They've always been a villain. They're just becoming less and less ashamed of it, slowly but surely revealing their true colors day by day. And all any of us can do is sit back and watch as the quality begins to plummet into the toilet bowl.
@@AhDollar There's no evidence for that claim, just a bunch of people cynically attacking the image of Walt that his marketing created instead of actually examining the kind of person he was. Disney was just a guy, like anyone else; to claim he was a hero or a villain is disingenuous either way.
I don’t think it’s bad to have a multilayered villain you can sympathize with. But when you do it over and over again, it becomes less profound and more tired.
As well as doing each one badly. Where the writers go out of their way to justify their actions while handwaving the evils they inflicted in their setting/world. The film version of a Big H denier or "that wasn't real Socialism/Communism" excuse, done by the writers.
I mean anything can become tired at that point, even villains who are just evil and loving it. Not all of em were winners and over time they became less popular. They’re only more idolized now cuz we haven’t really had one in a while.
i mean i like smypathic villains but if their well carfted or bad writeing i don;t want it. also plot twist vilain i do mind it if does not make sense. i have headcannon the troll did someting to Hans (the villain fo forzen) too amek him evil hoenslty this due to 1 theroy. i like anna and Kirstoph but what side eye lovey dove look for Hans?
The fact that the studio who is known for making some of the best villains, now don’t even like making villains, especially traditional villains, is really fricking mind blowing. And not in a good way. I swear, they better not BS us with Wish’s villain because Disney can make villains. They can do it, and they should start doing it again.
I feel as if any type of antagonist can be messed up. Being pure evil doesn’t automatically equal good. I have decent expectations for wish but I fear disney will start to mess up traditional evil villains too eventually
I know it's not Disney, but I learned something powerful from 'The Boys', 2 years ago. The best way to hook an audience from the start is to create a character so horrible that they can't stop watching until they watch that character die.
As somebody who loves both good obvious villains, and good plot twist villains, the two work very well together and i’d like to see a story with both. Some of my favorite media has both (mainly video games.) I haven’t seen any movies with this kind of story and i’d like to. Or anti-heros are super cool as well! I’d love to see more of those. There’s a lot of unique concepts for antagonists that aren’t utilized and i feel could make a film that’s very refreshing.
@@pillowmoment yup, super paper mario for the wii there's dozens of video essays so to give you the gist, Dimentio works really well as a twist villain because even though it's only revealed in the last chapter of the game, Dimentio was already a charismatic villain since square one, working with Count Bleck and all. what the twist was was that there were a lot of subtle hints and info drops that Dimentio had a hidden agenda and it was hard to put your finger on what it was until he revealed it in that final chapter, and then everything just clicks. it all feels so natural when he becomes the true final boss, not like something that was just pulled out of a butthole
Yeah, I agree. I like Callaghan from Big Hero 6, for example. He's not a _bad villain,_ he's just a _lot_ more sympathetic than what I think most people were expecting from him or waiting for from him as a twist villain. People wanted an obvious bad guy, expected one, really, but I think what some people like Aldone here _fail_ to realize is that, sometimes, especially in real life, _not all "villains" are purely, obviously bad or evil._
I still wonder how exactly a film like “Zootopia” would’ve been fixed if they had a full-on villain in it, given the rather touchy subject matter it addresses. Prejudice isn’t something that can be smudged off or solved easily, and it can come from the most sublet, unexpected places and individuals. No big bad boogeyman to point the finger at. I think the issue with Bellwether is that she needed to be featured more throughout the film, have her unassuming character be a subtle devil on Judy’s shoulder, telling her to be weary of predators and feeding into her own anxieties of being a victim of discrimination. That way, not only does she stoke the flames of conflict, but her villainous reveal towards the climax would also feel more believable.
I think one of the issue with Bellweather (and other Disney twist villains) is that they're practically different characters before and after the reveal. They go immediately from nice and unassuming, to suddenly "MWAHAHA I'M EVIL", and often there's a jarring disconnect between the character's actions before and after the reveal. Pixar's twist villains are usually more subtle, which is why I think people have far less problems with them.
What a story needs is a real chellenge for the hero. And a villain is one way to fullfill this plot (the heros journey). An antagonistic/dangerous Enviroment for example can serve the same goal. If a story goes the way of a fight of a hero against a villain, the villain needs to be memorable not less than the hero.
I kind of want to defend the idea of a twist villain cause I think it can work if done well. Turbo in Wreck it Ralph is a twist villain as no one thought he was King Candy and it works. Another example of a twist villain would be in a mystery setting; Scooby Doo arguably has the best example of this as in every episode it’s a mystery who the monster is if it was obvious it would take some of the fun out of the mystery. Attack on Titan and Oshi no Ko also have interesting takes on twist villains as the main characters (Eren and Aqua) become villains in their story which most people don’t see coming especially from the beginning (granted we don’t know how far Aqua will fall at this point). There’s also series like Assassination Classroom where Koro Sensei was originally presented as the villain but by the end it’s clear he’s not but the people who created him are. Disney just doesn’t have the ability to write a good twist villain partially because they are only writing 90 min movies. They don’t develop the twist villain enough to pull it off or develop a story where a twist villain would work.
Though in my personal opinion, twist villains are much harder to make unlike regular villains because first you got to add a bunch subtle hints that makes sense, then you gotta make the audience surprise or at least invested when the twist is revealed and finally you got to give them enough screen time to make them memorable or make them memorable in the little screen time they have because unlike normal villains for the most part they are revealed and start doing villainy things around the third act.

