Once you start modding, you are better of selling private. Dealers want stock cars. They will take your modded car but shortchange the life out of you.
@srtdad me working with the auctions and dealerships. They aren't, especially carmax. The ppl that owned circuit city run that place... no matter how nice or clean it is. The age is gonna prevent them from putting it on their lot. They will ship it to a auction to recover their money and a another car lot that want to sell it, will buy it to resell
@@srtdadno. They won’t. I promise you 1,000,000% they won’t. You might be emotionally connected to the car but it doesn’t make it any more valuable just cause you think it is

First video of yours I've watched. Awesome car sounds great. Yeah carmax has to Wholesale that my buddy used to do appraisals for them and he had a molded mustang and he couldn't even buy it the car was going straight to auction
I didn’t comment what I thought before watching but I figured they’d offer at least what you paid for it. As a certified CarGurus window shopper, i see srt8s going for $17-25k often
Just made me feel good that my 6.1 challenger cammed out can sell for $20k and I just had to rebuild the motor 3-4 months ago. I paid a total of $7k for it before it broke. Long story short motor locked up and I painted it bed liner black and insurance company went to the dealership twice to find it and couldn’t cause they were looking for black with red striped. So they put it ass ima keep the broke car and dropped my credit.. but credit back up higher than it was before, only had to pay $960 to get the car from dealership and back to my house and a total of $5k to rebuild it myself.. so tbh if you really add all that up I paid about $12-13,500 for it. Feels good to be back driving with no payments 🙏🏾
Yeah the remark about reckless driving with your kid was uncalled for. Take that $10k they offered you. Add $15k on top for sale. You’ll definitely get back what you paid for it. Sell for $25k someone’s gonna “low ball” you and you’ll get your $20k back 😂
I will say being someone who works at a Carmax the cars they buy in they not going to give you the money you want. Even buying a car that has low miles they arent going to give you much money. Also age of the car makes a big difference in that. All cars that go wholesale wont be put at a carmax where anyone can buy. They go to a auction site and they get bid on there. Ive seen many older srt8s ranging from the jeeps, magnums, charger, and challengers go for 7 to 10k. We just recently has a new edge mustang with 11k miles go for $15k. But also the test drives are always by themselves. They bring it around the block just to check and make sure no weird noises or anything fishy is going on. Also mods doesnt mean youll get more money, they will more than likely give you less. But if you have any questions ill answer them to the best of my ability.
Lots of aftermarket parts, they would put it back to stock condition or sent it off to auction.. Has to go through shop assessment to determine which outcome. Carmax is generally competitive and easy to do business with
Well Carmax wouldn’t sell your car on their lot. Being that it’s modded and just the fact that it’s a SRT8 it would actually go to a wholesale lot first. Meaning only employees would have first dibs on it. If no one at the store buys it then it would go to a Carmax auction.
