Fresh off the news of Stephen Hillenburg's passing, the Nick execs decided it was time to tarnish the sole brand keeping them afloat by producing this! The better part with david hasselhoff as compared to this one, is that they still treated it as a joke, like, a celebrity randomly appearing at the end of the movie is the funny part, but here, the celebrities are actual ""plot"" points
Weird. Kinda felt like the opposite to me. Felt like in the 1st one his appearance made sense to the plot, meanwhile the 3rd made it look like it was the joke. That's why I thought the 1st movie has a better celebrity appearance

By far the part that grinds my gears the most is how they have the "in memory of Stephen Hillenburg" text right at the end, and then they immediately go on to massacre the spongebob theme with lyrics.
I can't describe to you how livid I got when they used the spongebob jingle to segway straight into such a fucking abysmal modern remake of a song.

@@jordancooper1592 Supposedly he knew about Kamp Koral and was up for ideas about it. But his passing happened. It's true Hillenburg was against spin-offs (more like The Patrick Star Show) but people should look more into the Kamp Koral origin more instead being clueless fans.

@@jdawson7877 Well from what I got from another review on this mess, they basically copied the plot from Where's Gary and added tweaks to extend it to film length. So you're not wrong on the "special" aspect of it since they basically recycled a story from a special and regurgitated it more than a decade later with less heart

Out of all the 3 films, this one was definitely the weakest one. It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t good either. It just felt like a advertisement for Kamp Koral rather than telling an interesting story. I do love the style but I’m personally hoping they go back to the traditional style for the next film and have a better idea for the next film as well
Honestly the 3 one is better than 2 cause 2 is Honestly so generic and boring the villain is mid the movie felt way too short and they should have added more characters other than the main characters sandy should have been used more

@@whydouexist3487 SpongeBob and Patrick accidentally killing the leader by opening the curtains multiple times is the only time I laughed during the entire movie. 3 has amazing animation and the musical number at the end of the movie is also great but that’s all it has. 2 is not perfect by any means but the reason I think it’s better is because it feels like its actually trying. It’s trying to make the story interesting and it’s trying to make the jokes funny. That’s why I like it way more than 3
There is something inherently wrong about hearing a reference to Skype and FaceTime in a SpongeBob movie. Same goes for the music choice to a degree. You look at the first two SpongeBob movies and they got on a bunch of indie artists and ALT rock bands to do the songs, but this time it's all mainstream artists from what I've seen.
They had a guy named Mike Simpson sing Goofy Goober Rock as a Twisted Sister I Wanna Rock parody but for the mid 2000s, spongebobs first film didnt lean into the 2000s really.

Also, you're taking his 4 criteria for the show, which his statements are over a _decade_ old at this point, as gospel when people's opinions change over time. Hell he was almost certainly aware of the existence of Camp Koral before his death. Be mad that Nick/Paramount is milking Spongebob and copyrighting fan projects. But being angry on behalf of someone because of an opinion they barely expressed years ago just makes it look like you want to be angry.

@@therainbowmarioman8461 delaying isn't always a good sign. take fnaf sb for example: the game was delayed a bunch over a period of two years and when it finally came out it ended up as a buggy mess that also made the fnaf lore even more confusing. now I get that fnaf sb is a game and not a movie, but still, delaying something is not always a good sign. and the mario movie is being made by the people who made the minions, so I have little to no hope for the mario movie.

This movie is basically the equivalent of a history essay with a good introductory paragraph. It has an idea of what it wants to do, but realizes it wouldn’t be enough to meet the length requirement, so it decides to add a bunch of random filler to pad out the length
Actually Only Sandy's, Squidward's, Mr. Krabs' backstory with Spongebob at Camp Koral were the only retconed (Patrick's backstory of how he meet Spongebob at Camp Koral could be believable) but even then, the show retcons Mr. Krabs' Backstory where in the film, he was the Camp Cook and in the show, the head of the Camp. Let that sink in.
no patrick's is a retcon to in episode secret box it was shown that spongebob and patrick have been friends since babies.

on top of everything else this movie completely forgets it’s underwater and it’s been bothering me in every scene non stop after i noticed it. for them to be on the sea floor it looks so…dry. even more when sage was added. i thought sandy’s fur detail was nice but then i realized it doesn’t interact anyway different with all the liquid around it than how when it’s dry (in her dome or fish bowl vs when it’s out. it’s really noticeable in the beginning when she’s pitching the robot idea to mr krabs. i realized it doesn’t stop there. nothing in this movie really looks wet. bubbles are added here and there but they really could have played with the physics of water getting in the way of everything. i know the animated series does this too, but in the older seasons they would at least acknowledge it, or use it often while keeping elements that aren’t scientifically accurate without it being (noticeably) contradictory. it’s like how in the show with the coyote and the roadrunner he’d run off a clif and then realize he was standing in air
Hey Dazz, you should do a video on The Terrible "Ice Age: Collision Course". And also "The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild" (the newest one). In my opinion, the first movie is always the best. "The Meltdown" and "Dawn of the Dinosaurs" both have some flaws but are still good movies. "Continental Drift" is a shipwreck, it marks the beginning of the end of the franchise. "Collision Course" and the new Buck Wild movie (the worst ones) have melted the franchise since.

