This is hands down my favorite UA-cam channel. Idk why there aren't more subscribers. People are really missing out. Especially those who grew up in the 80's.
I remember watching all these commercials..Missed the 80's
It's amazing how simple things such as these bumpers that we literally took for granted during their heyday can be so vividly remembered. Many memories watching these and quite a few others
My man and I were laughing at the "In the News" part. That SUCKED when we were little because we wanted to see cartoons! But the memory of that for the first time in years is priceless. Very nostalgic!!!
Was watching these and forgot it was 2013. Time slipped back to 1984.
I'm the girl in the Nestles chocolate milk commercial! :-) Technology is amazing! I've been looking for my other commercials. . .
I miss those Saturday mornings:(
Nice
is your icon kick-ass
Yeah yeah
Nothing but the great 80s
"GTFO so I can play my Atari"! LOL!!
I love reading your thoughts in the description area.
I love watching these old cartoon commercials. Nostalgia!
This was back in an era when Kool-Aid and Oreos were innocent childhood treats and not considered evil because they have *gasp* SUGAR in them!
0:35--True, although it's interesting to note that Sugar Smacks had already been rebranded as Honey Smacks by this time. (And what a great commercial for them!)
I clearly recall when and where I was when these "new crazy 3d" CBS bumpers came out. Every time I see these clips now, they're still "new" in my head. Weird feeling but relaxing nostalgic moment.
Wow I miss the 80s!
All these commercials are bring me some flashbacks.
I remember all of these, especially "In The News". I sure miss the 1980's, *sigh*.
Now I want to watch the Charlie Brown and Snoopy Show
Me too! I don't seem to remember that one, but then again I was 13 years old at the time and had started to "outgrow" these types of shows (although now as an adult I enjoy watching them again). I even remember that CBS was my "go-to" network for Saturday morning cartoons when I was a kid; mostly because they carried Looney Tunes (as the Bugs Bunny Road Runner Show) back then.
OMG, Peanut Butter Cap'n Crunch was my cereal, I ate it every day after school. I must have opened more than a dozen of those damn treasure boxes hoping I'd win that $1000 and I still remember the disappointment each time.
the teacher in the honey smacks commercial is none other than a future Iola Boylan from Mama's Family :-)
The CBS "In the News" instrument intro gives me memories to the early-mid 1980's when I was still a kid(1st time I've seen it in almost 30 years).
Unbelievable. Cap'n Crunch cereal was giving away $1,000. I miss toys in cereal.
Man I love all the Saturday morning bumps and commercials of the 90s and 80s.
These commercials make it seem like cartoon characters popping up out of nowhere was a common occurrence. It was tough being a kid in the 80s. hehe
Loved seeing those CBS Saturday morning bumpers.
Rick Dees doing to the commercial bumpers.
I love In the News, especially the intro and outro music. CBS was the best with stuff like that [case in point the 'Special' bumper from an earlier set]
I would have flipped thirty years ago if I'd known that as an adult I would enjoy watching these so much! I mean, these commercials are like Broadway musicals compared to today's commercials. so much energy and warm sentiments......
They still run these old tootsie pop commercials now every so often
Only 2 commercials per break? Cherry Blossoms are the lead story in the news? They actually tell you the chances to win a cereal sweepstakes so kids don't get their hearts broken?
I find it hard to believe the 80's happened.
"In the News" was not meant to be an actual news update, it was a two-minute segment designed for kids and preteens.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/In_the_News
80sCommercialVault I remember "In The News", started in the mid-70's lasting to the mid-80's.
Oh boy, I used to watch the Saturday Supercade every Saturday morning. Those video game bumpers sure bring back fond memories. Thanks for posting these!
Awe man! I remember that In The News sequence noise thing. Man Saturday mornings in the 80's was awesome! Thanks for posting.
I've seen all of these commercials literally hundreds of times when I was a kid in the 80's growin' up 'til I was 8 in Atlanta, GA. This is really trippin' me out. It's like I use to know all of them by heart. I was born in 1980.
Those 6 wheel trucks reminded me.of the Stomper 4x4s I used to own
Oh, I remember when Quik used to come in those metal containers! I used to fill them with milk when they were empty (or at least, when all the chocolate was out of spoon-reach), shake them up, and drink the chocolately awesomeness that resulted. It just doesn't work with a plastic container... :<
1:48--The Quik rabbit is playing the Atari 2600 version of "Space Invaders"--one of my favorites back in the day.
