"Tiny, little, beautiful, vicious"... that's a pigmy for you. Oh oh, I'm 5 ft. and shrinking and would likely disappear in that deep snow till Spring. By that time any viciousness would be frozen. Your persistence and presentation, Steve, were terrific. Thank you and safe travels.
And there it is….for the fans and friends who know and love you …your true beautiful self comes through with the size of a beer can analogy….more please.
Thanks buddy🙏
That is a superb set of images. I like too many of them to comment on individual images.
Best wishes for 2023.
Thanks, you too!
Absolutely beautiful images and lovely music, serene, peace and calm...❤️🙏

That was an awesome opportunity for a very cool owl. Fantastic Steve!

WOW! You get the coolest images! Your hard work REALLY paid off! Thanks for taking me along!
I am glad I watched every second of this video. Well done!!!! Get some hot coffee !
The best way to remember your snowshoes, is to forget your snowshoes one time. Nothing like postholing every step to help you remember why they invented snowshoes. Great images as usual
So true
Nice way to end my day. Great photography and I always enjoy learning. Have a great 2023👍🏻
OMG! OMG! Your eye for how to capture light is otherworldly!! Not to mention your ability to capture the milli second of time! These photos are beyond beautiful. It’s like they are messages from God. The light, Steve, the light!
Wow, thank you🙏
Beautiful little owl.
Beautiful and magnetic Pigmy owl, Thanks for sharing these magics moments.

Great images Steve and admire your patience out in the field.

Steve,as usual great. glad your back ,thanks from Canada..
Love your presentation - superb ! I've never had the good fortune to photograph an owl or see one anywhere in the wild.
Great footage and what a way to start 2023!!! Cheers...
Beautifully done! Have a great time in Africa!
Thanks!
Oh my goodness! Wonderful images!!
Absolutely amazing! Happy 2023!!!
Loved the information about the Pygmy Owls at the end of the video.😊
It's incomprehensible to me how such a tiny owl can manage to catch a vole in that much snow, let alone carry it to a perch as I'm sure it weighs about the same! I was so blessed to find one here in NorCal last spring that I could find and photograph for over a month. I'm waiting for our storms to pass and then I'm off to see if it's returned to the same area. Great vlog Steve - I've been checking every day for too loooong!
👍
Very nice that you found this little owl.
True!
Cute owl, great photos, thank you.
Just stunning photos of the tiny owl, quite jealous! well done Steve have a good trip in Kenya!

When you trudge through the woods and find something special like this, all the previous hardship is forgotten. Great set of images and well worth the hiking! PS. Don't forget those snowshoes!
Absolutely

It really is
Wow. Just Wow. 🙏
Wonderful images of one of my favorite owls
Thanks🙏
I guess i need more friends... I am amazed at how many photographers will not talk about 'where' birds are found, yet most I see posting on the web say things like, "my friend told me about..." I'd like to be your friend Steve!!!

This is the most purely artistic work I have seen from you. Good job.

What a beauty! I could almost see the false eye spots in that one in flight photo. Can’t believe how big the prey was. Reminds me of a northern Hawk Owl.

Beautiful, beautiful pictures. Thank you for the info on the owl too. It was a bit hard to read, though, with the bright background and white letters. Happy New Year! I look forward to more wonderful photos.
Sorry about that
Beautiful images. Stunning work, sir.
What a beauty!
👍
Beautiful images and equally impressive dedication.

