Ive never heard anyone tell me they hate them, they are the original bonded bullet, they always have been, and i think they still are the deadliest mushroom in the woods, especially out of any one of my Remington pumps, 180gr CoreLokT is the ticket, out of my .308 its always killed everything ive hit with them, really no matter where i hit them

      @@leadhead7338 The problem wasn't with the bullet design on the Corelokt bullets. The problem was with the company that bought Remington years ago and pretty much killed quality. Now that Federal bought Remington ammo the quality is coming back. A few years ago I got bad ammo twice in a row from remington. Some brass was crushed and some very undercharged cartridges. Their QC sucked. Hopefully, the Remington name will mean quality again.

    Try the M-CARBO pro spring kit for the Savage Axis. It comes with two new springs. A 2.5 lb and a 3.5 lb spring with 2 washers to stop the side to side movement on the factory trigger. I put the 2.5 lb one in my axis 243 and my son's axis 243 and both shoot like my Bergara B14. Came across it searching for a way to lighten my trigger without breaking the bank. Factory was nearly 6lbs and now breaks at 2lbs. Love watching your videos proving you don't need thousand dollar set-ups to have fun and shoot good.

      I second the mcarbo spring kit. Put one in my son's 6.5 and one in my 30-06. If you adjust the bolt that holds the spring there is no creep or over pull. It's the best 20 bucks you'll spend. I have a 223 with accutrigger. But you can't buy an axis II with a accutrigger for 20 more than the axis.

    The round makes all the difference for some. I have a BLR in .243 my dad got me as a young teen in 1974. Broke it in a carried 100gr CoreLokt for years, it always shot well (or so I thought) then I discovered Nosler Partition 100gr. That BLR LOVES flat base bullets. Looks like the Vanguard group. Boatails I'd be happy with anything inside 2" at 100

    • @nathanlambshead4778
      @nathanlambshead4778 2 роки тому

      Flat base is always that much more accurate unless you get way out there and it goes subsonic. That's the reason I stick with them. I don't take shots at 500 yards.

    Today I shot 2 Core Lokt Tipped rounds thru one hole at 100 yds, with a third round flyer (called) at 100 yds.
    I then shot a 3-round .75” group with standard Core Lokt’s at the same 100 yds.
    I’m 62, retired military, and have essential tremor, so bear with my crappy marksmanship.
    Core Lokt Tipped is my new hunting round, with original Core Lokt a close second/backup that hits within 1” of the Tipped.

      @@WHOTEEWHO for sure buddy. As i said the other day i have used core loct for years. I've always though their rimfire stuff was crap though so what i've really wondered since the new ownership is if it has got any better. (hint hint wink wink) lol I really hope it has but yes i enjoy these videos, you are welcome.

    I never killified a deer at more than 100 yards (plus or minus a few yards) in GA or TN using a rifle chambered in .250 Savage/.25-06/.308/.35 Rem…not so concerned with caliber used within reasonable distances we find locally …but more so with the human aspect of ability and training…your videos are epic…keep them up my TN Bro 😊

    My savage axis in .243 will do a 3/4inch group with Hornady superformance. They are great budget rifles with the right ammo

    We’ve got 2 Axis in .243 and they both group under an inch consistently with federal blue box 100 grain and federal trophy copper 85 grain. The one with an accutrigger is easier to shoot. Have one in .223 and .30-06 as well with standard trigger I put a lighter spring in and they also shoot under an inch.

    mine 270 win Axis had so bad bolt that i had to garage- jewel it with the grinder and scratch the surface of the bolt , also inside receiver groves polished. Trigger was so rough that I had to lock my butt chicks to pull it. After 3 hours of polishing and grinding I made it to work descent. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.

    I have a early 2000s Savage model 10 Walmart special that shoots Federal 100gr soft points into a 1.25-1.5 inch circle. I believe the rifle is capible of even better accuracy with a person who is a better shot than I am.

    your cold bore shot is what you need to be concerned with. if the 2 an 3 or even 4th shot is a concern and the spreed is consistent then you should split the difference with the scope if that makes sense, i have a few guns that the cold bore shot is always 1 inch from the dot and 2nd and 3rd are in the dot or touching it. then i split the difference when adjusting the scope never had a problem, hope this little tip might help it has worked for me over the years . i never adjust over more than 3 shots only and if the POI is pretty consistent.

    On ballistics gell seems within an inch in penetration but more damage on the way. On game seems to penetrate a lot more must slice it like the air. Pass throughs on everything with 308

    With the Axis, stiffen the forearm. I put cut off arrow shafts ( tight) in the chambers & fill it in with liquid steel. Tiny bit of extra weight but HUGE improvement. Dremel polish the sears with a cotton wheel & some rouge stick ( polishing compound. ( find at any hardware store) Will make ANY trigger smoother. When you clean your bore, run a wet oil patch through it & LEAVE the oil film in there. Will eliminate the fouling shot. Old gunsmithing trick.

      I tried that with my original axis. Didn’t help. Finally got a Boyd’s stock and bedded it and that and hand loads has been the only tricks to help my axis shoot acceptably

    • @sherrypulec1449
      @sherrypulec1449 2 роки тому

      @@WHOTEEWHO remove the stock and check the trigger spring, it will not be screwed all the way into the housing , after remington had rifles go off without having to touch the trigger, savage started setting their non accutrigger rifles with harder trigger pulls. for the first 200 rounds be sure to clean often, after that it will keep up with that weatherby. oh yea, the forearm has a habbit of rubbing the barrel when in a rifle rest, you may want to add a little more clearance between the stock and barrel due to the flexing of the stock.

    Love your channel. Great job. You’re busy making great videos and obviously taking care of your family, too. If you can find the time to take the bases off all of your Axis rifles and screw the bases and rings tight, I think you will achieve better groups. They just aren’t always very tight from the factory. They usually have leftover machining oil also allowing them to loosen slightly. Vanguards are great, too. Thank you!