If WISH's villain King Magnifico is going to be a TRUE villain & not a plot twist villain, he needs to be very scary & do evil deeds that modern past villains wouldn't DREAM of doing. He needs to be so scary that he gives children nightmares
So to summarize: If King Magnifico's to be a true villain, he must be evil enough to be realistically evil, like Frollo. I can see that. Both have significant authority and power.
Not necessarily. True villain ≠ having no standards, willing to cross any line, pure evil, etc. Maybe Magnifico has some lines he's not willing to cross. He may even be the true big bad's servant or something.
Scar from the Lion King was a perfect example of a complete monster. He not only killed his own brother, but he killed a king too. Plus he had the audacity to blame it on little Simba! Simba carried that guilt with him growing up so when Nala urged him to come back to free the Pridelands from Scar's tyranny, Simba refused not because he simply didn't want to become king, but felt that he wasn't worthy because in his mind, he was the one who was responsible for the death of the previous king Mufasa. A murderer has no right to be King. That's why I personally think the scene of Ghost Mufasa appearing in the sky to tell Simba to "remember who he was" could have been better. Ghost Mufasa could have told Simba the truth that Scar was the one responsible for killing him & not Simba. Then the guilt will be lifted off of Simba & boldly go back to the Pridelands, expose the truth about Scar, overthrow Scar & take his place as the true King.
I think Mufasa not telling Simba the truth was actually a way to test him and make him the strongest individual he could be, because that's what it was going to take to undo all the damage Scar had done. By not telling him, he ensured that Simba wasn't going back for revenge, but because it was the right thing and his responsibility. Sure the revenge as a motive came later when he learned the truth, but it was layered on top of everything else he had firing him up, and even then it could be argued that it wasn't revenge, but the realization at how big of a monster Scar was.
I discovered this guy’s channel today and I’m obsessed with it. I have binge watched like 15 of his videos all day long. He’s so good and speaks my mind for pretty much every Disney scenario he covers
I like the modern villains, but my only issue is that the villainy doesn't last long enough: Yokai doesn't get enough screen time, Hans isn't a villain for long, Namaari is more of a supporting villain, Te Ka is more of an obstacle than a villain, etc.
See, Zootopia was good because, although it had a crappy villain in Dawn Bellweather, it had an awesome antagonist in Nick Wilde. Nick Wilde made Zootopia great.
I just hope that in the Shrek 5 movie, once Disney buys DreamWorks, all the Official Disney Princes and Princesses from their respective movies appear, especially all the characters from Rise of the Guardians movie, from Frozen movies, from How to Train Your Dragon movies, from Brave movie, from Tangled movie, from Moana movie, from Raya and the Last Dragon movie, from Encanto movie and the most important character in the movie of The Little Mermaid 2: Return to the Sea, Melody, the daughter of Prince Eric and Princess Ariel, and thus, they will be the new main characters of the Shrek 5 movie so that they help Shrek, Princess Fiona, Donkey, Dragon, Puss in Boots, Kitty Softpaws, Perrito, Prince Lancelot, Princess Tiffany, King Artie, Princess Guinevere, the children of Shrek and Princess Fiona: Fergus, Farkle and Felicia, the children of Donkey and Dragon: Bananas, Parfait, Peanut, Eclair, Coco and Debbie and the others to defeat Rumpelstiltskin, Death and all the Official Villains of Disney and DreamWorks, as the Evil Queen, Lady Tremaine, Drizella Tremaine, Maleficent, Marina del Rey, Ursula, Gaston, Forte, Jafar, Sa'luk, Governor Ratcliffe, Shan Yu, Doctor Facilier, Mother Gothel, Zhan Tiri, Te Kā, Tamatoa, the Red Death, Drago Bludvist, Grimmel the Grisly, Mor'du, Prince Hans, Pitch Black, the Druun, the Soldiers and Morgana, and to prevent Rumpelstiltskin, Death and the other Official Villains of Disney and DreamWorks from ruling and destroying the kingdom of Princess Fiona and King Artie called Far Far Away, Shrek along with his wife named Princess Fiona will need help from their new friends which are the Official Disney Princes and Princesses, as Prince Florian, Princess Snow White, Prince Charming, Princess Cinderella, Prince Philip, Princess Aurora, Prince Eric, Princess Ariel, Prince Adam, Princess Belle, Prince Aladdín, Princess Jasmine, Prince John Smith, Princess Pocahontas, Prince Li Shang, Princess Fa Mulán, Prince Naveen, Princess Tiana, Prince Flynn Rider, Princess Rapunzel, Maui, Queen Moana Waialiki, Hiccup Haddock, Princess Mérida, Kristoff Bjorgman, Queen Anna, Jack Frost, Princess Elsa, Princess Raya, Princess Mirabel Madrigal, Anastasia Tremaine and Melody, although in reality, Melody is the first and only that she is not a true Official Disney Princess along with Anastasia Tremaine, because Anastasia Tremaine is not born of royalty, while, Melody made her debut in the movie of The Little Mermaid 2: Return to the Sea and it is also because she is the first and only daughter of an Official Disney Princess, but Shrek, Princess Fiona, Donkey, Dragon, Puss in Boots, Kitty Softpaws, Perrito, Prince Lancelot, Princess Tiffany, King Artie, Princess Guinevere, the children of Shrek and Princess Fiona: Fergus, Farkle, and Felicia, the children of Donkey and Dragon: Bananas, Parfait, Peanut, Eclair, Coco and Debbie and the others also need Anastasia Tremaine and Melody's help to protect and save their kingdom called Far Far Away away from Rumpelstiltskin, Death and the other Official Villains of Disney and DreamWorks, because Anastasia Tremaine is now a good person, while, Melody is the daughter of Prince Eric and