All Foundation Course learners, both riders and non-riders, undertake evening stables during the 12-week course. This takes place from approximately 3.30pm until 5.30pm on weekdays, with timings differing during the weekends. But what skills and knowledge will learners develop during evening stables? Here are just a few...
✅ Understand how to correctly groom a horse. Including picking out feet, hot clothing and using a cloth to wash their faces, etc.
✅ Understand how to correctly muck out a stable, both straw and shavings, including removing the muck, turning the banks and adding clean bedding.
✅ Ensuring horses have clean water and fresh hay/haylage.
✅ How to fit rugs, particularly in the cooler months.
✅ Cleaning and tidying the yards.
✅ How to work well in a team.
During each step, our Training Instructors and Yard Supervisors are on hand to ensure all the above points are completed to a high standard and that learners are working well towards industry standards.
