock for me
#dropshot ...#bassgeek bringing the knowledge and great channel to learn to bass fish.
Thank you sir.
#dropshot thanks for the info. I have not fished the drop shot much but I'm going to try it this weekend
Good luck.

Yeah I do need to do them more often. I just work a weird schedule so setting a time for live is tough.
#dropshot love the videos, this one is very helpful, dropshotting is my weakness. Keep up the good work!
It's not a way I like to fish unless it's vertical.
#dropshot great video. Learn something every video. Thanks!
That's what I hope for. Thank you.
#dropshot great video brother thank you for the info on the drop shot needed this

#dropshot. In the summer I’ll fish every day. But I’m retired:)
Oh how I wish I could.
