Hey Brother moving out to Tennessee, August 7th and NO I'm not from California LoL 😂 but I am from South Jersey which is nothing like North Jersey it's all farmland... Getting away from all these liberals dictating to us how to live!!! But just wanted to say keep them coming love the videos God bless you and your family ✝️🙏🏼
Hey M & G......yeah,I can relate. We live in Bucks County,Pennsylvania which you might know is the first county north of Philly. Absolutely get living with too many luberals ( no misspelling by accident). Were you in South South Jersey, like Millville,Vineland,Pine Barrens where Paulie and Chrissie got lost and almost froze or Blackwood,Clementon Glassboro? Best of luck in Tennessee. Great food, great people, better country music. What a prize getting that .243 Weatherby Vanguard at Walley World !!!!
My first long rifle was purchased when I was around 9 years old by my dad which was a Rem 700 .243 youth model. Harvested my first 3 deer with it. Fast forward almost 25 years later and now my dad carries in rifle season, the same rifle he bought for me and has harvested several deer after I've moved on to carrying my .300RUM and .308. Talk about full circle seeing my hero use my very first firearm as his go to when he has a plethora of other arms he could use. Its the littlest things in life that will make your heart happy.
My dad has used a sako 243 Most of his life hunting elk, bear, mule deer and Blacktail deer. He has shot and Killed many of these animals in his lifetime And mostly one shot kills with his 243 rifle. I think these bullets would do just fine for deer, but yes you have to practice and your shot placement definitely makes a difference most of the time.
I've taken many 300lbs+ barren ground caribou, and watched my brother take a bear all with 243 all stopped in their tracks. The 243 is truly all around when used right
@@jasonglaze7874 I think you should take the 243 this year Jason. It would help to go out and practice with it a little bit before, especially if you haven’t shot it much lately. If I wish to offer any advice, I would go for the back first if you have a back shot. I took one down quite easily that way. Or maybe a neck shot, but my dad took his last elk down with a behind the shoulder shot. I would put my dad‘s 243 up against any rifle in this world! Take your time and place your shot good and you will be fine. At least most of the time
Don’t worry about the last group. If you can consistently keep it in an inch you’re fine. Those who complain about a 1 inch group at a 100 yards don’t realize that’s acceptable. Here’s the challenge to those who complain. Get off the bench and get off the ground from being in the prone. Then shoot groups. People would find it hard to keep it in the inch group from sitting, kneeling, rested on a tree trunk, etc. I think your doing top notch.
My son is 33 yrs old and when he was 14 he took a 14 point buck that field dresses 146 lbs with that exact same gun. It was his paw paws gun. I helped process right at 700 white tail at the processing center in cross plains Texas this past season, non anywhere close to that. The buck my son took was taken in the long mountains in far western comanche County texas
Woof. Thats a small buck. I live in Iowa and have field dressed does that weigh more than 150. Then again, I always forget Iowa car killers are corn fed and are far larger than deer in other states.
@Kycirion Just had to urinate on his story, didn't you Iowa? I suppose, "Great thrill for a young hunter, or love 243s, or really love Savage, or whatever, rifles, or something neat is out of the question. While it wasn't an Iowan buck, it was only 4 lbs less than your huge does. Also, Texas does have much larger deer in the panhandle.
I Love the savage axis rifles. Sub moa out of the box with factory ammo. That axis you got there is the compact. I recently bought a Ruger American compact in 243 fory daughter few shots later I love it. Shoots sub moa out of the box with factory ammo. 90 grain in 243 is probably the lightest bullot I'd use for deer here. I like heavier bullots.
Same here in TX. Thank God I got my land when I did! I'm near Waco too and back home in Dallas prices have skyrocketed and Austin and San Antonio similar. Thank God Waco area hasn't blown up yet, but it's defenitly growing.
AWESOME video, luv my .243 & my .270. A friend of mine told me to try .243 58gr on coyotes and then some. WOW it was fantastic. If you haven't tried it, I suggest you try it. Thanks again for all the videos you share with us.
