Love the look of the bike and the worth while upgrades you have made.
I own a 17' and after 3 years I upgraded the front and rear suspension. Front has Cogent Dynamics DDC drop in cartridges, 10w oil and preload adjustment caps. Made a world of difference with front end feel. much smoother ride and dive when hard on the binders is much improved. I replaced the rear shock the a K-tech Razor R. Separate adjustment for rebound and compression. Adjustable preload and shock length. The bike is a riot to ride on the twisty roads and does alright on track days even with a novice like me. Subscribed!

I bought my 2004 model in Dec. 2021. All mods were made by the original owner. The second owner said that the rear shock was sourced from a GSXR 600. I added a Sargent seat and am very pleased with the added comfort. Given the mods made to the battery box, I added a lithium battery to prevent battery movement while riding. It's also smaller and fits snug under the seat. I have a little snap and crackle from my Yoshi as well. It's equipped with Power Commander 3. Perfect bike for the backroads of Tennessee. Love the looks of your bike. Happy riding!

Clean looking bike dude. I have some similar modifications done to my K4. The best/least expensive way to improve the rear end is with a ZX10r rear shock. Drops right in and makes a world of difference. R6 throttle tube makes a snappier throttle response and helps eliminate some of the twist. Cheers and keep the shiny side up!

I bought a 2003 naked like your's occasionaly and love it. For me your crash pads are of interest and the chain set. I will got to BT016pro when the tyres are down. I guess the winner of several sport tyre test's of 2011 and 2012 maybe sufficient for the SV650 k3 @least. At the moment i prefer the SV to a 1000cc Gixxer in the garage.Honestly.

Think I'm buying this bike tomorrow. Found one in Cali, a 2003 w/ only 10,000 miles on it, PERFECT condition and maintenance records. He wants $2500, hoping to get it for $2000. Would be my first street bike purchase, ever.

Matt M Whatup Matt.. Man, what a crazy day lol. Honest to God true story.. So the 2003 SV650s that I was gonna buy, I chickened out. It was beautiful tho ! I dunno, he wanted more money than what he originally said, and I wasn’t with it. He wanted $3000k, I couldn’t do it. But later in the day I went by a dealer close to me, and they had a new 2018 SV650 (non ABS) w/ an out the door cost of $6000k.. So I bought it. Impulse buy but, I really wanted an SV. Now, I would be lying if I said I wasn’t scared because it doesn’t have ABS but I am just gonna have to learn w/o it, tighten up my skills, and always ride safe. I guess it’s ok...the 2003 didn’t have ABS either.. I dunno, we’ll see. Gonna pick up the bike this week. Hell, I don’t even have my license yet lol.

I used an sv650 an it was a sweet bike for what it is. I used it for sport. Not a circle riding, but moto gymchana. The problems with front suspension and brakes can be solved with used GSXR front end($500). Stiffer springs will hurt you back and hands as it will ignore small bumps! If you want to go with stock front end just use progressive springs and w10+w15 mixed oil. Plus steel brake hoses and good brake pads. Don't count much on steel brake hoses, it won't help much. It's still no much to four piston brake calipers with resin hoses. As for the rear suspension. Go with used zx6r or zx10r shock($50-100). But, with lowering links. Which is can be easily made on any laser cutter($50). Elsewhere you will get you rear end up too high which will case oversteering.

Beautiful bike! I have a lot of bikes and love them all but I'm getting old and need something light enough I can load and unload myself because I like to travel. I bought a 2017 Duke 390 and it a fun bike to ride and it's really light so I put it on and off my trailer pretty easily but It's not a very reliable bike and sometimes I wish it was a little bigger and faster. I don't have 9k on it yet and I'm already dealing with my second major repair. First it was the crank position sensor $400 repair $200 parts $200 labor. Now I'm getting coolant in the crankcase. Hopefully it's just a water pump seal.

You still riding her or did ya get another? This is one good looking bike, I've never seen such a tail light assembly as you have
buttoned on the bottom of the tail. I want to ask you, I had looked into this bike pretty deeply back in 2016 or so but I'd found
a number of front wheel lock-ups. Several were on video where the front wheel seized up dropping the rider right away. I didn't
keep looking for the reasons but now I wonder if it's a bearing type issue that would be better off simply changing it?
Suspension & Tires are probably the two greatest mods anyone can do as the handling is everything. I've never seen
an SV quite like this one.... I hope all is well & thanks b/c if I decide to skip a dual sport, this one is hard to beat !

Nice mods to your SV, looks great. Definitely get a new shock in ASAP it makes a huge difference. If your on a budget an 05 zx10r shock works good for track use. Other rear shocks can also be used, I have also tried a 07 zx6r shock to good effect however the change in ride height can be too much for some. These shocks can also be rebuilt and modified to suit the rider. There are plenty of charts available to select a surrogate shock that can work for this bike defo give them a look loads of good info out there for this bike. If you want to spend more go with any of the big suspention brands Ohlin's, Ktech, Penskie ect they all have great offerings for the Sv650

  • @kombo731

Another way to drop some weight is to eliminate the passenger pegs and brackets. You'd need a kit for that, one that includes a lightweight bracket on the throttle side that still hangs the exhaust. A proper kit would also include a blank to cover the holes on the clutch side when you remove that bracket. I put an Evotech set up on mine and lost about 900 grams. I also have an excuse not to take passengers, and who wants to ride on the back of an SV650 anyway? BTW, I also unscrewed the peg feelers from both rider pegs. They don't do anything useful and look dorky IMO, but the weight savings was minimal.

(1 being best mod, 5 being worst)
    1. Tires.
    2. Rear suspension. (the stock front is actually very decent).
    3. Flash Tune. (more HP and less jerkyness)
    4. Brakes
    5. Ergonomics (seat, foot pegs, handlebars) stock is still fine.
    Extras: Tail Tidy and exhaust.

I would go for a bikini fairing a padded seat cover for long rides and a tank bag and possibly a rear rack mounted bag for interstate or weekends away.😊

Get some barend mirrors, would probably save a couple of grams but it looks so much better in my opinion :) Sweet bike btw, now I want an sv 650... :D

Are there any fitment issues with the controls ( horn , turn signal, etc) due the the bigger handle bar diameter

    • @predictionpain2632
      @predictionpain2632  4 роки тому

The assembly where the start switch is has maybe centimeter gap where is comes together. It’s only noticeable if you are looking for it. And since the bars a wider if you turn all the way to the right there is a slight pull in the clutch wire but is doesn’t effect any functionality.
