One thing to consider is that most rides will have already shut down by the time severe weather is nearing the park, so many of the cue lines will more than likely not be accessible. Another thing to take into account is that the employees are trained on where to send guests in the case of a severe weather scenario as the park has several areas marked as “weather proof” in the event something like this were to occur.
I was actually there during a flash flood! The rides were indeed down for most of the night, and we ended up evacuated from the flooding park. This was about September 2018 I believe. It was our first time going, too 😂 The water was knee deep in some places according to the staff who guided us out. They took the route with the shallowest water because my mom was in a wheelchair. We went about ankle deep or so, maybe a lil higher.
It would be interesting but very dangerous. Could injure or kill a lot of people. They're is also a chance of severe damage and the park closes for good.

Six Flags New England has been hit by a few small tornadoes around EF1 strength. I was in the park for one of them. In line for Joker 4D freespin and these announcements started playing for a tornado warning. They closed the rides, and sent everyone to either leave the park or seek shelter near the food areas, games, or bathrooms but those areas all crowded super quickly so I left and as soon as I got in my car and started driving away back to CT, I saw this huge anvilhead cloud and a rain wrapped twister moving into the park. It didn't damage many rides because this was closer to an EF0 and there had already been an EF1 the previous month that permanently closed several other rides.
I’m from Massachusetts living near agawam for 22 years up until February this year and I’ve never heard of a tornado in Massachusetts or Connecticut. When did this happen?
the likelihood of a tornado hitting Six Flags could likely be calculated using the frequency of tornados touching down in Arlington, the average distance traveled of a tornado in Arlington, the total surface area of Six Flags, and a specific length of time like the next 10 years or 20 years
This is good info. As a former Six Flags Houston employee (security), knowing where to go in such an event is important because you never know when something harsh will come at you out of nowhere. A good example is earlier this year(2024) during the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Weather was cloudy and light rain was expected. Lots of people came for the carnival rides. A local news channel was making a live report from the location when the rain hit. That rain soon turned into hail. LOTS of golf ball sized hail! There are videos on UA-cam on this.
Good video! Some insider info from when I worked in Ride Ops YEARS ago. You are for sure correct that the park has severe weather procedures in place. Typically there is a combination of Phases (I, II, III) for proximity of lightning and Codes (A, B, C, D2) for storm severity that are issued through radio dispatch and park/ride phones to crew. If I remember correctly, Phase 1, lightning reported 10-15 miles of park perimeter; major roller coasters shut down including tower, sky coaster, Superman. Phase 2, lightning 5-10 of park perimeter; large flat rides, midsize outdoor coasters close. Phase 3 lightning has been reported less than 5 miles away or in the park; all outdoor rides stop operation. Code A, moderate to heavy rain heading to park. Code B strong storms with the potential of strong winds heading to park. Code C severe storms with hail damaging wind heading to park. Typically Code C starts park announcements of the approaching storm advising to seek cover. D2 is a tornado. All park employees are asked to head to designated shelters and ask guests to follow them as they head to the shelters.
Again this was years ago so I’m sure a lot has changed. Like you mentioned in your video the park will preemptively close early or even the day before bad weather is forecasted. But back then SF would stay open no matter the weather so we would experience many phases and codes during storm season. D2 was only called once during my years there and it was legit intense. It’s one thing to try and get to safety it’s another trying to do it while corralling stubborn guests.
Yeah current ride operator here and those code still exist but they have changed slightly to be easier to understand. It is not mainly just Phase 1-5 , with 1 being high winds to phase 5 being severe weather.

As a Texan, severe thunderstorm, flash flooding, and tornado warnings are a common occurrence in the spring and summer. I heard tornado sirens going off two times, one while it was pouring down rain. If I ever visit six flags, I hope not to face this situation. I’m also from a state that’s in tornado alley, so the threat of tornadoes is not new to me.
Frontier City took a glancing blow on June 13, 1998. It was on a Saturday, park full of guests, and from eyewitness accounts; it was a chaotic scene. Luckily the tornado hit the parking lot and adjacent areas, thankfully sparing the park of a direct hit. It was also a F-1 / F-2 tornado, and not a violent or large tornado.
What would happen to the Washington state fairgrounds (home to Classic Coaster) and PNE Playland if Cascadia's Big One hit? We're talking a subduction zone, equivilant to what caused the infamous Japaneese tsunami in the 2010s (and to be fair, the earthquake in Humboldt County, California recently may have been it as that's too far north for San Andreas and the southern part of the Cascadia Subduction Zone. Good news that it didn't hit near Portland, Seattle, or Vancouver if that's the case).

I remember when a tornado almost happened and it started tearing apart the globe life park like signs and stuff and it started to hail and so we all got evacuated from sfot but we could leave if we wanted to so we left but all we could do was take shelter in our car near trees
One time when I was about 12, my family went to Six Flags, and it started raining while we ate dinner, but then the weather cleared up. We were already getting ready to leave because it was getting late and the park was closing, but we had to rush to our car because my dad saw on his phone that there had been a funnel cloud sighting in the area. Thankfully, the weather was good on the walk to the car and on the ride back home. Weird to think what would have happened if there actually was a tornado.

