  • The differences between the Super Lead and Super Bass are often discussed in the internet, but, what about the lost brother? The SUPER PA?
on the top: 1969 Marshall Super PA 100W, bone stock, but serviced (new caps aso) - still laydown power transformer and dark brown circuit board (active when red light on the Palmer TINO is on)
on the bottom: 1969 Marshall Super Bass 100W, bone stock, but serviced (new caps aso) - still laydown power transformer and dark brown circuit board (active when green light on the Palmer TINO is on)
Both amps switched with a Palmer TINO Amp Switcher into the half side of the Mesa Rectifier 2x12, with 1x EV12L Speaker working at 8 Ohms
guitar: 1991 Gibson Les Paul Custom Black Beauty, stock pickups
effects: custom made 3 in 1 pedal from Mercy Seats; at first using the overdrive and later the fuzz
If you stand in front of both amps, you can FEEL a difference. The Super Bass is noticeably cleaner and bassier. Just a little bit boomy. It's easier to dial out the boomy bass on the Super PA. At the same volume level the Super PA is crispier and more marshallesque.
both amps are played on very low volume levels, but bridged channels. It's ca. 104 dB in the room....
both sound very, very good, but different.
