  • Join me for a walk around the oldest and most beautiful part of what was once described as the 'world's greatest naval port': Portsmouth! Situated on an island just off England's south coast, Portsmouth is a cradle of British maritime heritage, home to soaring historic ships, sprawling defensive walls and countless more landmarks that give a fascinating insight to its illustrious naval history!
    On our walk around Portsmouth, we pass a number of interesting landmarks, including Portsmouth Point, Spice Island, Portsmouth Fortifications, The Round Tower, The Hot Walls, Hot Walls Beach, The Square Tower, The Old Sally Port, Statue of Horatio Nelson, The Long Curtain, The Domus Dei, Old High Street, Portsmouth Cathedral, Camber Quay, Isle of Wight Ferry Terminal, Gunwharf Quays, The Grand Storehouse, Figurehead of HMS Marlborough, Site of Mill Pond, The Old Customs House, Figurehead of HMS Vernon and the Spinnaker Tower.

    I grew up in Portsmouth in the 60s and have learned more about the city's history from this one video than I did in 12 years of education. Thank you. However, shame on the education system that failed to teach children the history of our great city.

    Im a pompey boy now living in Western Australia, I made many trips back from 2014 and would go about as a tourist just to re-see my childhood

    I love to walk round Portsmouth and it is a nice place to walk round and see what history of a navy port and the building and it feels like having a good time and seeing all the ships and ferries and island of wright and the warrior

    I love Portsmouth. Both of my children went to university there and I used to visit a lot. I last did a day trip last year.

    I have to say Portsmouth looks a lot cooler at night time using drones. Still epic here, and a cracking video, but the towers look amazing with some lights around

    Gunwharf was never a storage facility, it was a naval base, HMS Vernon, a minesweeper establishment.

    I was born & bred in Portsmouth. The comments about IBM and Zurich are not accurate as IBM arrived in the mid 1970's at a site near North Habour. The building was near Cosham's KG V playing fields.