Enjoyed video. I’m not a Savage fan but I know they surely are producing quality firearms at reasonable prices. If I did not handload for my .243 I would definitely try some of that ammo. Thanks
Savage axis is a solid platform for a newer rifle. That wood on the Weatherby (ohhhhheeeee lol) is just beautiful. Ticks are bad! I ve had lymes disease for years 😔 causes all sorts of health problems. Be careful with that yall!
Hey Mark you might want to look into holistic remedies for lyme disease. Assuming it wasnt caught in the 6 month window, holistics is not witchcraft or crazy people. Its using natural herbs spices, plants to counteract the virus. Many nutritionists believe garlic kills viruses outright but it will never be brought to light because a clove of garlic is only $1.29
Seems like the heat got to them in the 2nd round. Back when you could get the accu-tip for reloading, I had some of my best groups with them in a 223. I think they were 50 grain. Anyways you could get them in 243 in 95 grain also. Not completely sure about the 95 grain cause it's been a while.
I've shot Remington 700 .243 simce I was 14. My Dad bought boys a couple Weatherby Vanguards. Both very good rifles and very accurate. Remington has a Timney trigger which makes it much better. The stock triggers on the Weatherby is very nice.
Adam thank you for what you do. In my neck of the woods folks use 100 grain SP in 243.. The Mass Exitidous from California is effecting most Rural States. I hope they leave their liberal views in California. Great Shooting.
@Clinton Layne my thoughts exactly, those Californians need to stay in that state and start voting for the correct party and fix their state instead of moving and ruining a good state
Man, both of those rifles are shooters. I sure would like to see what that little Axis could do with a better trigger. A $20 Mcarbo trigger kit would bring that trigger pull down. And would like to see you do the paper plates with a 243 game load instead of the varmint style bullet. 🎯🎯
Where you typically shoot whitetails, in heart/lung area, those should do the trick inside 200. They would be great for stretching out the distance on varmints though, depending on how good they group(posting before you shoot).
I bought some 22-250 ammo in Rem. AccuTip last year. 50 grain bullets. I bought a couple hundred rounds. I plan on testing some of those out in the very near future.
Took my first deer with .243 it did the trick but with little blood trail ran about 50 yards down a steep Ravine and back up again on the other side before crashing on the top of a huge hill I had crawl up. For hunting deer with .243 I'd say it's ideal for young children or small frame shooters with good shot placement. I like 30-06, manageable recoil and powerful takedown, deer wont take more than a few steps if any. Quick and easy.
Hey I've took deer with lighter loads in ky. Shot placement is everything. I was shocked to see the Vanguard group. I've owned several and everytime out of the box it was 1.5" gun. But those 75grn acutips is a decent round.
This again impressed me with the Remington ammo. I'm willing to pay a little more for ammo that's loaded with tighter tolerances. That Savage axis actually surprised the hell out of me with the groups you shot. Those Weatherby rifles of yours are beautiful. Even with the sporter barrel still shoots good groups. As they say one bullet in the right spot is all you need to do the job.
Excellent job on the shooting! The Weatherby always looks nice! It would be really cool if you could get your hands on some of those Weatherby magnums!🇺🇲✝️🇺🇲
Nice shootin , I had a .243 Winchester semi auto as a child . unfortunately I sold it almost 40 years ago and I regret it. I think one day I will get another one in bolt action . Take care,I enjoy all your videos .
I’ve got that same wby 243 off the Walmart clearance deal. Mine shot factory 100gr hornady American whitetail very well and LOVES my 85gr Sierra gameking handloads.
