This is certainly one of the best tutorial videos of any device that I have seen. It is comprehensive, understandable and very informative. You have a great natural talent for explanation, Rick. Thank you.
I bookmarked this video last week so I could watch it when my camera arrived, which it did today. Thank you. Very informative. I'm going to try it out today on my bike.
Epic and professional as always Rich! Easy to understand and follow up your tips! The grid lines are great to shoot Hyperlapse allowing to center our subjects precisely
they remove the "duration" of recording in Go3. That is a very good function as sometimes you will forget to stop recording and waste battery and storage. Hope they include this function in future firmware update.
One thing I discovered by accident was the lens cover fell off when I pulled on it to release, and I thought I broke it, which with all the pulling it will inevitably go thru, seemed like a poor design, but alas, it had simply come "unscrewed". Some lens covers you press on, like for cell phone cameras, but by making it a screw on design, it is better for multi-(ab)use. I just kind of freaked when it first popped off! It isn't mentioned anywhere in anyone's videos on Go3.
The stabilisation has been moved - You select video and then tap on the bottom left of the screen to adjust the aspect ratio and resolution - the stabilisation is underneath the aspect ratio.
I think this has “moved” again ???? I received my go3 yesterday and when I select FreeFrame Video there is a “hint”: Apply FlowState Stailization and adjust aspect ration and horizon lock in post via the app or studio. This is firmware version 1.0.9 updated yesterday 7/19/2023
So if I get the explanation correctly, you can mount the camera somewhere, like chest pendant, leave it off and once you see something you wnt to film quickly press the button on the fron once or twice (however you set it up) and it will start recording. Does that include the 10-30 seconds playback also that was mentioned earlier? That would be amazing as I plan on filming things that I see when I see them, and other camera's you need to leave on in order to record
Yes this is how quick capture works, I usually set all button presses to the same mode which makes things easier and fool proof. The 10-30 sec playback is the pre record mode and this isn’t included as the camera needs to be on for that.
Sounds exactly like what I’m looking for then. The clip on system means I can secure it tightly to a shirt when running, not too sure how secure the magnetic landyard is when running through gravel😅 thanks!
Hi Rich, thank's for the very useful explanations. I ordered the Insta360 GO3 (128GB) and I would simply like to know if I can use the Quick Reader, of Insta360, that I actually use for my other Insta360 cameras. Thank you, greetings from Switzerland, Raffaello
Hey Rich! Actually you do can use the files on quick reader! Just copy the files onto a camera 01 folder Inside a SD card used on a insta360 360 camera. I've posted a quick tutorial in the forum. Cheers mate
I’ll have a video on this coming up in the next few weeks. The one thing you can adjust is EV which is the exposure value. So this isn’t manual but what it does is you can adjust how bright the auto exposure is. So if everything is always bright and overexposed you can set the ev to -1 which will make your auto exposure darker. This won’t work in every scenario but will help so just experiment.
Annoyingly they’ve moved it, must have been with the last update and I didn’t notice. So you select video and then tap on the bottom left of the screen to adjust the aspect ratio and resolution - the stabilisation is under the aspect ratio
@@EatSleep360 hi rich thank you so much for your quick reply. Thank you for resolving this. Watching all your videos now. Love the channel. Brilliant content
Hey Eat sleep 360 Rich! How did insta360 not change that stupid button on the main unit? Almost every review of the go2 i saw hated that button as much as I do because it's way too easy to accidentally start recording when you touch the camera in any way! Thanks for your great vids dude! Ride ride ride!
Hey Eric, yeah I know I still press it accidentally all the time. Im surprised they didn’t listen to any feedback - like a lot of companies when they develop a new product they don’t consult enough with people that actually use these cameras everyday. Thanks for the comment
Hello, I'm thinking about buying this camera for my family videos and for our trips. Is it good for Instagram/Facebook videos? I also have the Insta360 Ace Pro in mind, but it's more expensive and I don't know if I'll use it much. Thanks
The biggest selling point with the Go3 for everyday filming is its size ( out of the charge case). It’s so small and easy to whip out and shoot for 30 seconds and no one even notices you filming. In low light it won’t be as good as the ace pro but for general filming it’s fine and you can easily create videos in the app in vertical 9:16 for instagram or 16:9 for facebook.
Ok, Im new to this camera. I have several GOPro cameras that will adjust for horizon and position of the camera. This camera stays locked as soon as you record in either portrait or landscape mode and the video turns sideways being recorded if you rotate the camera. Is this correct? I have a lot to learn but this is a big one. I recorded the camera out of the case by setting the magmet on the oven range hood and had a regular horizontal view. The camera was in the portrait up down position yet the view was not like portrait. Then later I practiced with the camera in and out of the housing and was getting portrait setting and not the horizontal fov? very confusing.
You need to record in free frame mode and then you can position the camera in any direction and just decide afterwards whether you want it 16:9 or 9:16. Video mode is more restricted. If you record in or out the action pod in video mode and select 16:9 you need to keep the camera horizontally and if you turn it to portrait it will record in 9:16. If you select 9:16 though then you have to have the camera in portrait to record 16:9 and landscape to record 9:16 - it’s the opposite of what you think and is confusing. Free frame mode is the safest mode in this respect.
Question about Custom settings: I entered settings for all 5 customs. I accidentally did Custom 2 first. I then entered settings for Custom #1, and I redid custom settings for #2. However, in the scrolling order it shows: Custom 2, Custom 1, Custom 2-2, Custom 3, Custom 4, Custom 5. How do i delete custom 2 at the start of the list??? Or how do i delete them all and restart?
So select the plus icon as though you were going to add a preset. Now find custom 2 and now select the pencil edit icon. At the top it will say custom name and in here you can then change it back to custom 1. Do the same with the other customs that you’ve already made so they will then appear in the right order on your menu.
Compared to the ONE R the X3 is a lot better, compared to the ONE RS there isn’t much in it. I prefer the X3 and you’re less likely to get stitching errors because of the integrated thread.
The only thing I noticed was that it starts recording but doesn’t stop - whereas on the GO2 I’m sure you could set a recording limit - what problems are you having?
I have the quick capture set up as below for testing. Action Pod: Single Press : Video Double Press : Freeframe Go3: Single Press : Time Lapse Double Press : Slow Mo When I use the action pod (switched off) quick shot with the GO 3 installed or separate I get the video / freeframe as expected. BUT When I use the Go 3 (with action pod switched off) quick shot separated so I’m holding it or chest mounted I still get the video / freeframe and not the Time Lapse / Slow Mo. Is it just me ??? I have the latest firmware. I’ve put an example on UA-cam ua-cam.com/video/6CHYh8HwAKs/v-deo.html
@@drone360world5I’ve just re read your comment and now I see what’s going on - so quick capture settings are for the camera when it’s in the action pod and out of the action pod by itself with action pod turned off, there aren’t different settings for in and out the pod. This is why you are getting the same results. The GO3 button settings refer to what the camera does when it is already on and you press the button on the camera when it’s out of the action pod and the pod is turned off. Hope this makes sense - let me know on a new comment (not a reply) if I’ve understood.

I've just bought a Go3 but cannot activate it cos my Phone is an older Samsung and the app doesn't work. Is there a way around it?
For quick capture and go 3 button settings, are there options to set single press to take photos instead of a video?
Yes there are - you can set it all in the menu on the charge cradle screen
8:23 - Firmware v.1.27 has eliminated the stabilization icon. Anyone know why?
is 60gb enough?
If you have a computer or phone to move it from camera
Can you use the little camera for recording with the pod 500 or more meters away?
No it will only work around 5 metres
Life can be so simple 🤷🏼♂️
