Im jealous how much room this model has to work on my Audi A7 it has to go to service mode. Not enough room to clear the radiator shroud.
To those who are researching how to do this for 3.0TSFI for Audi A7 C7 chassis. I’d recommend doing the thermostat as well. The dealer replaced just the water pump and not even two days later the water pump failed again. Save your self the money and do both at the same time.

Did you test the fans first?

I bought one through auction today. At idle or very low rpm it stays normal
Temperature. When I accelerate it’s starts to over heat and when I let off the gas it starts to cool back down. Was thinking about the shaft spinning inside of the propellor. Does it seem to u like thermostat or water pump?

Sounds like a water pump issue. Shadt spinning in the pump seems like a logical thought.

How long would you estimate it took to take off and put on the waterpump? Same Q with Thermostat?. Thanks.

Hey, did you do this job on your Q7? If so, just wondering how it went for you. Have to replace the water pump on my wife’s Q7…
      Thanks

I have a 2012 Audi Q7 prestige S-line. It overheats when I drive it but gets normal when it is parked with the engine running. What do you think is the issue ? Thank you.

I would say that you either have an air pocket that is getting stuck in the system when driving or that the water pump is inefficiently moving coolant. Could have an impeller that is loose on the shaft and is spinning freely when engine speed goes up. If this issue started out of nowhere, it would most likely be the water pump, as air pockets only happen when a service is done and the system isn't bled properly.

@@MunkysGarage Thank you so much. The overheating started suddenly. The coolant level stays the same and there is no leak I see. I will change the water pump first and see if that solves the overheating issue.

I have a 2014 Audi Q7 band I smell coolant after it’s running for awhile, but it doesn’t over heat, and my check engine light has recently turn on.
    Any helpful answer for this?

I would recommend at least having the vehicle scanned to figure out what codes it has. Most auto parts stores will do this for free. As far as the coolant smell, there are a lot of things it could be, and without looking at it, it would just be a guess as to what is causing it.

Is the thermostat more difficult to replace than the water pump?

    • @MunkysGarage

Yes. Thermostat replacement requires removing the supercharger assembly to gain access to it. More than double the labor time in the labor guide book.

hi, my audi q7 2011(gas) is making constant squeaking noise coming from the engine base, noise goes away when you hit on the gas when driving and comes back on as you let your foot off the gas pedal. some said it is the belt and then same say it is pcv valve or something. can you please shed some light on it.
    thanks

Quick way to eliminate it being a belt issue would be to spray some water on the belt. If the noise changes or goes away then it is the belt itself causing the noise. If it doesn't go away then it could still be a pulley related to the belt drive. You could then remove the belt and run the engine and see if the noise is gone. If it goes away with the belt removed then it is going to be an issue with a bearing in one of the pulleys on the engine. Hopefully this helps a little bit with diagnosis.