The fact that the Camp spinoff confirmed that this takes place in an alternate universe makes me like the movie a bit more than I did the first time I seen it.
Even though the movie is terrible,but the movie is a special for the Indonesian Dub, cuz' the movie felt like a Reunion to the previous VA of Spongebob around season 1-3 (except for Plankton VA which is still voice the character till these day). The series has been recast like 3-4 Times and it's nice they hired the original VA for a one last ride.

This movie had some moments where I’m just like, “WTF am I watching,” especially the part with the Zombie ghosts. The movie wasn’t good, but at the same time it wasn’t that bad either. There were some nice references from the show and there were some new jokes that were also funny to me. Not to mention that the animation was a nice touch too as it gave me “The Peanuts Movie” vibes.
While I understand little kids might like this movie, the people who grew up watching the show when it first aired might have mixed feelings about this. To be fair, SpongeBob never really had an official Story Arc and every episode has a different story to it, but it would’ve been more interesting if they’d at least kept the original story of when SpongeBob and Sandy first met or when SpongeBob started working at the Krusty Krab.
In the end, I give this movie a 4/10. This is one of those movies where I watch it once and then never again because it just doesn’t look that good to me. I’d rather stick with the first SpongeBob movie because that one is still a God Tier movie.
Why do animated films still insist on shoehorning random celeb appearances and play up their included voices in the film, even if they can't do more than one voice as opposed to professional voice actors? Celeb references and pop-culture jokes just date a film horribly and really take you out of the moment.
To be fair the 2nd movie had a cool story and nice concept. And for being part of the modern spongebob, the jokes were actually funny. The 3d portion of the movie ruined the reputation.
This SpongeBob movie 3 sucks. They need to stop making these, and let the SpongeBob series die in peace

At the end of the movie, I was convinced that the final song was actually a leak from the screenwriter's room where the Paramount executives sang about how Spongebob is the secret formula to their success.
They had the audacity to destroy Stephen’s dreams about the perfect franchise and then say, “in memory”.

Actually there is a reason that sandy is in camp coral, because she is made by sandy to make sure the timeline dosen't collapse

The movie had such great animation, but the recycled plots and the character decay of SpongeBob himself made the film nosedive so hard that it dug a hole to The Kingdom Of Oriana from Felix The Cat The Movie!
This movie completely disregards the SpongeBob lore it's pisses me how they do it too. They stop the pacing of the movie to keep talking about camp coral which is something the show actually forgets instantly

I didn't dislike the movie. Yeah, the second act was horrible (except for Livin Da Vida Loca) and Kamp Koral was shoehorned in and was a bad idea to begin with, but some jokes weren't half bad (like Spongebob and Patrick "speedrunning" the cliche, hated how they still did it at the beginning of the 3rd act), the animations was great, some of the other new stuff ranged from decent to good and...

11:20 - 11:36: In their defense, SpongeBob did mention in "Tea at the Treedome" that SpongeBob has seen a Land Squirrel before. Don't know why, but whatever works in their favor to not go completely out of character... it does not, however, excuse what they actually did in Camp Koral, by making an episode destroy the Krabby Patty secret formula, and not only treating "Friend or Foe" as non-canon, but also treating this movie's origin of the Krusty Krab as non-canon as well!

The only joke that cracked me up the whole movie was when Patrick left the cell and went into the other one
It’s annoying how The spongebob show has become disconnected to the spongebob films and expanded universe. Neptune’s mythology was expanded in modern episodes with the Greek gods folded into Neptune’s family tree, making this new Atlantis a contradiction of both classic and modern spongebob. the Pound and the Pets of Bikini bottom were expanded in later episodes, therefore Camp coral is also contradicting both eras. It’s saddening how modern spongebob relies on episode nostalgia yet ignores continuity!
The show never focused on continuity. Even in the earlier seasons, ex. Patrick saying he doesn’t have a sister in Something Smells, Jim not being present in the Truth or Square flashback, King Neptune and Perch Perkins’s designs in the movie compared to the show, etc.
Also, Kamp Koral had an episode explaining how Sandy is there.
Continuity is never the strong point of SpongeBob.

