It is so important that you find a video like this that affirms of what you have been doing is exactly what was explained here. This is the kind of "break" I was also doing to my students. Finding their own way to make melody of their own with simple chord patterns. It is really effective. 🥰

  • @angeladavis891

Because of you I can now improvise Greensleeves...using A, G, F and E base chords with left hand...and picking tune out with treble right hand. Before I could play many tunes in major key base chords with left hand using what you are doing here. It is a wonderful way to relax between learning pieces from sheet music. You're a star Jazer!

I'm not a professional, but I enjoy playing for my own enjoyment. The best teacher I had also emphasized theory. Knowing chords, cadences, key signatures, etc has been invaluable! I just turned 70 and have a love of piano music.
From the Classical, to Movie score, to Jazz and finally to tradition Chinese music play on the piano. (Example, “The butterfly lover,” “The Bund.”)
What you had show me, in your UA-cam, is that
I can still learn how to play the piano at my age.
Maybe not playing the heavy Classical music but definitely early twentieth century French composers, (Ravel, Debussy.)
So, thanks for the seven insightful things you wishes you had learned in starting to play the piano. (I don’t feel intimidated anymore)
