Short range, vortex crossfire 4-12x44. Longer range, vortex crossfire 6-18x44. You can’t beat them for the price, and I do not know anyone who has had issues with them. 4-12 is $150, 6-18 is $212
I am going for my first deer here in Fl. Last hunting i did was when I was 15 in Pierce Idaho. If i can't get a deer, coyote and hogs are always in season here in Central Florida. So glad you mentioned other game. I wasn't going to take my predator call, but now i will definitely pack it
Just started watching your videos, I’ve watched about 5 so far and these are great videos! Awesome presentation. I’ve subscribed and look forward to watching many more videos! Keep up the good work!
#1 - Bonus: Time change always gets me. Also read the regs about legal shooting time; Colorado has a time adjustment for cities (+13 Grand Junction, -10 Burlington)
Good points. We are eager to see hunt & results. We have 2020 elk in the freezer compliments of my daughter for her birthday/graduation present this year. My son & I have harvested 2 doe & 1 nice buck in archery already & Gun season is at hand. Happy hunting all you freedom loving hunters. Praying for safety and success.
Your boots may be too tight. I had the same problem, went a size larger and it was much better. Regular leather boots can dry out over time and shrink, it happened with a pair of danners I had and I lost 4 toe nails after elk season as a result of my boots shrinking
I have a recommendation, what if you guys reviewed a browning bar mk2 safari? I love how you guys review guns (brutally, lol) and im wondering how well this rifle would perform in a hunting scenerio. Thanks so much if you do this!
I just purchased a ruger american based off of your guys review and I love it. Next thing on the list is gonna be a muzzleloader. Id love for you guys to do a budget muzzleloader comparison because I've been looking around and nobody has.
I can make it simple for you...just get a break action inline. CVA makes some really nice ones and so does Traditions. I had a CVA Accura v2 in .50cal and it was very accurate and easy to load/reload/clean.
Not sure if you have the time but pleas do a side by side of the leupold rx-2800 and the vortex 4000 plus any other ultra long range models you think are worth. 🥃cheers🍻
Get some good rest, certainly. If you are driving in the morning to go to your hunting site, load as much stuff in your vehicle the night before as possible. So, in the morning, it is just a matter of loading your rifle in there. That beats the heck out of spending another thirty minutes or so of gathering up things you could have already packed. Getting up early in the morning, you are racing the clock to first light. Although, from what I have seen, most deer are harvested in broad day light or even at dusk, not very often at the crack of dawn.
Tape the muzzle of the rifle with electrical tape to protect that crown and prevent dust/rain/mud from entering the barrel. Pack a compass and map as a backup to gps. Pack a steel mesh fillet glove for your non-knife hand to prevent serious cuts.
A well known member of the New Zealand Zealand Deerstalkers Association, Chaz Forsyth, did some testing of this with an unsuppressed rifle. It did not change point of impact at all out to 300m. Suppressed rifles however, are another story. I've read that taping the muzzle of a suppressed rifle can change the point of impact. It was third hand, someone referring to someone else who was referring to a study that I haven't found yet, so ymmv.
@@scotteger6271 Taping muzzle is common up here in Alaska. Go Hunt did a nice demo showing it does not affect accuracy : ua-cam.com/video/A4blympOSx0/v-deo.html
8) extra battery 9)clip fingernails 10) extra tags for game....9 was random but funny. Love the channel and want to see more great quality videos like yall have done.
I used it with another group from our hunting party in AZ for cow elk hunt. Both of us had some issues. It seems to be more user error than glitch with system. But we both had serious issues with waypoints not being accurate. We almost lost a downed elk & a quartered elk hanging in the mountains because way points were way, way off. Has anyone else experienced any issues with OnX?
I started using Huntstand this year and it seems to work well. There's a free version that doesn't give you much but the full version isn't that expensive. Can share hunting area information with other users like family or friends, such as stand/blind locations, cameras, scrapes, etc.
Don’t know where else to make this comment, but you should make a video BEFORE CHRISTMAS to review the savage rascal and maybe some other youth 22s. Would greatly appreciate your opinion on it
You guys should make a video on budget rifle scope around 200$ some time.

Vortex diamondback 4-12x40mm easy choice
I agree with the two posts above! Also, The Leupold Marksman turned out as a nice surprise!
Still a shootoff with sub $300 scopes would be a good series
Check out Athlon optics

I also take my torque wrench and checked action screws, mounts and rings....

Sun screen. It might be cold, but if youre outside whole day in a dry area, you will get sun burned. Happens every time to me in the Karoo veld

Cut your toenails. I have lost a few from going downhill heavy. Great channel.

@@cliffordschorr True that. Old pair of leather boots had shrunk and the Idaho backcountry was not forgiving. Stay safe Good Sir.

Good luck, I just got back from Colorado on a 10 day hunt and we did not see any elk at all. Even the outfitters said it was a bad year.
Same here,
Ouch. I hope your luck improves.

Thompson Center also has some great guns for an affordable price.
You guys should make a review on the 17HMR caliber for small game!!!! And maybe even compare it to 22LR. Thanks guys!!
As well as 22 mag...since it's based on the magnum cartridge
Are you guys planning on doing a review of the SIG CROSS rifle?

Please do a review of the TC Compass ll with the new trigger. You're doing a great job with this channel. Keep up the good work. Best regards.

Hey I recognize you. Do you still have your photography channel.
Should do a review on some backpacks like savotta, fjalleaven, tynot, cabelas and the such.
Tatonka. I've got the Lastenkraxe load carrier, absolutely brilliant.
What rifle did you decide to bring?

How to attach tag... use some of that paracord you recommended carrying!
Zip ties are a great and easy way to attach a tag
Please do a comparison of bino harnesses!
I'll take that "disater zone" anyday!
If you're hunting a higher-elevation and/or dryer climate than where you live, bring lip balm.
