This is my first attempt at a tutorial, so any feedback is appreciated! Sorry in advance if there are any problems with the Project File. I'll try to fix any issues when I get the chance (assuming there are any) 🙏
Great tutorial. Haven’t worked with AE but was curious how people made these amazing looking motion manga. Are all those camera movements standard in AE?
@@nach-q1b it's still interesting nonetheless, how he managed to deform the limbs at the right place and just enough. Control over such deformations can't just come from anchor points.. well that's my two cents.
Pretty interesting method. I personally don't use blend modes enough but when I see them used like this I am reminded of how powerful they really are! Also it was really useful having both versions of the tutorial in this video. I could for sure see how a step by step instruction of how to navigate the beast that is AE would be super helpful to new users, while still having the simpler version for those who know more about the program! Great stuff over all and hopefully we see more of this in the future!
awasome tutorial, I watched it with little English and understood everything. I'm really looking forward to the tutorial on body movements. It was your videos that gave me the motivation to try to make the same edits as you
Try making a adjustment layer, and then adding threshold and radial blur, it’s much quicker, and I don’t know if you already do it, but adding deep glow to impact frames makes them looks spicier
Really great tutorial! Your edits are some of the best I have ever seen. Im currently trying to pick up AE and your tutorial was really useful. Also my suggestion is if you could do a tuotrial on the body animations!
This tutorial was very helpful anf informative! if you're able to would you be able to link any resources that helped you get started with MMVs and Manga animations?
When I started I just kinda learned through trial and error, so I don't really have specific resources to share. That said, if you are starting (and assuming you're using After Effects and have a solid understanding of the software), I'd recommend searching "mmv after effects tutorial" on UA-cam. There are some really useful videos for basic hair and eye animation, as well as compositing. I also recommend specifically looking into Puppet Pins. Hope something there helps. Sorry I couldn't be more specific!
this tutorial was very helpful! this is unrelated but do you have any kind of tutorial for your lighting on characters and backgrounds? do you use any plugins for them?
The reason why they are not sued for making videos with other people's works is because there is love there and Shueisha and others tacitly approve of it. If you make money from it, the possibility of being sued arises. Don't be a jerk.
imma be real, i dont work with this type of stuff and i didnt understand anything bc i dont even have the program but even then it was cool to watch. Your voice is def good for tutorials
I always imagined Naoya having a yellow trail behind him, sort of like The Flash, y'know, cause he is fast... Its not the brightest idea, but I think the color really fits his characters, with him being this faint haired, bratty arrogant prick just flying around. Oh well maybe someday.
i usually use cc threshold but to make things black and white but this seems to be a much more intuitive way to manipulate how much black and white you want.
oh you did NOT just upload that while i'm animating a commission for someone. (i'm still gonna draw the impact frames but your aesthetic is infinitely cooler)
Thanks! this helped me so much. Another method I found was using Threshold and adding S_BlurMotion. It isn't that smooth unlike this method, but if you want it fast, it gets the job done.

Could you make a tutorial about the body animations? What do you do for them to be so smooth?
Yeah I’ve never seen someone do it so naturally with manga panels I want to try but so daunting tbh!
he used anchore point and easy ease keyframing i think
@@nach-q1b it's still interesting nonetheless, how he managed to deform the limbs at the right place and just enough. Control over such deformations can't just come from anchor points.. well that's my two cents.

I fking love you
You’re a big inspiration for someone trying to get back into editing ❤️❤️
My biggest problem its the trasition between animation, when i make them they all look separate
Man! I love your videos a lot! It's hella expressive!
i usually use cc threshold but to make things black and white but this seems to be a much more intuitive way to manipulate how much black and white you want.
Do you ever stream yourself creating MMVs or is all that bts stuff only on the patreon?
