Just watched all three parts. Well done. I will add this to my list to hike. Im a farmer so a thru hike on the AT is out of the question, but 18-25 days for this is doable at certain times of the year. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for sharing! The Pinhoti is my training trail (specifically the Cheaha wilderness section), so it was nice to see what the rest of the trail looks like. I plan on doing the AT in 8 years when my oldest daughter graduates high school and I’d actually prefer to start our hike by thru-hiking the Pinhoti as well!
Miss your videos so much decided to binge watch some of your old through hikes. I'm not sure why your through hike videos are so much more captivating than most. Well, I know it's the editing, but not sure what that magic formula is. Hope all is well with you and you're still living large.
Your videos are too notch Darwin. Your editing skills are very good and your content is second to none. But what always strikes me in your videos is your upbeat positive attitude. I enjoy every video of yours I watch and I’m sure to watch all the ads so you get as much revenue out of them as possible. Just my way of supporting other than watching and liking. Keep it up man your content is awesome wether it’s videos like this or gear reviews. Hope to see you out in the trail some day! Happy hiking!
Hey Darwin, thanks for the effort you put into the making of these great videos for us. You guys in the US are blessed with a wonderful peace of nature. Hope I can hike the Pinhoti one day. Greetings from Germany.
Thank you for taking us along with you Darwin. I love watching your awesome videos and it always makes me wanna go out there. No matter where! A lotta love from The Netherlands! Keep on hikin’
The section of the Pinhoti that goes through the Cohutta WMA is the only section of this trail that I’ve done, and I must admit, I am extremely impressed with this trail! I’d love to see more of it now that I wrapped up this section. I saw a hiker on the BMT near the Brawley Mountain Fire Tower a couple months back and he said he had come all the way from Flagg Mountain and was headed to Springer! I thought that was a really cool idea to connect the Pinhoti, BMT, and maybe even the AT! Not sure what his plans were beyond Springer (or if there were any) but I just thought that was an awesome idea! You could also go north on the BMT from that sign and continue on to the Smokies as well! Both would be incredible options. Just not crazy about those road walk sections of the Pinhoti I have seen! But a wonderful trail and community! Thoroughly impressed with the Pinhoti thus far!
Awesome man! You should give the Sheltowee Trace in Kentucky a look. 323 miles of beautiful KY backwoods. It passes thru 2 state parks and 2 national recreation areas. You won't be dissapointed!
Sweet ending! Congrats! Another trail conquered by Darwin! Thanks for sharing! See ya in the PCT! (There's a lot of cool people going this year by the way! 😉
Embarrassed to admit I didn't know it was there. Great vid. The daughter and I are planning to do the AT in 6 years. I will point see if she wants to add this. Would be fun conversation on Springer "So, did you come in on the approach trail?" Nah, we started at Flagg.
As I stated above, I saw lots of information where they are saying there are plans to connect the two trails officially. Not sure when, or how solid this idea is, but it would be cool.
I love the Pinhoti section in Talladega NF. It's been a few years but I seem to remember it being marked really well. I have never seen a guide books or maps for any of the rest of the trail. Maybe if there was more info out there more people would hike it and it would be as easy to follow as the AT. Some like to know more of what they are getting themselves into. Thanks for bringing us along on your journey!
Belated Happy Birthday Snuggles, I am sure you have had a proper celebration by this time. Darwin you are amazing I really enjoyed your Pinhoti Trail videos.
AWESOME VIDEO! GLAD YOU MADE IT SAFELY! THANK YOU FOR LETTING ME TAG ALONG! EVEN WITH THE RAINY / FOGGY WEATHER / MANY STREAM CROSSINGS IT WAS BEAUTIFUL TRAIL ! BE SAFE!
I live in Birmingham, AL and have done most of my long distance hiking on the Pinhoti. It certainly does have some tough hiking and lots of creek crossings. Most of my hiking has been between Hight Point Trailhead and Trammel Gap. I agree that the Pinhiti is good training ground for the AT.
Thanks for sharing this hike. I'm from Brazil and it's always cool to see other shorter trails in the US (I'm planning on the JMT in a couple of years) since any of the three spikes of the crown are too long (and costly) for foreigners =)
Thanks for making a video on the Pinhoti Trail! I'm pretty sure you're the first UA-camr to show a thru-hike on it. I live about 10 miles from the southern terminus and I love it out there. I leave for my AT thru-hike attempt in 3 weeks!
I enjoyed following you on the Pinhoti, and I think this video was a terrific way to end the series. Now that you've done the trail, and now that you've seen how little that has been written about it, you--and Snuggles, the writer--should consider publishing something definitive for people who want to follow you. And it was nice having you in Alabama. Come back any time.