Princess Ariel, but in the Shrek 5 movie, I also want to see the death of Queen Lillian, because since her husband named King Harold passed away in the Shrek 3 movie, she has felt heartbroken and that caused his own death in his kingdom called Far Far Away, and all the inhabitants of Princess Fiona and King Artie's kingdom called Far Far Away are saddened by the death of Queen Lillian, because now she is with her husband named King Harold in heaven, and now they have lost their queen, that means now the kingdom of Far Far Away needs a new queen and King Artie said that his love interest, girlfriend, fiancée and former classmate from Worcestershire school called Princess Guinevere would be the one to be the new Queen of Far Far Away, so King Artie decided to return to his old school called Worcestershire along with Shrek, with his older cousin Princess Fiona, with Donkey, with Dragon, with Puss in Boots, with Kitty Softpaws, with Perrito, with the children of Shrek and Princess Fiona: Fergus, Farkle and Felicia, with the children of Donkey and Dragon: Bananas, Parfait, Peanut, Eclair, Coco and Debbie and with the others to meet again with their friends from their school who are actually Prince Lancelot, Princess Tiffany and their love interest, girlfriend and fiancée Princess Guinevere to take them back to their kingdom called Far Far Away, and in the Shrek 5 movie, I also want to see the romance of all the Official Disney Princes and Princesses from their respective movies, especially the romance of Maui and Queen Moana Waialiki, the romance of Hiccup Haddock and Princess Mérida, the romance of Jack Frost and Princess Elsa, the romance of Prince Lancelot and Princess Tiffany and the romance of King Artie and Princess Guinevere, because I think in the Shrek 5 movie, Maui will be Queen Moana Waialiki's love interest, boyfriend and fiancé, while Hiccup Haddock will be Princess Mérida's love interest and boyfriend, Princess Tiffany will be Prince Lancelot's love interest, girlfriend and fiancée and Princess Guinevere will be King Artie's love interest, girlfriend and fiancée, because Queen Moana Waialiki is going to fall in love with Maui, Princess Mérida is going to fall in love Hiccup Haddock, Princess Tiffany is going to fall in love with Prince Lancelot and Princess Guinevere is going to fall in love with King Artie, but they don't know how to tell them their feelings towards them and neither how to win their hearts, because every time Queen Moana Waialiki gets too close to Maui when it comes to true love, she gets very nervous with him, while which in the case of Princess Mérida is also the same, because whenever Princess Mérida gets too close to Hiccup Haddock when it comes to true love, she also gets very nervous with him, in the case of Princess Tiffany it is also the same, because whenever Princess Tiffany gets too close to Prince Lancelot when it comes to true love, she also gets very nervous around him, and in the case of Princess Guinevere too, because every time Princess Guinevere gets too close to King Artie when it comes to true love, she also gets very nervous around him, but luckily for them, Princess Fiona will help Queen Moana Waialiki to win the heart of Maui, also Princess Mérida to win the heart of Hiccup Haddock, also Princess Tiffany to win the heart of Prince Lancelot and also Princess Guinevere to win the heart of King Artie, and I also want that in the Shrek movie 5, Jack Frost will be Princess Elsa's love interest and boyfriend, because Jack Frost leaves fall in love with Princess Elsa, but he doesn't know how to tell her his feelings and how to win her heart, because every time Jack Frost gets too close to Princess Elsa when it comes to true love, he gets very nervous with her, but fortunately for him, Shrek will help Jack Frost to win the heart of Princess Elsa, except Princess Raya and Princess Mirabel Madrigal, because now they will be the only Official Disney Princesses who do not need to have love interests and who can remain single forever, and I also say the same for Melody, the daughter of Prince Eric and Princess Ariel, because like Princess Raya and Princess Mirabel Madrigal, she doesn't need a love interest either, but in the Shrek 5 movie, I also want to see the rivalry between King Artie and Queen Anna because they both want to compete in a challenge to see who is the best monarch a of a kingdom, that is, the best ruler of a kingdom, because both want to do what is best for their own kingdom, because King Artie wants to do what is best for his kingdom called Far Far Away because now he is the new King of Far Far Away and Queen Anna wants to do the best for their kingdom called Arendelle because now she is the new Queen of Arendelle, but at the end of the Shrek 5 movie, King Artie and Queen Anna become best friends in the world, because at the end of the Shrek 5 movie, they both learned from their mistakes that they have made since their challenge to compete to see who is the best monarch of a kingdom, that is, the best ruler of a kingdom, and that at the end of the Shrek 5 movie, King Artie and Princess Guinevere see their first true love kiss and that they become a romantic couple, just like Prince Lancelot and Princess Tiffany, and also that at the end of the Shrek 5 movie, Maui, Hiccup Haddock, Kristoff Bjorgman, Jack Frost, Prince Lancelot and King Artie become the new official members of the Official Disney Princes, while Queen Anna, Princess Elsa, Princess Mirabel Madrigal, Princess Tiffany and Princess Guinevere become the new official members of the Official Disney Princesses and that one day, Princess Tiffany will be the wife of Prince Lancelot and that they have a son and a daughter, that is, a family in the future, and that also Princess Guinevere is the wife of King Artie, that they also have a son and a daughter, that is, a family and that she becomes the new Queen of Far Far Away in the future.