Personally, I would HIGHLY recommend against using that bullet for deer. If there's one thing I have learned over the years of testing and hunting with these light weight and high velocity varmint style bullets, they tend to almost explode on impact and give you very poor penetration on deer sized game. I have seen too many deer shot with varmint rounds in smaller calibers like 243 or 22-250 that end up wounded with a broken shoulder rather than being put in the freezer. The Winchester ballistic silvertips are another terrible round for deer for the same reason in my opinion, even though they aren't varmint bullets (I have seen many instances of them blowing apart on impact like a varmint round), but that's a debate for another day
I agree. A log of the interlock do this. They dont lock that well. Hornady too. Ron spomer does a good video on wanting good bullet weight for good penetration, if the tip mushrooms or explodes. That way their is a rear/shank with heavier/longer bullets that allows for better penetration. and if you cant go big enough go with a better bullet design, bonded bullet or solid copper or hard cast lead. Basically copper is the newer/better hard cast for big game.
@@rsbreeze yeah I would have no problems taking a deer at 300 with my 243 using Sierra gamechanger 90 grainers since I know those bullets perform really well, I just don't like seeing deer shot with varmint type bullets or bullets that are designed to come apart after impact
@@matttyreeoutdoors exactly, got to match your weapon and bullets for the situation. I don't like seeing wounded game. My favorite rifle and round for deer has become the 7mm 08 for that reason. It's got ballistics similar to .270, but recoil like a .243. It's a great rifle.
Born and raised in CA I can confirm that we definitely have ticks!!! Most are in the legislature so if you avoid Sacramento you should be better off but yeah plenty of ticks. And a bunch of other scary stuff.
I Jove the mighty little 243👍💯 over here everyone reckons it’s the most overrated cartridge in the world😳 I’ve taken every thing here, rabbits, dingos, kangaroo, axis deer, donkeys, brumbies, red deer, camels, scrub bulls, banteng, and water buffalos all with the 243, out to 270 yards it just works🤗😉🐊🇦🇺
@@lovethehuntOutdoors Banteng Sir are a seperate species of cattle introduced to the Northern Territory of Australia around 170 years ago to supply meat & milk to the settlers; from there they thrived becoming a wild free ranging beast The brumby is a horse - also introduced to Australia in early settlement times, whereupon after accessing the free side of fencing wire; they adapted & thrived in the Australian conditions and increased greatly in number to the point for many years they’ve been considered a feral horse/animal in need of effective wildlife management techniques including culling
I thought they were a wild horse I've heard the term before but only once or twice. Thanks for the explanation mate. We appreciate it. The Winchester 243 is a great round and it's available. The 25-06 is another great round if you can find ammo for it.
Even tho I use many brands of boo lots but the Rem boo lots will always be welcomed tru my bing bangs. Thanks again WTW, for great pew pew community. 🎥💪🏽💯👍🙏🏻
Love the 243! I would love to see a comparison of copper bullets vs lead core bullets in ballistics gel. I know you’re a busy guy but if you need an idea for a video I know I would enjoy watching it! Thanks for all of the awesome content!
.243 WIN is a great all round cartridge not much it won't do,alot of factory guns are a 1in10 twist barrel which limit's you to about a 90 grain bullet for longer ranges 200+ meters,I have a .243 with a 1in9 twist and shot matches with it out to 500 meters with a 100 grain bullet hand loads, and it's amazing out to that distance, the draw back is very short barrel life and the faster the load the shorter it will be around 3300fps you may only get 1300 rounds out of it,
Who-tee-Who the AccutipV is a Varmint round that's why they have a prairie dog and coyote on the box. The V is for Varmint. They are designed to basically explode on impact. It's not a good bullet for deer hunting if you're shooting broadside into the heart and lung area it won't hold together to leave a exit wound for tracking if needed when the animal does not expire right away. I know you will be taking head or neck shots yourself, but others may not know that, and get the wrong idea about the type of bullet it is. Just Sayin', don't mean to be harping too bad but that's not what they are designed to be for sure.
My favorite varmint cartridge! I use a 70 grain Varmengedon at 3400 fps to make coyotes see roadrunners in coyote heaven. Of course my friend used his to kill a pronghorn with a 95 grain Nosler Ballistic tip. Great cartridge. EDIT: Are you measuring your groups from the outside of each hole or the middle of each hole?
