I just looked up ways to stop smoking because my 6 year old grandson said to me today ""granny I dont want to sit on your knee because you always smell like smoke" that really hit me, I have smoked 50 years, am type 1 diabetic, my aunt died at 55 with emphysema, had an oxygen tank on her back for 2 years, also my sister died at 48 with pancreatic cancer, doctors said smoking , disgusting habit

@@vijayvijay4123 Hi. I was smoking for 20 years. If you really want to quit listen: It is not a few days/months process. To completely quit mentally needs years. And since you now know that, you also know that you need to keep the guard up for that long. Guard up means; whenever you have the wish for the smoke, simply be aware that is only your mind wish, and not yours, so you can shake it off. That awareness helped me to quit. Why that works: Mind is waiting for you to agree even partly to the idea, to soften you up (whatever be the reason). Guard fully up is being aware of that and not allow to agree internally one bit. Happy quitting!

What stands out to me is how you replaced the Desire to smoke a cigarette. That Cue.

Already have stopped coughing, breathing easier, saving money, $20 a pack in Aussie. This video randomly appeared on my feed again so, i decided to check in.
2 years without smoking!! It's not a lot compared to how many years i smoked.
I feel like i smoked in an other life.
Gained a lot of weight and muscle.
Its funny everytime i smell the smoke of someone it brings me a billion memories.
As much as i liked smoking i would never, without a doubt go back to it. Maybe if the world ends haha.
The first time i quited smoking was because i liked a girl and wanted to get in shape. It was easy. I lasted 4 months without smoking. The second time was my last time quitting and was the hardest because i did it for myself...
I started buying a pack of cigarettes and only smoking 1 cigarette out of it and destroying the pack afterwards. I don't remember how many times i did that, and how much money i wasted😂. I felt really awful everytime i realized i bought a pack just to smoke 1 cigarette. I think after 1 month of doing that i made it. Not buying and smoking was just the beginning of the journey.
      I was tired.
I liked smoking a lot, it was like coffee for me. Except i don't drink coffee haha.
If you are going to quit, do it for yourself.
I don't dream about cigarettes anymore like i used to.😅
I'm not really counting months go by anymore like in the beginning.
I have an app called Quit tracker set for 5 years. An other 3 years and i will reach my goal.
Well, i hope i can check back in 3 years from now.
      Peace✌️✌️

That motivational stuff you said at the end. Trying to get people to think about what they want to change, thinking about that all the time, manifests itself, becomes the catalyst to change your life for the better...
    That made me cry.

I'm really glad that you've taken control of your situation, and the difference between then and now, really is like night and day.

Feels great to not be a slave to that industry and I started putting my money towards building my game collection instead. It's also when I decided to start UA-cam, cause like you said, you gotta do something with all that new free time. You summed up all them negative feelings I went through while being addicted pretty well. Keep on rockin' then lungs Johnny!

I can definitely relate to some degree since I used to smoke weed..... And while its not as addictive, it became a bad habit. You have that moment, that first "high", and then you keep chasing it trying to reliving it and its peak. And the funny thing is I didn't inhale it the first time as well. Now I'm only 18 and I picked up that habit a few years ago BUT thankfully I quit awhile back. My dad just stopped smoking cigarettes the other month (he's 60) and he's been smoking since he was 14. You've really done something great for yourself man!!

Seeing this video now, it all makes sense. Not that you need it all these years later, but congrats!!

I only ever smoked when I was with friends in a situation I considered worth smoking, like some night outs, some time after a pen exam, etc. about one single cigarette every one or two months. 3 days I bought my first pack and lighter after a moment of great stress and worries. I am 19 by the way. I drove home feeling disgusted with myself. I got to my apartment's parking lot, punched a wall and tossed the cigarettes and lighter into a trash can and did not bother to look back. I hope it stays that way.

Eric Rose "I blame cigarettes for everything wrong in my life". Damn. This is so true. Cigarettes take away your money, and your health. They become a social barrier, and an emotional blanket, helping to isolate you from the public eye under the guise of normal. When in fact, you're burying emotions.
Let it go. Toss that last cigarette, and be prepared to reap the benefits. You can take time off work to get ready for the withdrawals, but life is the reason you smoked. So be prepared to confront it.