The EF-1 in 2019 was eerie and scary looking but it was only an EF-1, and it moved southeast instead of east towards the park. Two other close calls were the northeasterly-moving F3 March 28, 2000 that struck the city of Arlington, and the F0 on April 3, 2012 which was more northeast of the park. The chances of a tornado hitting Six Flags Over Texas are very slim, since most tornadoes have very narrow paths, and Six Flags Over Texas is a very small foot-print of a specific location for a tornado to hit. Not to say that it would be impossible, but it's unlikely.
I live in San Antonio and I don't see these tornadoes a lot, if not any, but I do want to see one. I go to Fiesta Texas sometimes, and I've been to Over Texas before, and it is a fun experience. However, the damage would be interesting to see. The National Weather Service doesn't have degrees of damage to rate theme parks, so only time will tell.
That's why I thought having a new theme park in Oklahoma would be a bad idea, because I thought Oklahoma but when i did some research, Texas gets hit by 136 tornadoes than any other state in tornado Alley every year. I don't know if it's just me but Oklahoma keeps getting the bigger ones. El Reno, and Bridge Creek, but it's just me. However there hasn't been any theme Parks that have been hit by any tornado in the past decades especially by a F5 which are the most violent tornadoes on record. So I think it's fine to build a new theme park outside of Tulsa.
Me: Going to SFOT for the first time in 2 weeks lol Weirdly enough, Six Flags New England of all parks go hit by a small tornado a few years ago and took out its Larson Loop(or more appropriately...the tornado took out a few trees and they hit the Larson Loop causing all the damage)...the spot still has nothing in it. Shocker, I know.

i think your talking about the yukon ef2 or the el reno ef1, ive tracked both
That's funny because here in Texas it would be broad daylight and storming or the storm would come on immediately without warning as usual
this is a really neat video, really enjoyed watching it. If you're open to feedback, I feel compelled to let you know that you do talk a little fast in this video, and sometimes your words blend together. Otherwise, your video is super awesome.
I’m definitely open to feedback from my viewers thanks for the advice and glad you enjoyed my video!
Will some one said there was a tornado that was so close hitting frontier city and I got me thinking that frontier city has storm shelters I couldn’t find any storm shelters
There has been a tornado incounter near adventureland in altoona iowa 20 minutes from me during its first opening in 1974 there was tornado in altoona and near adventureland idk if it hit adventureland i do know that adventureland was inspired thats why one of the wooden roller coaster were named tornado because it was inspired by that thers another video of a tornado in adventureland of a UA-cam shorts
You would hope that in an extreme case (e.x. High Risk forecast from the SPC) that they would do the wise thing and not open the park at all
mr freeze boutta go even harder
weird coincidence but I live in dallas and there was a tornado just this morning
same
Would make a great disaster movie.
Very much so that’s why it’s always been a theory of mine 😅hopefully never will happen tho
I've had to seek shelter in the park before back in the 90s when I was a kid. Once at Astro World as well.
What about state fair of Texas??
I live in San Antonio and I don't see these tornadoes a lot, if not any, but I do want to see one. I go to Fiesta Texas sometimes, and I've been to Over Texas before, and it is a fun experience. However, the damage would be interesting to see. The National Weather Service doesn't have degrees of damage to rate theme parks, so only time will tell.
New subscriber :)
Appreciate it 🙏🏽
Wait, the VFW is in tornado alley?
Tbh there should be a “What Would Happen If SFOT Was Flooded” like what happened when Johnson Creek flooded the park, this should be a vid 🙂👍
I wish they would bring another super coaster
I was thinking why would a large tornado hit San Antonio
It sounds weird calling it Over Texas instead of just Six Flags, which is how literally everyone I've ever heard has referred to it.
@@texasfrog17 usually the coaster fans who visit different parks call every six flags by its last name. Like “fiesta texas” or “magic mountain”
What If A Earthquake (The Big One) Hit Six Flags Magic Mountain. Another video idea.
Scary!
what if you were on a ride during a tornado
six Flags over Texas is my childhood theme park as a kid I never went to Disney I was a person who only stick to Six Flags.
Haha, im a weather enthusiast too!
If a tornado hit magic mountain, Goliath would have actual airtime
This will be a storm chasers dream and worst nightmare
Don't forget that there's a F-Scale. And, the strongest Arlington Tornado was an F3 on March 28, 2000*
Exactly my thoughts for OK’s new theme park, my biggest worry is all that money spent just for Mother Nature to trash it
Me: Going to SFOT for the first time in 2 weeks lol
Weirdly enough, Six Flags New England of all parks go hit by a small tornado a few years ago and took out its Larson Loop(or more appropriately...the tornado took out a few trees and they hit the Larson Loop causing all the damage)...the spot still has nothing in it. Shocker, I know.
I've been there a lot and one time on my birthday there was a tornado...