As always, it was a pleasure trekking with you Darwin! I don’t know if I’d go for the Pinhoti at this time of year, looks like to much of a bog for me! I loved your videography, after going out for my first Canadian winter camp last week and filming myself I have WAY more respect for you and others who balance filming with enjoying the outdoors.
Great vid series. One thing that would put me off is the road walking. A few miles I can cope with but 20 or 30 jeez, I'd want to bring a folding bike!
Nice trail. At 70 I am just starting my trail walking adventures. I have been walking some trails in the Big South Fork with a younger friend (60). He plans on doing the AT in a year or two after some shorter trails. If I can get into shape, we may dot this trail come fall.
Cant wait till my son and I start this trail in May. We have done a lot of the sections but this will be our first long hike together. Love your videos! Happy hiking.
Great job brother awesome hike ! your beard and videos are an inspiration to us all , keep crushing it on all the trails and shout out from a fellow piece of hiker trash from little Rhode island
Hey man I'm from Alabama. I've done about 50 miles of the Pinhoti. I was super pumped when I saw that you were thru hiking the Pinhoti. Good luck with the PCT.
Darwin this was fabulous. Good editing and narration! I wish we could see some trail cooking, maybe a breakfast or a dinner sometime, just to get a sense for the part of thru hiking that’s most important- eating!!!
Excellent Vid Darwin and yes those legs look like they were extremely sore after you did 54 miles in 2 days The classic on the trail mistake use Zig instead of zagging I am pretty sure almost a 100% that an awful lot of people made that exact same mistake on that Junction And congratulations on finishing the trail and happy birthday to snuggles
We are loving all your vlogs! Congratulations on the Pinhoti Trail completion. Danny Long Stockings loved your original intro just as much as this one. How did you know you had taken the wrong direction? Keep hiking, Off Duty and Danny Long Stockings
Great video series. You passed right by where I live . Kept thinking about you, wondering how the trail was treating you, esp. the road walks, and those rainy days then!... Just wondering about the trail end...Would've liked to have seen you make it back to your pick up. Does the trail end in the middle of the woods at a trail intersection? Did you turn onto the BMT and hike to a road? Would've liked that ending. Very concise editing, good job, but could've been a little longer, more detailed IMHO. And I totally agree with one commenter: you and Snuggles should write the definitive trail guide book for the Pinhoti. It's needed.
Hi, I'm Luck a Polish man currently based in London UK and I have a question which is not directly related to this vide. Sorry ;). For many years now I've dreamt to do the throughike on the AT. Yet, I'm afraid that with my slow pace the whole thing may take me more than 6 months and this is a maximum length of US visa. Hence the question, Does anyone here knows a non American who did the entire AT ? If so, how did they do it ? I will be grateful for any answers. Thank you ; ).
Darwin! Fan and subscriber and total noon to hiking. You have convinced me to do the Pinhoti. It's "near" where I live. BIG QUESTION...so many trails I have looked at end in the middle of nowhere. When you hit the end of the Pinhoti how do you get back to civilization? Or do you just have to follow through with the AT?
Hi Darwin, just curious how did you realize you were not on the Pinhoti trail when you took the wrong turn? Judging by the sign I could see how that could have been confusing.
So, I looked up this trail after seeing your videos in the cue. Right away I found pages where they were saying there were plans to connect the Pinhoti Trail to the AT trail as like an official section to extend the trail. Have you heard of this? I personally think it would be awesome since you're saying the trail is just as good as the Whites, and ME. Any thoughts on this?
Hey Darwin, I would like to hike about a week of this trail, any suggestions on which part? I want to get some good climbs and crossings in and not too much road, but don't mind.
Darwin: Thinking about training on the Pinhoti , Mackaye and going to At to walk the Appalachian trail about 2500 miles. Maybe start in February on the Pinhoti to get the trail legs. What do you think? Any advice might you have. Leo Wolf
Hi Darwin. First, congratulations on finishing the trail. I'm impressed with your working through all of the challenges. Thanks so much for these videos. I posted a comment 10-12 days ago about me going to hike the Pinhoti later this month. I have decided to hike the northern most 70 miles of the Pinhoti and then take the BMT to Springer. You said you might put some more details about Pinhoti on you’re website. You still plan to do that? Other than the one place you got lost. Is it blazed pretty well?
Thanks for introducing me to a trail so close to my home. One thing I would like to know: how often did you pass or overtake other hikers? Was this trail the epitome of solitude or were sections of it a playground for families? This might be good information to include in all of your videos on a trail. I’ve also wondered how crowded the AT or some of the trails through the Pisgah are. Keep up the good work!
Darwin onthetrail Do you take your shoes off or change shoes before or after a water crossing. Doesn't it suck hiking in wet socks and shoes? i was thinking some water shoes would be a valuable addition for water crossings.

