What a thrill seeing his writing desk, and being so physically close and connected to the history in that way!

001st....looking at this Tropical location on a miserable rainy damp day in London is a real contrast. This is an excellent tour, its always a challenge trying to keep a group of people focused and all together but you did it David. Bravo🍸

An excellent return to our adventure. I now have the urge to grab some rum and walk through my garden, which I view through my Goldeneye glasses now. I look forward to return with my newfound family.

That was an awesome tour David, thank you so much for filming that. Visiting Goldeneye has been on my bucket list for decades.
My favorite part I think 🤔 was actually the private cove and the little rockpool down on the water. To me that was the perfect example of a serene hideaway where your world was your own.
Also the pool off the lounge was just perfect for a plunge after a 10 hour flight ✈️ from LGW. Thanks again.😊

As a former British Navy officer, Ian Fleming was fascinated with the Royal Navy as it was the bedrock of British imperial glory. Fleming just idolised Horatio Nelson, who visited Jamaica in 1777.
Still called the "Commander", Fleming's choice of clubbishness furniture and colours at the Goldeneye bungalow certainly had Royal Navy connotations. Not even mentioned in this video 🤔
Fleming enjoyed local fish, lobsters and always pushed his visitors to embrace all things Jamaican including "dangerous" looking food. And that was also a Royal Navy thing !
However, in the end his "life style" smoking morland cigarettes, drinking Bourbon & Gin contributed to an early end of his life on that Royal St George Golf court in Sandwich UK (August 12, 1964).
2024 = 60th anniversary of Ian Fleming's death, looking forward to this book: Ian Fleming: The Complete Man (Nicholas Shakespeare - published by Harvill Secker ) 🧐

David, that was exactly what I've been waiting years to see . Thank you. Incredible how seeing things like the beach and around it really invoke a strong sense of Bond . 👏

Cheers David for putting together these brilliant videos from Goldeneye. They have been both entertaining and educational. To think the origin of James Bond began at that desk is so awe inspiring.

Simply amazing! I sure hope to see this for myself next month. But if not, this makes you feel as if you were there anyway. I heard someone say this makes them want to read all the Bond books over again, and see if there is a different feel to them now that they saw his writing area and home. That is a great idea! Thank you again for posting these videos for us!!!!

Nice, the main house isn't huge, but feels large and open. I would have liked to see the kitchen, but I suppose it was in use preparing the samples seen later on. I love that the window sills also act as counter tops for service. I am intrigued, though... with only wooden shudders for the windows, the area must be protected from major weather (hurricanes for example)? Even a wind and rain storm would reek some havoc if it blew into the area. Do the shudders really keep the weather out?

Interesting video..... I believe that Anthony Eden, British PM, wasn’t impressed with Goldeneye when he stayed there, with Ian & Ann in the 1950’s...... he found it to be very basic and primitive!!!!! Also what has happened to the fresh water shower that was in a cave down on the private beach???? I viewed it in January 1997 with John Cork & Co....
Also the steps down to the beach in 1997 where goat track than polished stepping stones!!!!! Regards Ian Scorey 👨‍🎤🇳🇿👍🏉

David, Fantastic tour. I am a Fleming/Bond purist. Although I enjoy the modern interpretation of all things Bond, I like Flemings, as that is Bond the character and the books take us inside bonds mind, that is Bond. To get such a detailed tour of the villa was amazing. Do you know if Fleming owned a vehicle on the island that he housed in the garage? A Sunbeam perhaps? Not sure if you know, but that would be a very interesting part of the Fleming story. I have read a couple of bio's and I don't recall any mention of a vehicle. Thanks for the tour. Great to have the go to expert "The Bond Experience".
