    For baking, you may use your home oven. There are no toxic fumes released. If you plan, however, to make it a regular thing I suggest purchasing a toaster oven dedicated to sculpey clay.

    Very GOOD note saying to let it completely cool before handling!! I made the mistake of messing with it while it was still hot. What happens it its EXTREMELY soft when it comes out of the oven. I also found that you should condition the clay EVEN when it seems already soft (some clay does) You will always have better results when conditioning. Also, if the clay has to sit for longer then a day, it should be reconditioned having lost its conditioning from sitting. Thanks for sharing this video! ☺

    To keep clay from sticking to the rollers, use a couple of sheets of wax paper. You may need to adjust your settings slightly so that the clay isn't rolled to thin. If the clay piece is too large, it will stretch out beyond the rollers when flattened. If it looks as if your piece is going to do this, reverse the roll and pinch off the excess.

    NekoHoshi1010 Polymer clay has to be fired or reach a temperature over 250 degrees Fahrenheit to fully cure. You can achieve this with either a home oven or a toaster oven. Polymer clay is not the only clay on the market, it is just the one highlighted in this video. There are also ceramic clays, air dry clays, foam clays, and modeling clays. You can visit our website for more information on other types of clay. If you would like additional assistance, please feel welcome to contact our Product Information team at 1-800-933-2542

      How long do you have to put the clay in the oven,and would clay softener make the vlay easier to use/mold?

    • @Blick_Art
      @Blick_Art  10 років тому +1

      Shadow Killer Sculpey bakes at 275 degrees Fahrenheit for 15 minutes for per ¼”. Keep in mind that other polymer clays bake at different times and/or temperatures. You can find this information on the packaging or on our website. Yes, you can use the clay softener to make it softer or more workable. However, use it sparingly as too much can cause the clay to not harden properly. If you would like additional assistance, please feel welcome to contact our Product Information team at 1-800-933-2542

    @aeropostaleXgurlZ Hi - actually to make a color just mix two colors of the same type of polymer clay. It is never recommended to mix paint into polymer clay or bake acrylic paint.

    We had a problem with storing the clay in a plastic container, it melted it. This would have been useful information to know in a tutorial like this, as well I would like to know how to tell if you clay is done if the shape is irregular, like an octopus,,making the cooking time harder to determine.

    Yes - a toaster oven is a great option for baking polymer clay.

    @chibixcandy It is toxic, but you can clean the oven easy enough, just crank it to it's maximum temperature for 30 minutes or so, the chemicals will burn away.

    My handle keeps falling off and the clay is not coming out right it is going from the middle where u put it the it goes around on on of the cylinders or one of the rollers and not coming out .....is there anyway I can fix this

    The pasta machine is completely optional. If you want to roll out the clay without a machine, you can use a hand roller.

    I would like to ask you if we can mix sculpy III with premo or premo accent? or use it as a basic bid and cover with slices of canes made with premo, premo accent or Fimo? I would appreciate if you answer to my question, thank you.

    • @Blick_Art
      @Blick_Art  8 років тому +1

      +citronelle spriz Yes, you can mix brands without issues. Do take into account the baking temperatures and times though, as they do vary slightly between brands. Use the baking instructions for the clay that is primarily being used. If you have additional questions, you can reach Blick Product Information at 1-800-933-2542 or info@dickblick.com. Thanks!

    No - do not mix polymer clay with any other type of clay. It is important to use the same product if you are mixing colors as even different products within the same brand may have different properties and may not mix well.

      According to the official Sculpey polymer clay blog, it's perfectly safe to bake according to directions in the same oven where food is prepared. They do recommend cleaning your oven periodically: blog.sculpey.com/where-to-bake-polymer-clay