I actually have this on video as well and I'm glad that you posted these. I love the sound effects for the "In The News" intro/outro, love the Kool-Aid commercial, Zipp sneakers, Supercade bumpers, heck I love it all...=)
my god the 80s were so....80s...alot different then when you were a kid watching these commercials
that Honey Smacks jingle is really good. the oreo jingle is a classic, too
those are some weird-ass background sound effects for the "In the News" blurbs
i remember the Kenner toy company being the shizz back in the day
like they'd let a little kid win $1,000
that Zips commercial is epic. i think that all the zippers and straps would make them MORE complicated to get on. i loved Stride Rite as a kid, wore them all the time
LOL Zips sneakers, oh geez mom bought those for us kids back in the day!
Oh yeah! I remember that commercial. Was always one of my favorites! I had just turned 14, so I guess that makes sense. ;)
Of course, now that I'm older, I can appreciate her and her "assets" a lot more. ;)
I had pink Zips sneakers! I'd forgotten those. No wonder I didn't learn to tie my shoes for years LOL!
Duhhh. You are so right. It's amazing how most of us never really picked up on that back then. Miss all those good quality toons back then. Maybe it's cauz I'm getting old and most of the new stuff is really just for kids.
When we're younger we always overlook that stuff. I used to watch Baywatch for the action when I was 8 for crying out loud =P
2:36 I don't remember seeing anything like that on Saturday morning!! LOL
I never realized how trippy that CBS In the News music was until now.
4:28--I remember it very well! I have to agree that it's kind of trippy.
I would definitely watch an 80*s retro station :) I miss the 80*S ~ sooo much!! I hate reality TV. It's funny back then I only remember a handful of stations - but there was so much to watch. today my digital box goes up to like channel 700 - and there is not too much that I watch! xo
"Move it up, move it out. The taste is gonna move ya when you pop it in your mouth." Got to love the innuendos of the 80's.
This commercial is a turn on seeing the women popping it in their mouths.
Hahaha!! I know it, right?
Ah, the old creepy looking Hamburgler before he was revamped.
LOL! Little Urkel!
all i keep thinking about when they mention the charlie brown and snoopy show is that Fergie from the black eyed peas was the voice of sally on that
Zip Sneakers is so awesome, that I want them back (I didn't have one) so stride rite can do a remade version of them.
THAT WAS URKEL!!! Jahleel White!!! He was so cute as a little boy.
I've never understood why Charlie Brown didn't catch on on Saturday mornings. Then again, the same people who made CB&SS made Flashbeagle...
The teacher in the Honey Smacks ad looks really familiar...
Good job, Grimace! Spoil all the good you did jogging by eating a McD's breakfast!
You got to hand it to the guy in the Kool-Aid outfit for skating while wearing that.
I either had Zips or something really similar when I was a kid. I do remember liking velcro over shoelaces.
Hub TV shows some of the old shows -- G.I. Joe, Transformers, Mork and Mindy (live, not animated), Laverne and Shirley, The Facts of Life.
There's a syndication network called RTV - Retro TV, though it seems that lately it's been focusing on the 1960s. It used to show Battlestar Galactica and Buck Rogers back to back. Also Knight Rider and The A-Team. I started my retro kick on this channel. Yes, so many happy memories. *sigh*
@mndydltn1980 ??? Some snack foods have come and gone, but Double Stuf Oreos haven't changed.
back when double stuff oreos where actually double stuffed!!
I was 10 years old on this date! I had a 6X6 High Riser!
It may interest some Star Wars fans to know that when Max Rebo was first designed, he had no arms. What looked like his arms in the movie are actually his legs, and his big elephantine "ears" were just a pair of flippers. In the movie, he sits on top of his organ-like instrument on a cushion, playing the keys with his feet. That didn't translate very well to the screen, because the costume had to be redesigned so that the performer could fit into it without too much discomfort. When Kenner made the Max Rebo action figure, they mistook his legs for arms and gave him a pair of stumpy legs, and that dictated his species' look for all Star Wars media that came later.
I think the "legs as arms" design was just in the initial design maquette, which does not reflect his final movie design. The costume in the movie matches the action figure, and his arms are indeed arms attached to his torso.

If the arms were intended to be legs that *really* didn't translate to the final costume, and Lucasfilm didn't know it either since they approved the final toy. Not to say that Kenner never made mistakes with the Star Wars license (4-LOM and Zuckuss having their names swapped in the ESB line, Blue Snaggletooth etc).
@@80sCommercialVault Star Wars canon is all over the place about whether Ortolans (Rebo's species) have arms _and_ legs, or only legs with opposable digits, so there's just no broad consensus about this issue. But as Max Rebo was _originally designed,_ he does not have arms, and I think that's an interesting, off-the-wall concept.