I don’t think it’s quite fair to say a story without a villain “doesn’t work” or become terrible. Theres plenty of ways to have obstacles in a film without them being related to any specific villain. Imo many recent Disney films have done good with making other sources be the main cause of conflict rather than just one big bad. Don’t get me wring I too would like to see a return of traditional “it’s so good to be bad” Disney villains and hopefully Wish will be the start of that but I don’t necessarily think having different kinds of main threats is a bad thing like you seem to believe.
Disney's have great VILLAS in BIG SEEN, EVEN VILLAIN INSIGHT- WAY WORK TOO. EVEN DISNEY'S sequence, spin- off, Minus, Have villains. Disney T.V. Villains are GREAT,
In truth the reason why Hans was made a villain was because if not then elsa and Anna would have been blamed (plus they are not really good characters, never were, never had been, they were just using Hans as a shield hence why when the sequel came they became disliked, because they did not have their shield hiding all their flaws and such)
Honestly it feels like these kind of videos are redundant now. It'd be better if you took more time between videos because they are starting to sound same. This is constructive criticism btw, I enjoy the channel, no hate.
agreed! i love the channel and respect how much work it takes to put out so many videos, but i feel like i'm getting the same exact content over and over again. i think if there was more time between videos it would give a chance for some concepts to be more fleshed out and fully executed to full potential
@fandom.bandit I definitely agree that these sort of type of videos that he likes to do are starting to become very repetitive and pretty much the exact same. I just hope in the next video he'll talk about something more interesting. Don't give me wrong. I still enjoy his channel there's some videos I do like but there's some videos. I may not agree with him depending what he's gonna talk about but I still respect him.
The villains are so important for most of stories specially the classical ones which that´s how Disney became legendary in the first place above all, as without them there is mostly no plot in all. Of course over the evolution of time, stories have evolved and there is a lot where the own heroes and protagonist make their own story even without a proper villain on it, as some recent stories have been doing, however though something edgy and interesting for modern updates and variations about the way of stories, STILL the main greatest ones ever are the ones involving a proper classical villain type on the plot, regardless if the hero´s journey might need it to evolve or not, but actually indeed working better if both characters are there and work as comparative-complementary opposite contrasting of each other stories. That´s why at their peak of Disney evolution at the 90s Reinassance, the movies there were the best ones ever untill today!!
Examples of wright and wrong in a given topic are something I can fix. Frozen is easy , the kiss fails and Hans goes to kill Elsa who is creating in grief and rage. For Strange World , I would make an abstract embodiment of hunger for paradise. And for Lightyear , have Zerg come to power because one person can make a difference.
I know this might seem contradictory, but you can make a good movie without a villain. I think a great example of this is My Neighbor Totoro by Studio Ghibli. I would highly recommend it
Agreed, Studio Ghibli makes some of the best Anime movies of all time, and I've never felt depressed from watching their movies (no matter how dark the endings can be).
@@Arc3752 I think Miziaki (sorry if I butchered his name) makes the best Ghibli films by far. Disney bought Ghibli, so why not take inspiration, or better yet, hire Miziaki to make a movie for them
The thing about the villain Hans from Frozen: Anna wanted to marry Hans the same day she met him. Her sister Elsa & her soon to be husband Kristoff warned Anna that she can't just get married to a stranger she just met on the same day. When Hans revealed his true villainous colors, Elsa's & Kristoff's warnings about strangers were correct. Deep down some viewers knew that Hans would actually turn evil when Anna is warned about him
Clearly you've never heard of arranged and political marriages, nor do you believe that it shouldn't be Disney's responsibility to teach people to not have unrealistic expectations when it comes to romance.
@@1992disney "nor do you believe that it shouldn't be Disney's responsibility to teach people to not have unrealistic expectations when it comes to romance." It isn't but Disney decided to take the job anyways.
@@MK_ULTRA420 Because the company's being run and controlled by delusional leftists now. So they think that it's their "moral" duty to lecture and talk down to their audience with their content because they think that their audience is too dumb to understand the difference between fantasy and reality. 🤷♀
Not always. There are other ways to bring about antagonists as well, some not even a character. Not all antagonists are villains, and not all villains are antagonists (the protagonist can be a villain, and the antagonist can be a hero). Or they can be completely neutral.
Honestly this isn't even a disney problem it's just feels like a lot of entertaiment media is forgeting how importen villains are in stories in one way or another
I think that villains and antagonist need a review in there definitions. Like pichoocio I think you can have villains but not have a villain that is totally against the hero. Really Villains are suppose to be the people who find reasons or ways to commit acts that malicous or horrible in the world. They dont have to impose against the main character ideaology like the Joker, but they should give a hurdle for the hero to jump over. Antagonist isnt alway a indvidual or army. It the oposite force acting against the progagonist. Just becuase the protagonist is a physical being doesnt mean the antagonist is. It supposed to challenge the heros ideaology or set hardships to see what they do to keep believing or going on the path. Just because Hercules villain was Hades doesnt mean Hades was trying to challenge his beliefs. It was Hercules idea of being a hero and god that was the antagonist. Hades just want to get him out of the way. He does manipulate him, but there were other things challegning his prepectives including fame.
Can you please do a video to break down Disney Junior shows like the Lion Guard, the many series of Mickey Mouse, Jake and the neverland Pirates, The upcoming Ariel series, and Little Einsteins?