WTW Always love me some .243 videos. Just a FYI to all the Cali peeps we have a ton of ticks her in TEXAS and record breaking heat. Try Canada eh 🇨🇦. Stop driving up my property taxes.
The reason these are dedicated as varmint rounds is because they have thinner jackets compared to deer rounds. These will fragment upon impacts where as deer bullets have thicker jackets and tend not to fragment as easily as these
Some places have some small ass dear. I live in Northern California and one buck that I got here was 117lbs on the hook at the butcher shop. That’s no head, hide, lower legs, and fully dressed. With it just field dressed, it was still probably 250lbs and I could hardly load it in my truck. It probably was a 300lbs buck.
Sorry I missed you guys! Late! 243 is an awesome round. I've taken many deer and even a problem groudhog lol. I took a 8 point that was 230lb, just a giant when I was 17 here in pa. Big corn fed farm deer. See yall tomorrow 🤪
Is the barrel on the Savage Crowned? I cleaned up trigger in .308 Savage and got the pull down to 4lbs range from nearly 7lbs, M Carbo sells the kit and even gave me Mil discount. I think I'm gonna crown this barrel if dialing down that trigger and better scope don't bring it into inch
... my Rossi "Pomba" break open single shot in 243 Win won't stabilize 100 grain bullets and I get lousy groups (more like shotgun patterns) with them ... I've tried several brands ... the bullets land all over the place ... I do however get consistent 1/2 - 3/4" 3-shot groups @ 100 yds with the Remington "High Performance Rifle" 80 grain PSPs ... so that'll be my deer ammo ...I know the heavier bullets are better for deer but not if you can't get them to hit on target
Savage rifles have an adjustable trigger. You can set it as low as it will let you or just a little heavy. Take off the stock and right in the back of the trigger there is a screw to adjust the trigger. I have four Savage rifles and they work very well for me.
yes, some of the Savage Axis rifles do have the adjustable trigger, but not all of them. they make a standard Axis and an Axis 2. the Axis 2 has the Savage accu-trigger which is the adjustable one
Amen to the M*Carbo trigger kit, best $20 and 15 minute installation you can spend 😎😎😎…also their glue instock-stiffing kit is also a fantastic purchase 👍👍👍 I prefer it to the AccuTriggers on the Axis…I couldn’t believe the difference it made from the stock non adjustable trigger!
I own several Savage rifles and those things shoot. Traded the triggers out on the 2 axis models. Put them in wood stocks, pillar and glass bed and they will shoot. My old 112J target and the 111 heavy varmint rifle shot great until the barrels went south after 800 to a 1000 or so rounds. Bought new take offs and set the head space and back at under a half MOA all day.
U notice the savage axis “cock on open” bolt is hard to use compared to other actions? Hard to open for my pops and had to welt up, polish and coat a longer bolt handle
You got that right. I just moved back home to South Mississippi after being in Western Colorado for 12 years. It's not bad out in Grand Junction but, the big cities ruined the whole state
I'm such a fan of fast 22 calibers like 223 I take everything in my state with including pretty big deer, 22-250 is amazing as well except the fact that the twist rates make it where you can only shoot 55 grain, which I am not afraid to use on deer as long as it's soft point and not vmax, so people i know step up to a 30.06 for white tails within 200 yards and I believe they would be better served if these ammo companies would make more bullets available like 243 75 or 80 grain deer extreme point, vmax is my favorite of all time but for deer expands too rapidly, I use my 223 55 grain vmax for coyotes and 64 grain extreme or soft points for deer and it works excellent within 150 yards, i.m.o faster lighter bullets perform better on deer and varmints rather there's an exit wound or not, I would love to have a 243 using 75 grain or 87 grain vmax but seems like the only deer ammo they make is 100 grain i am not concerned about an exit wound but for deer 75, 80 grain soft points would be perfect the problem is I've never seen such ammo in stores in the 3 yrs I've been buying guns, if they would produce more ammo it would be worth buying a separate barrel for your 22-250 that would allow you to shoot the 64 grain deer xp and that would be perfect as well
Putting this ammo to the test through several different bing bangs and also throwing some over the chronograph!!!