I once owned Zips Sneakers as a kid!
You're right. But they were still playing that particular commercial up until the 90's...
@paddoww It's already noted in the video description. Might want to check those.
1:48 Interesting- the Quick Bunny is playing T.I. Invaders for the Texas Instruments 994A Computer (he's even using their famously bad joysticks), but the sound effects are from the Atari 2600 version of Space Invaders.
I get 1,000 nerd points for knowing this.
I love the Oreo jingle!
4:55--That has to be one of the most classic jingles in the history of TV advertising! They have used several versions of it over the years.
the juicy fruit commercial cost more to make than all the yearly revenues from actually selling the gum..
I love the cherry blossom trees news flash
I had no idea those star wars characters had names. 0_o lol
Thank you for a wonderful post. Please upload more. I have a bunch of ads from the mid-late 80's I need to capture.
@deadmetalbr If you were really a nerd, you'd know that the Rebo band played at Jabba's palace...not the cantina.
I said the same exact thing, even sung along with the jingle while it played. Though I remember an alternate version of the commercial, It has to have been at least 20 years since I last saw it and still I remember every word.
The design for Birdie in that McDonald's commercial sort of weirds me out. Thank God they fixed that later on.
Voice of Rick Dees for Saturday Morning commercial break
The kid on the Oreo commercial looks more like Webster
I'll give you a thousand dollars ! hahahahahahaha
How sad is it that I remember that Juicy Fruit song even though I haven't heard it in years?
My oh my, I REALLY remember that Juicy Fruit commercial. She was amazing!
2:31--One out of many great jingles from Wrigley commercials over the years.
OMG i remember Crunch Canyon.. wow what great memories!
I what some Bonkers you know the candy that Bonks you OUT :)
Quik and the Atari 2600....a great combination apparently....and with Colgate too.
Back when commercials were fun and original.
Un-sanitized Saturday Mornings for the win! Supercade was this best, and the only NEWS programming on back then was an interesting 3-minute piece on a pretty cool subject.
5:05 "Did I do that?"
He has a name and it's already listed in the description.
I believe applesomething is right. At 4:28 the kid's gotta be Jaleel White(Steve Urkel). Gotta day tho, the juicy fruit commercial really takes me back. Still know the words like yesterday.
I hate that I remember the commercials better than the shows.
Oh geez. That girl in the purple for Juicy Fruit. I was a teenager and remember those boobs well .
Hey was that Steven Q Urkel at 05:05
Please read the video descriptions
he s in an episode of jeffersons in the fall 84 season
Good ol days
man! you don't still have tapes of 'saturday supercade' do you?! man I'd love to see those!!
0:09 i noticed what the turtle was staring at
I was 2 months and 2 weeks old. lol
@pdr86
that was indeed, jaleel white. . . .
Yes, it is Beverly Archer.
I think the segue bits inbetween the shows an adverts are pretty damn cool...I remember when those sort of '3d' presumably early computer graphics used to be everywhere...I still think they look prety funky even today. Thw whole cherry tree thing seemed a bit random but then thats another thing you used to get...these little random micro bits of info of a not on the surface interesting thing that then proved to be intertesting...I think cebeebies as a channel still does stuff like that...
You smacked'em good. I am not sure if that is a advertisment for cereal or to put your wife in line
At the beginning of that McDonald’s one its sounds like your on splash mountain
Good times back then...lol
Is that Beverly Archer (Iola for Mama's Family) on the Honey Smacks commercial
+ELI NEFF Yep
I was like is that her? cause it was right before Mama's Family went into syndication
+ELI NEFF Mama's Family was my favorite tv show as a kid. I knew that was Iola Lucille Boylen the minute they showed her.
@@kendrickwoods1721 As of 2021, Me TV is rerunning that show on Sunday afternoons.
Does anyone know how long that Tootsie Roll Pop commercial was actually on the air?
I used to see it in the early-mid 80's quite often, and I could've sworn I also saw it in the late 80's-early 90's.
It first aired in 1970.
born in 84 and I grew up seeing that commercial in 90s
0:05--As of 2021, an abbreviated version of it (with the owl but not the turtle) is still airing.
I had the Sy Snootles and Rebo Band figures, I remember. My favorite was Max Rebo with his keyboards. Star Wars action figures that didn't come with weapons...a rarity.
Three dammit! THREE!
2:35, nice
OMG, i want the star wars return of the jedi play sets for x-mas!!! i miss my childhood!!
0:21 - Over 9000!
they still show #2
