@@JeannetteRyland apu will run as long the alternator is charging. That’s the serpentine belt, running the alternator and the ac compressor. As long as that belt is on the apu will run and once temp sensor sends the signal engine is hot then it will shut it down.
It will run. The water pump belt only engages the water pump. So as your APU runs, your water pump is not. If this is happening you'll get shutdown codes.
How can the apu run if the belt is broken? It doesn't make since.

I checked that belt. It’s still intact. But the fan still clicks on and off until completely off, checked all the fuses and oil

Also low Freon will cause the same symptoms
