Ancient Mayan City of Palenque

Theories suggest this sacred space was built as a priestly center, arranged in an amphitheater style with a central pyramid. However, only a small amount of the ancient Mayan city of Palenque is estimated to be uncovered, leaving much speculation over certain aspects in history when considering Mayan presence in the area in its entirety.