I really miss the days when Disney had proper antagonists in their films. A villain is one of the most important characters in a story, and Disney has some of the most memorable. Maybe someday they'll create a new Claude Frollo, Hades, Maleficent, Madame Medusa, the Horned King, Monstro, the firebird, Yzma, or Dr Facilier, who knows
@jjtheraccoon61 Even so, the firebird is an impressive and so often overlooked villain. It's only has about two minutes of screen time, and it's quite frightening
Disney has a bad habit of either making the main antagonistic force. Something related to family dynamics or the world itself. Like good example of this is Elemental. Which spoiler alert, has no actual villain. Outside of a weird racist allegory about water people being shit at city planning. Yes that is the entire story behind elemental is wow. The city is falling apart and is going to drown the fire people. and you wonder why it did a poor job.
16:17 - What's dumber then Hans turning into a villain, is that Anna just gose on that he won't get away with his scheam instead of asking him why and telling him that she thought that Hans loved Anna.
Villain like Frieza(DBZ),Cell(DBZ),Pitch Black(Dreamwork Rise of the Guardians),Kingpin(Spiderverse),Hexxus(Ferngully),Joker(Batman Dark Knight),Green Goblin(Sam Raimi Spider-Man),Thrax(Osmosis Jones),Reverse Flash(Justice League FlashPoint),Zanza(Xenoblade Chronicles),Dr.October(Spider-Man PS4)FireLord Ozai,Azula,Lex Luther,Death(Puss n Boot 2) and Tai Lung(Dreamwork Rise of the Guardians) Challenge our heroes, and their ideals!
There is no doubt That at least Disney movies of late, has dropped the Villian side of things and going slice-of-life and………. Well maybe falling to pressure form Society. Makes me wonder why they fear to make that villian anymore. Afraid it won’t be original? They can only try Only cartoons have created them
I miss the Disney villains. I’d never care modern Disney villains today because they serve no purpose for the heroes. The only today’s Disney villains I care for is actually dr facillier and king kandy. At least these two stay as villains than the rest.
Is it just me, or do most of the videos on this channel feel like they were written by ai? Like, it's not impossible one guy is writing everything, but to keep up a schedule of two or three 20 minute videos per week for months on end is insane. And nothing in these videos have any special insight or creativity, just bland common opinions almost every reviewer has already said, and repetitive titles. And dang, this channel exploded on the scene fast: it hit the ground running with the first video getting tens of thousands of hits, and shortly after, a rapidfire release rate followed as the videos got hit after hit. I mean, kudos to the channel owner for luckily finding the exact right moment to release this series, but I call ai script generation or predict a fast burnout from the workload of pumping out a whole hour of scripted, acted, and edited content every week.
i want villain like scar, Frollo, ursla villain i love to hate. villain i love seeing be evil i want that diseny give it too ME. an everyone else that wants it.
I'm completely skeptical about Wish. I know this movie was a freaking century in the making, but I don't trust Disney to make a good mustache twirling villain like they did in ye olden days of the Golden, Silver, Bronze Ages, and the Renaissance.
I disagree that Encanto worked, because Grandmonster Alma doesn't deserve instant forgiveness. I don't think that minimalizing abuse is ever okay. For anyone that has had their lives dominated by overbearing guardians, I can say from experience that it takes YEARS to get your life back in order. Let that sink in, years of struggling to break out of the mold they put you in. Years to undo gaslighting, browbeating, emotional abuse, and neglect. And that was after I moved out on my own. To still live with your abuser isn't a happy ending, it's a ticking time bomb.
She wasn't a villain. She was a woman who felt the pressure to be perfect after the toll her husband's death took on her. She and Mirabel had to work out their problems and make up in order to solve the conflict. I know it might take years to get your life back into order, but the first step may be connecting with people like Alma did in the case they were people feeling this pressure. Then again, what to do to undo this abuse varies on a case-by-case basis.
@jjtheraccoon61 She kept up a cycle of abuse on her children and her grandchildren for years. The level of rationization needed to continually abuse children doesn't make her a villain, it makes her a monster.
Maybe the powers at be realized it's a bad idea to teach kids to stand up against a centralized source of evil. So instead are making stories about challenging a community to change the focus to arguing amongst ourselves. Or maybe I'm just reading too much into it.
We need all kinds of stories! Ones with classic Disney villains and ones with none at the same time. But all these “not-villain” family members and ones with “tragic backstories” like Magnifico are getting too overused and becoming more into garbage. No more of this extreme emphasis on morality or sympathy BS!
When is aldone going to make a video about DreamWorks new movie ruby gillman teenage kraken nuke bomb box office and the villain of the movie was spoiled by the trailer since he a pretty obvious DreamWorks fan and still haven't made any videos yet, bro we can tell you give DreamWorks special treatment by the lack of reviews of bad DreamWorks movies stop hiding it and a video of DreamWorks next movie trolls 3 a sequel of a terrible movie nobody ask for and starting back DreamWorks cringe bad movies streak. we still need to see that DreamWorks movies and villain ranking to see the first 10 movie and villain he mentioned are not perfect just like you did to Disney how come when Disney started to have a fall like DreamWorks in the past no support really before 2020 nobody publicly shamed DreamWorks for their cringe bad movies they only leave bad comments on the movie and never compare them to others movie companys
Not only that, but we also need gruesome yet satisfying deaths for villains and even antagonists like Alma Madrigal and Ming Lee. I was hoping Lotso had been torn apart by a guard dog instead of being strapped to the radiator of a garbage truck after nearly killing Woody, Buzz, and their friends in the incinerator. Evelyn Deavor should have been sucked into a jet turbine instead of Syndrome for her petty grudge against the Supers for the death of her stupid father. And Namaari should have died the same way as Count Dooku from Star Wars instead of being forgiven for all the trouble she caused throughout the movie. Here's the thing, if there's a rabid dog, what should you do ? Lock him in a cage, or gun it down ? The best way is the latter.