I personally have the belief that all of SpongeBob with Greek mythology is part of a separate universe from the original continuity.
I may be in denial but to me Hillenburg's SpongeBob is the end of the SpongeBob we know and love and this new/alternate reality SpongeBob is and will forever be inferior to the original.
personally I agree since there was that one bit in the old show where a gust of wind takes something a guy had and he says "Poseidon no!" and the femal fish next to him says, "everyone knows it's neptune" or something like that

Its sad that even tho I already watched this movie twice (because of my young sister) throughout the first half of the episode I was like "I don't remember watching this did they make a 4th film and I just didn't notice. Stephen Hillenburg never claimed he was against the idea of a sequel or spinoff, he claimed that he didn't see the concept of one coming any time soon. I'm pretty sure that with Stephen Hillenburg working at nickelodeon for the last few years of his life that he had some form of participation or knowing about the spongebob sequels. People are using the words of a dead man and twisting them to say their opinions which is honestly disgusting. I personally don't care about the spin-offs, but with the way both sides are talking about Stephen leaves a horrible taste in my mouth.
The fanbase has been increasingly toxic over the years, especially since 2005. I still don’t buy that the first 3 seasons are perfection; they aren’t. Many flaws in regards to Patrick and Squidward’s personalities exist and they’re often overlooked because nostalgia always gets in the way.

Let’s be honest, the only good thing about this movie is the animation, it’s really spot on and the artists did a good job replicating the SpongeBob Style in 3D.

The original 2004 movie will always be superior to the sequels! Sponge Out Of Water was a flawless sequel, but at least still superior to this new sh** sequel to such a great franchise and a dishonor to Stephen Hillenburg’s grave. :’(
The only terrible thing Spongebob: Sponge out of water had was a bad movie tie in video games. At least, at first, Sponge on the Run had the Battle for Bikini Bottom remake to back it up.

When I watched this film back when it came out, the overall vibe I got from it was, "If Illumination Entertainment made a SpongeBob movie". I will say though, one of the best things to come from it was Kenny G's cover of "Gary Come Home" that played during the credits.
The best thing about this video is the Mr. Krabs is swearing gag.

Why not have king poseidon think gary is his long lost pet that he lost as a merchild but not knowing his pet actually passed away, then grows up an seeks money since it can never leave him. When he sees Gary, he takes him thinking it was his pet. like a story of 'loosing a love one is hard including loosing a beloved pet, but money won't fill the heart when it craves for love an friendship, others can help you heal an its okay to grief.' perhaps gary is the son of his beloved pet but found his way to spongebob.

I love how when they added the movie on Nickelodeon, they censored out the scene where SpongeBob says the word “crap”. They added it on purpose in the movie just to attract an “older audience”. It’s so unnecessary.😑
The 2004 SpongeBob movie and SpongeBob out of water (2015) were both insanely good it really sucks that this one wasn’t good

One thing about Sponge on the Run (2020) that I found that most laughable is that Sandy, Patrick, Squidward, and Mr. Krabs all defend Spongebob about why Posideon shouldn't execute him and they all say that he's a great guy and how much they love him, yet they all had their moments in the past where they hate SpongeBob, take advantage of him, torment him, treat him like the opposite of a best friend, or even attempt to kill him, especially with the fact that Squidward always says that he can't stand SpongeBob, to the point that he not only tried to kill him and torment him, but he even said that his life was way better before SpongeBob moved into his neighborhood.

The movie was a mess. But a good mess when you see SpongeBob in the picture. I did enjoy some moments, but when snoop dog, Keanu reeves, and Tiffany haddish showed up I’m just like “Wth is this movie” and I’m just dying of laughter of how ridiculous the plot is. It’s an embarrassment of a third SpongeBob movie but it does it’s job as a SpongeBob movie. 4/10 fun to watch

The only Kamp Koral flashback that *WASN'T* a retcon was the one with Mr. Krabs. Before this movie came out, we never really knew how SpongeBob and Mr. Krabs met. They already knew eachother in Help Wanted.

Honestly Steven wasn’t 100% opposed to spin offs later on but he did say that he wanted to be careful to make a any possible spin offs just as good as the main show.

i'm not that big of a fan of the 2nd and 3rd spongebob movie i don't outright hate them but i don't love them nowhere near as much as the 1st film the 1st film had a this more slightly serious tone and a more grander feel to it which i felt the 2nd and 3rd film was lacking though maybe the 1st film was made like that since it was originally intended to be the series finale.
also the retcons in the 3rd movie really rub me the wrong way i know the show never had good continuity but most of error are minor ones that you wouldn't think about at first but this movie is going too far with the continuity errors there retconning how the characters met just so they can advertised some dumb spin off nobody asked for.
If Stephen was looking down up in the clouds he would be really disappointed also why did this make me laugh 6:08 the impression for mr. K just sounds really meme like and the impression dose not go with the footage then he gets hit into a wall and loses his studs