My goodness….such beauty you share with us. Your photography and videography is inspiring as is your humble nature. And your choice of music, typography, information sharing about the Pygmy owl, and editing skills are really wonderful.
Your work really touches me. Thank you so very much for sharing so much with us all.
The video, photos, and the information are all appreciated. Your determination is admirable. The exhaustion is palpable as is the effort. Well done, Steve. Happy New Year and I hope to enjoy many more vlogs of yours this year.
Many thanks 🙏
Beautiful work, As always.. Thank you
Thank you! Cheers!
A flock of nervous robins tipped me off to a Great Horned Owl in a local park not long ago. The owl was partly obscured from view, but at least I got a record shot of it.
You must have followed that pygmy for hours. I wished you'd gotten a video of it wolfing down that gopher!
Wow Steve that is awesome! I love your photography and vlogs! I feel your pain walking through that deep snow. I have done it many times as well and it is exhausting! :) I live up in the mountains of Eastern Washington state and we have these Northern Pygmy Owls around. I hear them down in the woods every now and then because they have a very distinctive high pitch chirp as I am sure that you know. I have never been able to find one in the woods but a few years ago one morning I looked out my window and saw this tiny little round ball with tail feathers sticking down in a Russian Olive tree in my front yard. I thought what in the heck is that and I went outside with my camera and to my delight it was a Northern Pygmy Owl right at eye level on a branch. I spent the whole morning watching and taking photos and he/she could not have cared less that I was there. It was one of the best photoshoots of my life and the only time that I have ever seen one in person. Hopefully one day I will find one again. Happy New Year to you and your family :)
Great stuff as usual, thanks Steve! I appreciate your dedication in that deep snow 😅👍🏼
THAT is fabulous!! Unbelievable images!! Excellent presentation also. I really enjoyed this show. Thank you so much for this and all the work you put into taking these shots and making this show. I really appreciate your work.
Glad you enjoyed it👍
Happy New Year Steve, I hope it is great one for you!! I like the info you put up towards the end of the video. I wish more photographers would do this, as some of us don't know much about some of the subjects people photograph in other countries. Your images of the Owl are amazing, the snow really helps it to stand out! All the best for your workshops, I hope you get to photograph some great subjects and meet some really great and interesting people!
Thanks and happy new year 👍
Always a pleasure! Happy New Year Steve!
Happy new year!
So so good. Beautiful images! Your hard work paid off!
🙏
Thanks for all you shared in 2022. I don't know how you walked thru all that snow but your persistence paid off, great video. Happy New Year and wish you great success in 2023.- Jeff

Stunning owl and photos! Almost looks like a kestrel owl 🦉
Thank you! Cheers!
Ohhhh nifty nifty! Never seen pygmy owls around here yet, though I understand they may be in the area from time to time. I'd love to capture a northern hawk owl too!
Wonderful, Steve!!! Beautiful photos!! Worth your time and sweat. Happy New Year and thanks for this video!!!
Happy new year👍
Happy New Year. Great video, amazing pictures! A brilliant start into 2023.
Thanks🙏
And then it was all worth it! Great job putting in the work. That first scene of the pigmy in backlit snowfall was pure magic.
Thanks🙏
I would have loved to know more of your pursuit of when you actually found it. Great pics, the last 2 or 3 are my faves.
How how how. I’ve spent hours with multiple different pygmies here in utah and have never seen them catch prey. Also haven’t ever seen a photo being taken of one flying before.
Amazing, well done! Great work of my favorite animal.
😂😂I just get lucky once in a while! And thank you very much🙏
Beautiful images.... and great video. I hope your workshops go well. Happy New Year!
Thank you! You too
Happy New Year Steve.. stunning images of a beautiful and yet ferocious little predator..!
Thanks🙏 you too
So cool! I had a really cool encounter with one this time last year in the Coast Range here in Oregon. Amazing birds.
Very cool
phenomenal
Thanks🙏
Your photos and videos are as much an emotional experience as they are a visual one. You capture these amazing owls in a way that emphasizes their solitary and mysterious existence. Mesmerizing and hauntingly beautiful...
Thank you very much 🙏
Wow...... Awesome!

Stunning Photos Steve, absolutely stunning. Happy New year 👍🏻
Thanks🙏 you too

Thanks for this Steve, I love the images you made. Trudging through that snow made me tired!! I am in N. VT and have very little snow, crazy for Jan.
Beautiful