Isnt a rabit dog more tragic as its not hes fault he is rabid . Also Alma and ming are not villains. Also Lotso fate is much worser as a dog ripping him to pieaces would only last a few sceonds but him being tied to a truck where he will decompose very slowly is a fate worse than death
I really wanted to watch this, but it sounds like 1 run-on sentence, and I can't take it all in. Not trying to critique out of spite, but I think you need some pauses/breaths.
I think because of the evils of Ron DeFascist, Disney animators will consider that their no villain rule doesn't necessarily means that would make the movie realistic and nuance, trying to be like Miyazaki. Some people are just douches

Same thing happens with any type of character really
Additionally, you can sympathize with a quality or two of theirs, while also being rightfully scared of them. It's not one or the other.
The fact that the studio who is known for making some of the best villains, now don’t even like making villains, especially traditional villains, is really fricking mind blowing. And not in a good way.
I swear, they better not BS us with Wish’s villain because Disney can make villains. They can do it, and they should start doing it again.
They will not! Magnifico will be a full-on villain.
I feel as if any type of antagonist can be messed up. Being pure evil doesn’t automatically equal good. I have decent expectations for wish but I fear disney will start to mess up traditional evil villains too eventually
@@cosmicspacething3474 They already did in 2010 with Mother Gothel; that's why they backed off traditional villains until now.
@@GuineaPig361 I think Gothel was decent
@@GuineaPig361 but will he be a well-written one? This movie may be yet another bomb like Strange World.
Give me more villains like Dr. Faciler (Princess and the Frog) that made a deal with literal demons.
There’s a lot of unique concepts for antagonists that aren’t utilized and i feel could make a film that’s very refreshing.
yeah Count Bleck and Dimentio were so goddamn memorable
@@redactedinfo8557 literally never played the game they’re from (paper mario wii, right?) and i know who they are so that says a lot i think.
Are you familiar with Monsters Inc.?
@@pillowmoment yup, super paper mario for the wii
there's dozens of video essays so to give you the gist,
Dimentio works really well as a twist villain because even though it's only revealed in the last chapter of the game, Dimentio was already a charismatic villain since square one, working with Count Bleck and all. what the twist was was that there were a lot of subtle hints and info drops that Dimentio had a hidden agenda and it was hard to put your finger on what it was until he revealed it in that final chapter, and then everything just clicks. it all feels so natural when he becomes the true final boss, not like something that was just pulled out of a butthole
Yeah, I didn't think she was a bad villain, it's just that she should've been featured more doing stuff like that.
I think the issue here is that Disney forgot that you can actually make a 3 dimensional villian without them being twist villians or redeemable
New Disney = 🤡🤓🌚💩
Old Disney = 🗿😎🚬🍷
Blame capitalism.
I have a bad feeling that after Wish disney will start to mess up classic villains too
Though in my personal opinion, twist villains are much harder to make unlike regular villains because first you got to add a bunch subtle hints that makes sense, then you gotta make the audience surprise or at least invested when the twist is revealed and finally you got to give them enough screen time to make them memorable or make them memorable in the little screen time they have because unlike normal villains for the most part they are revealed and start doing villainy things around the third act.

We hope Wish doesn't fail us on our 100th anniversary of Disney.
The Best way to make a twist Villlan is not to make us doubt if he is evil but why he is evil
Magnifico is also going to have a villain song, which is something we all wished for.
Who's that one again? Which movie are they from?
@@cadendicky1855 It is new villain voiced by Chris Pine from new disney movie named wish
@@elikk7318 oh, ok
Keep in mind most Disney movies start out as books and in the books the villains are already there.
As a person who watched video multiple times, this video is true
Even though I still love Disney, I definitely agree that they should go back to making traditional villains.
I still think it was only a illusion or an hallucination
I think Mufasa not telling Simba the truth was actually a way to test him and make him the strongest individual he could be, because that's what it was going to take to undo all the damage Scar had done. By not telling him, he ensured that Simba wasn't going back for revenge, but because it was the right thing and his responsibility. Sure the revenge as a motive came later when he learned the truth, but it was layered on top of everything else he had firing him up, and even then it could be argued that it wasn't revenge, but the realization at how big of a monster Scar was.
I hope wish turns out good and succeeds and makes disney return to their roots
Why do I get the feeling "Wish" will take a bunch of influences from "Puss in Boots 2"?
I discovered this guy’s channel today and I’m obsessed with it. I have binge watched like 15 of his videos all day long. He’s so good and speaks my mind for pretty much every Disney scenario he covers
I hated Frollo and that made me love him. We need more Frollos in our Disney movies lmao that's what I've realized
I like the modern villains, but my only issue is that the villainy doesn't last long enough: Yokai doesn't get enough screen time, Hans isn't a villain for long, Namaari is more of a supporting villain, Te Ka is more of an obstacle than a villain, etc.
Because they're sophisticated and bone chilling!
Let’s just hope the antagonist from Disney’s new animated film Wish doesn’t disappoint.
See, Zootopia was good because, although it had a crappy villain in Dawn Bellweather, it had an awesome antagonist in Nick Wilde. Nick Wilde made Zootopia great.
