I built bit over 17 foot kayak and want to put a sail on it. Its light weight and a bit over 21 inches at it's widest and I'm wondering how to choose the right sail. Also would it need a dagger board of some sort, also can they sail to windward? Any info will be greatly appreciated, cheers Al
Probably the best sail is 'flat earth' available from Expedition Kayaks' in Sydney. Don't worry about a daggerboard, you can paddle sail upwind a bit but it's really best off the wind

On sea kayaks the norm is 'paddle sailing' so usual sail is 'Flat Earth'. No daggerboard mainly sailing off the wind. As in my video.
