Fun fact - "Both parts were originally shot as a single film measuring a total of 319 minutes and screened at the 2012 Cannes Directors' Fortnight[10][11][12][13] but since no Indian theatre would volunteer to screen a five plus hour film, it was divided into two parts (160 minutes and 159 minutes respectively) for the Indian market". The place Wasseypur is still there and it's just 2 hours from my home 😁😂

Gangs of Wasseypur is a must watch.. it's a saga earlier shot in one piece. But due to match Indian Audience, they cut the movie into two piece. It looks as natural as if someone kept a secret camera in that bloody village. The violence is still active in that district. People still living that barbaric life.
You got the trailer right. Anurag is almost Scorcese's pupil. Anurag shows every one of his films to Scorcese before releasing, including this one. There are many interviews of Anurag in which he has shared this fact. And to answer if you should watch this, Scorcese himself compared it to The Godfather and said it's as good as Godfather if not better.
India has badlands, When I was a kid in the 80's you had to sign at a police check point that you were taking responsibility for your life before driving through. We traveled in conveys with guns. Those badlands still exist. Mostly in UP and Bihar.
Its a story about revenge across 3 generations. And the vengeful mind creates gangs in this small town and it's not just about killing, it's a story about bringing your opponent to the ground rubbing his nose on the ground and then he has the permission to die. (Get it?? I took the dialogue from Batman Rises)

Gangs of Wasseypur is a must watch.. it's a saga earlier shot in one piece. But due to match Indian Audience, they cut the movie into two piece.
It looks as natural as if someone kept a secret camera in that bloody village.
The violence is still active in that district. People still living that barbaric life.
You got the trailer right. Anurag is almost Scorcese's pupil. Anurag shows every one of his films to Scorcese before releasing, including this one. There are many interviews of Anurag in which he has shared this fact.
And to answer if you should watch this, Scorcese himself compared it to The Godfather and said it's as good as Godfather if not better.
Gangs of wasseypur is the most badass movie in the world
India has badlands, When I was a kid in the 80's you had to sign at a police check point that you were taking responsibility for your life before driving through. We traveled in conveys with guns. Those badlands still exist. Mostly in UP and Bihar.
Its a story about revenge across 3 generations. And the vengeful mind creates gangs in this small town and it's not just about killing, it's a story about bringing your opponent to the ground rubbing his nose on the ground and then he has the permission to die. (Get it?? I took the dialogue from Batman Rises)
Just watch, guys. You will not be disappointed!!!!

One of the best directors and One of the best actors in acting, Manoj, has again done great. I would want you to watch it, but, if you dont have a context on the local behavior and language, it would not give you that feel.... This movie is inspired on true events. But, a heavily localized movie..
