Viewing Mingo Falls & Short Tour Of Cherokee, NC Just Outside Edge Of Smoky Mountains National Park

I can't show you Smoky Mountains National Park like I wanted to because of new NPS commercial filming regulations. However, I can show you this footage of Mingo Falls as well as Cherokee, NC that is just outside of the park to the South.
Mingo Falls is taller than any waterfall actually inside of Great Smoky Mountains National Park and is one of the tallest in the Southern Appalachian Mountains. It is 120 ft tall and cascades down 200 ft of rock face. It is accessed by a short 1/4 mile trail and up 161 steps so can be slightly strenuous for those not terribly fit (I am by no means fit and I didn't have any issues).
We also walked around a little bit of Cherokee, NC itself which is actually an Indian Reservation and serves as the capital of the Eastern Band of the Cherokee Nation. So, this is a great place to learn about the people as well as supporting them with your patronage to local shops and restaurants.
If you like nature and want to get away from the hustle and bustle of Gatlinburg and/or Pigeon Forge, this is a great side trip to take.