What exactly is a brumbie and a banteng?
@@lovethehuntOutdoors Banteng Sir are a seperate species of cattle introduced to the Northern Territory of Australia around 170 years ago to supply meat & milk to the settlers; from there they thrived becoming a wild free ranging beast
The brumby is a horse - also introduced to Australia in early settlement times, whereupon after accessing the free side of fencing wire; they adapted & thrived in the Australian conditions and increased greatly in number to the point for many years they’ve been considered a feral horse/animal in need of effective wildlife management techniques including culling
I thought they were a wild horse I've heard the term before but only once or twice. Thanks for the explanation mate. We appreciate it. The Winchester 243 is a great round and it's available. The 25-06 is another great round if you can find ammo for it.
Pretty impressive accuracy from both guns. The Weatherby shoots as good as it looks, the Savage holds its own just fine.
Even tho I use many brands of boo lots but the Rem boo lots will always be welcomed tru my bing bangs. Thanks again WTW, for great pew pew community. 🎥💪🏽💯👍🙏🏻
Hey Joel!
I like a 243. Nice Vanguard. Had one in 308 just like that.. one hole groups with a good bedding job, 165gr nosler btips and full of H380. Great video
Thanks for watching Don
Love the 243! I would love to see a comparison of copper bullets vs lead core bullets in ballistics gel. I know you’re a busy guy but if you need an idea for a video I know I would enjoy watching it! Thanks for all of the awesome content!
.243 WIN is a great all round cartridge not much it won't do,alot of factory guns are a 1in10 twist barrel which limit's you to about a 90 grain bullet for longer ranges 200+ meters,I have a .243 with a 1in9 twist and shot matches with it out to 500 meters with a 100 grain bullet hand loads, and it's amazing out to that distance, the draw back is very short barrel life and the faster the load the shorter it will be around 3300fps you may only get 1300 rounds out of it,
🦌🦌🦌
Great rounds on deer for neck shots and head shots. Large majority of our deer hunting is 50 yds
Awesome video! Love the 243.
Thanks for watching Tim
My favorite varmint cartridge! I use a 70 grain Varmengedon at 3400 fps to make coyotes see roadrunners in coyote heaven. Of course my friend used his to kill a pronghorn with a 95 grain Nosler Ballistic tip. Great cartridge.
EDIT: Are you measuring your groups from the outside of each hole or the middle of each hole?
Middle - or outside of one to inside of the other more accurate
Nice rifles . Excellent results .
Thanks for watching Phillip
Both rifles shot good groups with that ammo.
Love it
These groups were awesome with a cheap savage 9x scope and factory boolats, nice one who T
Thanks Rob
Listerine works for ticks.
Never heard that one
WTW Always love me some .243 videos. Just a FYI to all the Cali peeps we have a ton of ticks her in TEXAS and record breaking heat. Try Canada eh 🇨🇦. Stop driving up my property taxes.
243 is a great caliber. Awesome video
Thanks for watching!
Wow your deer are small. In Maine we grow them thick. Shot a spike once with my 243. 135 lbs dressed. Year and half old deer.
Holy smokes
Oh I meant to say you can get a M-Carbo pro spring kit for the axis for about $20 and drop the trigger down to right at 2 pounds.
👍👍
The reason these are dedicated as varmint rounds is because they have thinner jackets compared to deer rounds. These will fragment upon impacts where as deer bullets have thicker jackets and tend not to fragment as easily as these
Some places have some small ass dear. I live in Northern California and one buck that I got here was 117lbs on the hook at the butcher shop. That’s no head, hide, lower legs, and fully dressed. With it just field dressed, it was still probably 250lbs and I could hardly load it in my truck. It probably was a 300lbs buck.
