  • If you would like to experience something, that cannot be found anywhere else in the world, then the Bay Of Fundy is the place!
    Here you will find the highest tide differential in the entire world, with the water level changing between 20-40 feet daily.
    In this video, I will show you these tides near the small town of St. Andrews By The Sea, as well as something truly unique and incredible.
    On the outskirts of town, there is an island that you can actually drive to on low tide!
    During high tide the roadway in under 25 feet of ocean water, but on low tide it reveals a gravel bed that you can drive on to access the island. it really is amazing!
    On the 500 acre island you will find the summer home and farm of Sir William Van Horne, who was in charge of the Canadian Pacific Railway, and of building the first railway across Canada in the 1880s-1890s.
    Truly a unique place that you will not find anywhere else!
    To access the island, take the 127 highway south, off of the #1 Highway (New Brunswick Route #1) and then turn northeast onto Bar Road.
    * NOTE*
    Please pay attention to the tide schedule, it is posted at the dock, as well as online. DO NOT try to drive across outside of the hours suggested!!!

      Thanks so much! It's really interesting to see. Further up the coast, the Bay of Fundy becomes very narrow, so the incoming tide picks up speed, and it creates a little tidal wave of a few feet high and people surf it!