Villains don't have to be in every single movie, variety is good. But we do need something.
We also need a dark villain like juge claude frollo again
Turns out the real villains were the corporations along the way
I just hope that in the Shrek 5 movie, once Disney buys DreamWorks, all the Official Disney Princes and Princesses from their respective movies appear, especially all the characters from Rise of the Guardians movie, from Frozen movies, from How to Train Your Dragon movies, from Brave movie, from Tangled movie, from Moana movie, from Raya and the Last Dragon movie, from Encanto movie and the most important character in the movie of The Little Mermaid 2: Return to the Sea, Melody, the daughter of Prince Eric and Princess Ariel, and thus, they will be the new main characters of the Shrek 5 movie so that they help Shrek, Princess Fiona, Donkey, Dragon, Puss in Boots, Kitty Softpaws, Perrito, Prince Lancelot, Princess Tiffany, King Artie, Princess Guinevere, the children of Shrek and Princess Fiona: Fergus, Farkle and Felicia, the children of Donkey and Dragon: Bananas, Parfait, Peanut, Eclair, Coco and Debbie and the others to defeat Rumpelstiltskin, Death and all the Official Villains of Disney and DreamWorks, as the Evil Queen, Lady Tremaine, Drizella Tremaine, Maleficent, Marina del Rey, Ursula, Gaston, Forte, Jafar, Sa'luk, Governor Ratcliffe, Shan Yu, Doctor Facilier, Mother Gothel, Zhan Tiri, Te Kā, Tamatoa, the Red Death, Drago Bludvist, Grimmel the Grisly, Mor'du, Prince Hans, Pitch Black, the Druun, the Soldiers and Morgana, and to prevent Rumpelstiltskin, Death and the other Official Villains of Disney and DreamWorks from ruling and destroying the kingdom of Princess Fiona and King Artie called Far Far Away, Shrek along with his wife named Princess Fiona will need help from their new friends which are the Official Disney Princes and Princesses, as Prince Florian, Princess Snow White, Prince Charming, Princess Cinderella, Prince Philip, Princess Aurora, Prince Eric, Princess Ariel, Prince Adam, Princess Belle, Prince Aladdín, Princess Jasmine, Prince John Smith, Princess Pocahontas, Prince Li Shang, Princess Fa Mulán, Prince Naveen, Princess Tiana, Prince Flynn Rider, Princess Rapunzel, Maui, Queen Moana Waialiki, Hiccup Haddock, Princess Mérida, Kristoff Bjorgman, Queen Anna, Jack Frost, Princess Elsa, Princess Raya, Princess Mirabel Madrigal, Anastasia Tremaine and Melody, although in reality, Melody is the first and only that she is not a true Official Disney Princess along with Anastasia Tremaine, because Anastasia Tremaine is not born of royalty, while, Melody made her debut in the movie of The Little Mermaid 2: Return to the Sea and it is also because she is the first and only daughter of an Official Disney Princess, but Shrek, Princess Fiona, Donkey, Dragon, Puss in Boots, Kitty Softpaws, Perrito, Prince Lancelot, Princess Tiffany, King Artie, Princess Guinevere, the children of Shrek and Princess Fiona: Fergus, Farkle, and Felicia, the children of Donkey and Dragon: Bananas, Parfait, Peanut, Eclair, Coco and Debbie and the others also need Anastasia Tremaine and Melody's help to protect and save their kingdom called Far Far Away away from Rumpelstiltskin, Death and the other Official Villains of Disney and DreamWorks, because Anastasia Tremaine is now a good person, while, Melody is the daughter of Prince Eric and Princess Ariel, but in the Shrek 5 movie, I also want to see the death of Queen Lillian, because since her husband named King Harold passed away in the Shrek 3 movie, she has felt heartbroken and that caused his own death in his kingdom called Far Far Away, and all the inhabitants of Princess Fiona and King Artie's kingdom called Far Far Away are saddened by the death of Queen Lillian, because now she is with her husband named King Harold in heaven, and now they have lost their queen, that means now the kingdom of Far Far Away needs a new queen and King Artie said that his love interest, girlfriend, fiancée and former classmate from Worcestershire school called Princess Guinevere would be the one to be the new Queen of Far Far Away, so King Artie decided to return to his old school called Worcestershire along with Shrek, with his older cousin Princess Fiona, with Donkey, with Dragon, with Puss in Boots, with Kitty Softpaws, with Perrito, with the children of Shrek and Princess Fiona: Fergus, Farkle and Felicia, with the children of Donkey and Dragon: Bananas, Parfait, Peanut, Eclair, Coco and Debbie and with the others to meet again with their friends from their school who are actually Prince Lancelot, Princess Tiffany and their love interest, girlfriend and fiancée Princess Guinevere to take them back to their kingdom called Far Far Away, and in the Shrek 5 movie, I also want to see the romance of all the Official Disney Princes and Princesses from their respective movies, especially the romance of Maui and Queen Moana Waialiki, the romance of Hiccup Haddock and Princess Mérida, the romance of Jack Frost and Princess Elsa, the romance of Prince Lancelot and Princess Tiffany and the romance of King Artie and Princess Guinevere, because I think in the Shrek 5 movie, Maui will be Queen Moana Waialiki's love interest, boyfriend and fiancé, while Hiccup Haddock will be Princess Mérida's love interest and boyfriend, Princess Tiffany will be Prince Lancelot's love interest, girlfriend and fiancée and Princess Guinevere will be King Artie's love interest, girlfriend and fiancée, because Queen Moana Waialiki is going to fall in love with Maui, Princess Mérida is going to fall in love Hiccup Haddock, Princess Tiffany is going to fall in love with Prince Lancelot and Princess Guinevere is going to fall in love with King Artie, but they don't know how to tell them their feelings towards them and neither how to win their hearts, because every time Queen Moana Waialiki gets too close to Maui when it comes to true love, she gets very nervous with