Hello George, I really like your videos. I need to do the opposite of this. How do I fill a hollow ring? can you teach me how to do that? I have zbrush 4r7, I'm from Argentina. thanks very much buddy.
DAMN ALL THIS TO CUT A PART § Z BRUSH SHOULD SERIOUSLY MAKE IT EASIER WITH ONE TOOL ! this is so despointing for a modeling software ! ! but thanks for the video man good job !
The inside and outside have different Polygroups. He used 'Select Rectangle' brush to Ctrl+Shift Click on the inside part (this will isolate it and hide the outer part). Then just delete hidden (outer part).
When you're dealing with precious metals, that small amount of material could end up being a significant amount. I don't remember exactly how much this ring weighed, but hollowing it would have probably saved me 20.00$+ in material alone. If you were getting it done by a casting house or other service it would end up being even more. But maybe you want the extra weight on the ring. I personally like the feel of a heavier ring. Feels more expensive. But if it's something you wear every day, you might wanna take some weight off.
You mean the resistance against your finger? I don't often wear rings, so it's tough to say. But I'd imagine as long as it's comfort fit it wouldn't be a problem.
thank you . very useful . at the price of gold these days , all my clients want the rings hollowed . I use Matrix and Rhino and i am very good at it . But new to Zbrush , have a lot to learn . So yes , 1000000 thanks

Very good video thank you very much man
Amazing!!!!
Why would you even want to do that?
I mean, you're not saving much material, since it's something as small as a ring.
When you're dealing with precious metals, that small amount of material could end up being a significant amount. I don't remember exactly how much this ring weighed, but hollowing it would have probably saved me 20.00$+ in material alone. But if it`s hollow, it could mean less resistance in the material as well.
Wouldn't that be a problem?