I love the way you embraced the suck on day 17 when you got lost. As you said the trail wanted you to spend one more day on it. Hike on bro
I'm glad to see someone else gets sidetracked every now and then too. Good video. Thanks
It happens to us all!
Hike On,
Darwin
Hey Darwin, thanks for the effort you put into the making of these great videos for us. You guys in the US are blessed with a wonderful peace of nature. Hope I can hike the Pinhoti one day. Greetings from Germany.
Thanks for covering this little known gem. Glad you saw some hospitality down here. Will definately be investigating the Pinhoti further
No Prob! Thanks for Watching!!!

Thank you for taking us along with you Darwin. I love watching your awesome videos and it always makes me wanna go out there. No matter where!
A lotta love from The Netherlands! Keep on hikin’
As an Alabamian living in Georgia I'd love to someday do the reverse and hike home. :) Great trail vid. Welcome to both of my homes.

That's exactly what a triple crowner my partner and I encountered on the Pinhoti told us ... that it was an excellent prelude to the AT
Awesome man!

Kevin N LOL, I meant we plan to START in 6 years.
Hi from Holland, thank you for sharing this trail adventure
I live 15 minutes from John’s mountain. I’m out there all the time! It was exciting for me to see that part of the trail on your video
I love the Pinhoti section in Talladega NF. It's been a few years but I seem to remember it being marked really well. I have never seen a guide books or maps for any of the rest of the trail. The classic on the trail mistake use Zig instead of zagging
I am pretty sure almost a 100% that an awful lot of people made that exact same mistake on that Junction
And congratulations on finishing the trail and happy birthday to snuggles
Just watched this and saw footage from a mile up the road. I’ve got to attempt a through hike.
That's quite a haul! You deserve a ride and some rest! Glad you got one of those! Beautiful footage! Keep on trekking!
Congrats! Eventually, can you do a post mortem on what worked and what didn't? Gear-wise or anything else. Thanks!
Congrats on the Pinhoti! Happy Birthday to Snuggles!
Congratulations Darwin!!!!! You made it 💪🏼!!! Can’t wait for your next adventure! Hike on brother!
Great little video series. Can't wait to see you do the Pacific Crest. Keep On Truckin.
Great video Darwin! You inspire me to get out there and hike more!
NICE!... NOW GET OUT THERE!
Hike On,

If it wasn't for this pesky thing called work I'd be out there. I'll be hitting up a segment of the AZT this weekend though!
I go the wrong direction hiking often, man. I am so thankful to live in the time of GPS phones and hiking apps👍
You are an inspiration Darwin!
We are loving all your vlogs! Congratulations on the Pinhoti Trail completion. Danny Long Stockings loved your original intro just as much as this one. How did you know you had taken the wrong direction?
Keep hiking,
Off Duty and Danny Long Stockings
Thanks Guys!.... It was my Hiker Trash Spidey Sense....lol
Hike On,

I would absolutely love to do this trail.

