@mac609 We went while on a Carnival Cruise as well. After the crank ferry there is a van that will take you to the park entrance. From there you will walk up hill to the ruins. I would estimate it as less than half a mile from what I can remember. The uphill was not bad to get into the main area there were some people will movement issues (canes) that made the climb with us. Now the climb up to the top of the temple was a different story. That was optional and quite a few did not climb up.
Was there in July 2012 not as many people as your trip . Very nice The cab drivers are all NASCAR wantabes, to and from Belize was fast ...... I will go back
@brianmshaw - I'm going to be in Belize next Wednesday by way of a Carnival Cruise. Can you tell me how strenuous the walk is from the hand cranked ferry to the ruin site entrance? I hear it's a mile long walk uphill. From some reviews on the trip to the ruins I've seen, the cruise line provides a van to the ruin entrance. Any incite from you would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