him, while which in the case of Princess Mérida is also the same, because whenever Princess Mérida gets too close to Hiccup Haddock when it comes to true love, she also gets very nervous with him, in the case of Princess Tiffany it is also the same, because whenever Princess Tiffany gets too close to Prince Lancelot when it comes to true love, she also gets very nervous around him, and in the case of Princess Guinevere too, because every time Princess Guinevere gets too close to King Artie when it comes to true love, she also gets very nervous around him, but luckily for them, Princess Fiona will help Queen Moana Waialiki to win the heart of Maui, also Princess Mérida to win the heart of Hiccup Haddock, also Princess Tiffany to win the heart of Prince Lancelot and also Princess Guinevere to win the heart of King Artie, and I also want that in the Shrek movie 5, Jack Frost will be Princess Elsa's love interest and boyfriend, because Jack Frost leaves fall in love with Princess Elsa, but he doesn't know how to tell her his feelings and how to win her heart, because every time Jack Frost gets too close to Princess Elsa when it comes to true love, he gets very nervous with her, but fortunately for him, Shrek will help Jack Frost to win the heart of Princess Elsa, except Princess Raya and Princess Mirabel Madrigal, because now they will be the only Official Disney Princesses who do not need to have love interests and who can remain single forever, and I also say the same for Melody, the daughter of Prince Eric and Princess Ariel, because like Princess Raya and Princess Mirabel Madrigal, she doesn't need a love interest either, but in the Shrek 5 movie, I also want to see the rivalry between King Artie and Queen Anna because they both want to compete in a challenge to see who is the best monarch a of a kingdom, that is, the best ruler of a kingdom, because both want to do what is best for their own kingdom, because King Artie wants to do what is best for his kingdom called Far Far Away because now he is the new King of Far Far Away and Queen Anna wants to do the best for their kingdom called Arendelle because now she is the new Queen of Arendelle, but at the end of the Shrek 5 movie, King Artie and Queen Anna become best friends in the world, because at the end of the Shrek 5 movie, they both learned from their mistakes that they have made since their challenge to compete to see who is the best monarch of a kingdom, that is, the best ruler of a kingdom, and that at the end of the Shrek 5 movie, King Artie and Princess Guinevere see their first true love kiss and that they become a romantic couple, just like Prince Lancelot and Princess Tiffany, and also that at the end of the Shrek 5 movie, Maui, Hiccup Haddock, Kristoff Bjorgman, Jack Frost, Prince Lancelot and King Artie become the new official members of the Official Disney Princes, while Queen Anna, Princess Elsa, Princess Mirabel Madrigal, Princess Tiffany and Princess Guinevere become the new official members of the Official Disney Princesses and that one day, Princess Tiffany will be the wife of Prince Lancelot and that they have a son and a daughter, that is, a family in the future, and that also Princess Guinevere is the wife of King Artie, that they also have a son and a daughter, that is, a family and that she becomes the new Queen of Far Far Away in the future.

Disney can’t pretend they don’t like villains when the very first scene of their very first feature film was the introduction of the villain!
This is a really well thought out and put together video. Thank you for making it!
The 90s had some of the best villains of all time as for John silver in treasure planet I don’t think of him as a villain
I would like to create the term the Disney vilan highbrows (like how soo menny Disney vilans have tall eyebrows)

Disney villains are needed for the challenging the heroes to be super
Not always. There are other ways to bring about antagonists as well, some not even a character. Not all antagonists are villains, and not all villains are antagonists (the protagonist can be a villain, and the antagonist can be a hero). Or they can be completely neutral.
This video makes me want to go watch Beauty and the Beast and Hunchback of Notre Dame ASAP.
Well most of Disney’s work are retellings of other fairytale/stories. Those stories were well written.
That is some brilliant analisis
Honestly this isn't even a disney problem it's just feels like a lot of entertaiment media is forgeting how importen villains are in stories in one way or another
Who else is doing this?
When people say stuff like this, all it tells me is that you should expand your taste in entertainment media.

We need a real villain like in the 80s and 90s
I'm completely skeptical about Wish. I know this movie was a freaking century in the making, but I don't trust Disney to make a good mustache twirling villain like they did in ye olden days of the Golden, Silver, Bronze Ages, and the Renaissance.
We need the old Disney villians back, villians who are shown to be evil in the beginning and evil at the end.
This is also how all governments gain power
Newer disney twist villains- naaaah
*Disney Twst villains* 👀👀👀
(Please tell me at least one person gets it)
A villain who is actually likable and holds the charm and threat of the old characters.

I completely agree Disney's great villains again. Cuz I'm sick and tired of not having a villain or having a twist villain.
I think that’s a bit much?

I really wanted to watch this, but it sounds like 1 run-on sentence, and I can't take it all in. Not trying to critique out of spite, but I think you need some pauses/breaths.
I think because of the evils of Ron DeFascist, Disney animators will consider that their no villain rule doesn't necessarily means that would make the movie realistic and nuance, trying to be like Miyazaki. Some people are just douches
Okay if you like elemental then your opinion means nothing