Great videos! Thanks for taking us along, love the editing and the music ☺ ☺☺ can't wait to see your videos for the PCT ☺
Awesome. Congratulations Darwin! I can't wait for the next one. Greetings from Hong Kong.
You should document the elevation gain, if any, as well as the miles. Great channel. Best of luck.
Similar to Baker Trail in pa with all the road miles. but still a great through hike through Amish country!!
Hey Darwin, loved the video's man. Thanks for taking us on a good adventure. Can't wait to see the PCT. Stay safe and good adventures man.
Thumbs up to your new trip video editor.
Great information for my hike of the Pinhoti end of Aug. 2021.

Always thinking of you Gusto!
Hike On,

LOL...Awww shucks!
Yay Darwin! Looking forward to the PCT! Hike on!
Great Job Darwin! Thanks for sharing the experience! Ready to kick off the PCT!
Awesome! Thank you for taking us along.
What an awesome video! I really enjoy your enthusiasm.
Bravo!!! Congrats Darwin and thank you for documenting this trail. Cheers!
Wow! I would have provided trail magic if I knew you were in Dalton Georgia sooner.
Awesome hike Darwin!!

Thanks for sharing your adventure, awsome. I noticed what looks like a few bits of duct tape on your tent. Is it normal ware and tare.
Still rocking the cnoc treking poles
Heck Yeah!
Hike On,

Nice I think I'm going to get a pair

Thank you Darwin.
Great vids, like usual😆Thanks for sharing your journey🤘hike on
Awesome video man 🤙🏼
Thanks Buddy!
Hike On,
Darwin
Those last couple of days looked like the nicest scenery.
How many days did you have between resupplies?
good work, Donte
Hi Darwin.
First, congratulations on finishing the trail. I'm impressed with your working through all of the challenges.
I lived in Alabama in the 90s, and hiked the entire Pinhoti as it existed at that time.
I've heard they've removed the blazes in the Cheaha and Dugger Mountain wilderness areas.
Is that true? If so, did you have any problem finding and hike the trail through those areas?
I enjoyed your video, very well done. I enjoyed the narration and music as well.
God Bless,
Ken
Love the Pinhoti trail! Great vlogs!
Thanks so much for these videos. I posted a comment 10-12 days ago about me going to hike the Pinhoti later this month. Well done Darwin. Great vid series.
"Where the AT starts it's beginning?" hehe, those must have been some intense climbs and PUDs ;)
Kudos Darwin !!! Great video
Darwin onthetrail
Do you take your shoes off or change shoes before or after a water crossing. Doesn't it suck hiking in wet socks and shoes? i was thinking some water shoes would be a valuable addition for water crossings.
Great job and great vids as always
Nice job! A lot of that trail is being used for the newer Great Eastern Trail (GET). Are you familiar with the GET?
Have you ever considered bringing a multi-vitamin on trail? I can't imagine nutrition is stellar on a thru hike. Have you heard of anyone bringing them along? If you're out for 4-5 months, does nutrition, or the lack of, catch up to you?
Favorite Video!!
Great video, was there any day on the trail that didn't have rain, fog, mist ?
Great vid. Ever think you'll do the BMT?
It's on the List... The VERY SOON list!
Hike On,
Darwin
Can we get a close up / explanation of your calf tats? Or if you have already done this, is there a link? Thanks!
Hay darwen what made you like to hike