Thank you… l enjoy your videos.
Love these!
Thanks for watching!
My .243 really likes 97 grain browning bxr. NEF handi rifle.
Sorry I missed you guys! Late! 243 is an awesome round. I've taken many deer and even a problem groudhog lol. I took a 8 point that was 230lb, just a giant when I was 17 here in pa. Big corn fed farm deer. See yall tomorrow 🤪
Waikirimoane or something. Type it in and watch their videos and then see the magic of the 55 grain bullets in 243.
Thanks for the video. Good shooting.
Thanks for watching Dwayne
The savage rifles trigger should have an adjustment on it that will sweeten the pull greatly.
Great video buddy and yes the heat made the difference in second groups thanks for the videos 👍
Thanks for watching Carl
I don’t like to miss your videos buddy 👍
Nice grouping with that stuff. 👍👍
👍👍
I've always used 222rem and 243win for my barren ground caribou hunting in morthern canada. Always drops them with 1 shot
nice shooting
Thanks Bob
Is the barrel on the Savage Crowned? I cleaned up trigger in .308 Savage and got the pull down to 4lbs range from nearly 7lbs, M Carbo sells the kit and even gave me Mil discount. I think I'm gonna crown this barrel if dialing down that trigger and better scope don't bring it into inch
good video. enjoyed it. Also enjoyed our family vacation in Sevier County. Love Tennessee
That is a good area to vacation
Throw an mcarbo spring kit in the axis. Makes it much better.
👍👍
... my Rossi "Pomba" break open single shot in 243 Win won't stabilize 100 grain bullets and I get lousy groups (more like shotgun patterns) with them ...
The regular Savage Axis doesn't have a adjustable trigger and they are very heavy pull but the Axis 2 model is adjustable.
yes, some of the Savage Axis rifles do have the adjustable trigger, but not all of them. they make a standard Axis and an Axis 2. the Axis 2 has the Savage accu-trigger which is the adjustable one
Nice job wtw 👍👍
Thanks Lance!
Woodchuck beware.
I've used the regular accutip ammo and that's good stuff. Guessing this version just has a little extra boogy?
Marketed as a varmint round with some boogie
How about including the twist rate of each rifle you test. That's pretty important information to pass on.
Who-ee! I love Weatherbys!
😍😍😍
Excellent. This stuff is begging for a water jug test and/or a clay block. Thank you. Well done.
Might disintegrate
Get the MCarbo trigger spring for that Axis, makes a difference
Beat me to it. My .308 is a totally different gun!
This bullet exploded on a whitetail doe shot behind shoulder blade , it did pass through and ran 75 yards
You might be ok with the bullet weight but I think this bullet would be to fragile for Whitetails! I could be wrong though! Great Video
Need to head a few hours my direction Kentucky we got some nice deer
🦌🦌🦌
I literally just bought a box of this a few hours ago, for my daughter to shoot out of a Savage .243
Awesome!
Better they move to Tennessee then Colorado
You got that right. I just moved back home to South Mississippi after being in Western Colorado for 12 years. It's not bad out in Grand Junction but, the big cities ruined the whole state
@@luketilley9137 you are right and they think they own everything in the metro area
It's a Weatherby with its noodle barrel . WE call them three shot rifles
👍👍
Who-tee take it out of the lead sled and try a group I bet it tightens up
Another Awesome Video Who Tee Who..👍🇺🇸👍🇺🇸
🙏🙏🙏
That Vanguard sure is purdy.
😍😍😍
would this ammunition work with my ruger 243
Yes
Fantastic groups. Weatherby and Savage with quality ammo!!!!! Thanjs WTW
Hey randy!
“There’s a Tick On My Scope” would make a great Country song 😅😆😂🤣
Lmao definitely don’t move here
👍👍
You should try underwood’s 90gr .243 round they have!
I boycott them. They blocked me on Instagram
That is a beautiful Pew Pew. WTW!!!!
💪💪
