That looks awesome Matt! Only thing I hate about those cages is the electronics bouncing around in them. Probably the best looking micro bouncer around though!
I hear ya about the heat! Was actually thinking the heat would shut my phone down if I went out to film a run! Hate the color choices of this chassis, but love the look. Nice overview of it!
@@bcochener here’s the main ingredient. I clamp this on the controller base. Then adapt a phone holder off of that with some GoPro fittings and phone clamp amzn.to/3mMLooy
Prototypes are quick and dirty, so the welds aren't surprising. You wouldn't want to waste time and money making them Gucci. Something that small would be TIG welded in a purge tent. And has to be super clean. Would you mind getting a caliper measurement of the cage tubes(rod) diameter? I would LOVE one of those!!!
The tubes are 2mm on my calipers. I’m definitely used to getting the dirty ugly looking prototypes. Just making sure everyone else knows that’s probably not how they are being produced lol
Loved watching this lil ripper running around. Thanks for sharing! I just bought a built brushless deadbolt. It's got brass knuckles/wheel weight/weighted wheels. I was considering getting some high clearance links for it, but don't know if I should get brass ones or aluminum. Is it possible to go too heavy with these little things? This one has the lizard v1 and the surpass motor.
I kove that chassis. I just switched my buggy to the injora nylon buggy and absolutely love it. I was running the aluminum buggy ans it was awesome but too heavy. I have same set up but i run 4ws and the new 68mm super sticky tires there off rhe hook. She will bounce up anything.
Awesome rig! I could use a little advice on my setup (apparently I suck at searching) I have the Bronco hardbody with Micro Komodo 3450KV brushless motor and Lizard pro ESC. Everything else is stock. The thing is definitely still slow as crap....without getting too crazy, what can I do to get some decent speed out of this thing? Don't really want to change the trans out and prefer not having to go with a bigger motor (or too much bigger, already had to hack a bit to get the micro komodo in). Gearing suggestions? or will I really need to contemplate a trans/motor swap?
First thing I would try is get the 2/13 overdrive gears for front and rear. That should help some. If that’s not enough maybe look at swapping the pinion.
No the first thing if you want speed is simply slap a 3s battery in there and then you can go for the overdrive and yadda yadda. I am running an injora buggy stretched links gladiator rear dead bolt front with 4mm wide 4ws with 30% overdrive oh and the biggest pinion gear that would fit my Godzilla motor rocket man trans lizard pro all on 3s and I'll tell you right now the largest increase of all the upgrades was the 3s .Huge 68mm super sticky tires with lots of brass and metal axles however I was running the metal injora and as soon as I switched to the nylon buggy less weight and I put smallest spring it was awesome. You will snap dog bones every run if not careful. Set end points very narrow. I am gonna try the new cvc axles shaft then I really want to dump the worm gear for some fcx24 axles or something like that. My rig is a MF Beast and will do flips pop wheelies and climb anything but all that torque and speed breaks something every run. Also if you get metal parts use lock tight with that speed you'll lose bolts often. Party on my 24er gang!
Hey Matt, That things is awsome i wanna build something similar but do you know if the Furitek Godzilla Motor and Rocketman Transmission with work on an Ugly AG Chassis as i remember hearing somewhere that you may have issues fitting bushless into the Chassis? Or is that for the original wider Komodo where you would have issues? Cheers!
I really want to use this chasis in my first build, but I have the Komodo on the way, so it wouldn't really be a bouncer. Is there a way to raise the CG a bit to make this more of a crawler?
Honestly if I was building one now I would go with the Furitek Hiroyama for a bouncer. It’s based off a build I did with this truck but using fcx24 axles which runs so much better. It comes artr so the hard part of sorting parts and building is over lol. It also has the new mini Rocketman. I have a video on it as well. Definitely worth checking out. I highly recommend the scx24 transmission with fcx24 axles though. You don’t get the resistance you have with the worm gears of the scx24 axles so it runs much better.
@@2fmrc I wondered. Is there anything you would add/change with that kit? Keep both shocks? Something lower and more bouncer than crawler…. Not wanting a monster truck feel.
@@clint_thayer it’s pretty good like it is. You could always do some oil shocks and it would probably be even better. Tire choice changes up a lot of the feel on these small bouncers I think also.
What foams were you running? I v-notched the foams in the 62’s and it helped them a lot. Still would pro’ly make a bouncer bounce too much, but they crawl pretty darn well when I’ve taken it out, especially on the gladiator. Thanks for a great video, Matt! Great to see your face!
Actually just the stock foams the way they came. I may try cutting them also. Or run a smaller foam. Just a little firm and I even have them vented. The face is what happened to the camera. Broke it! 😆
@@2fmrc Aaahahaha! The foams are really firm. I’d like to see how they did with a softer/smaller foam or some slime balls or something. I know I put the NHX brass wheels and between the weight/being so narrow, the lugs just folded over and lost grip, crawling anyway. Btw, rim width is something I just started thinking about and how that effects these tires. Now I have to go back and try a few with the ddp’s I have coming in.
@@2fmrc This is the first time I didn’t run the stock foams and I regret it. Still doing good but the cut foams were trash and the ones I’m running are a little too soft/small. Grip nice and take bumps super smooth but sacrificed stability and incline due to grip flip. Dangit! Thanks! Hope you have a great night.
😆 I rarely ever use music but some of the audio was lost on this one so I hated to just have nothing. Then I’d have people complaining about dead silence. Can’t win but I try 🤷🏻♂️ No matter what someone will always complain. I just keep moving!
I hope you used bug repellent.. see all this mosquitoes flying. Nice video cute Little Rock bouncer. Hobby wing 1/18 esc and brushless Hobby wing motor with furytek motor mount would be cheaper option?
Yeah I definitely always spray before heading down there lol. That would definitely be a cheaper option. Or even one of the cheapo systems I’m running in my monster truck would work well I’d say. It’s not quite as smooth.
Definitely go with powder coating. It gives it a much more "realistic" look. I did mine just for the video but glad I did😅.
Really cool seeing it being driven like a bouncer rather then a crawler.
That looks awesome Matt! Only thing I hate about those cages is the electronics bouncing around in them. Probably the best looking micro bouncer around though!

What length of links did you use for your build? This looks so much fun.
What pinion are you using with the Godzilla??
I believe it’s a 12t
Need one of these! What chassis did you use as a base for your build?
Started with Scx24 parts and the Furitek Olympus cage. It now has the fcx24 axles which run much quicker that they Scx24 axles with worm gears.
What did you use for the floor pan? I'm trying to use the treal skid plate and it's not working
