I love Deb's Rulers! I always appreciate that in her ruler designs and instructions for them she always thinks about us lefties and how we need to work too!
OMG I am in love! this is awesome thank you. I love this ruler I been wanting to make a storm at sea and been worried thinking I am not good enough yet but with this tool I can see myself totally making this quilt!.I love that you had other ideas for the tool as well. I love love that boarder in purple you made. I am so buying this right now. More videos please you do a really good job explaining.
I just finished your pattern Stormy Stars which uses this ruler. SO easy and an awesome quilt. I took the class with you in Norwich, NY back in September. Loved it!
Brilliant tool and brilliant video. I just purchased this because I want to tackle these shapes. I saw other rulers that cut the diamond in half, but I did not like that look. I cannot wait to use, and I appreciate the thought that goes into your tool and your vid demonstration. And your smallest segments would make an beautiful mug rug gift,
I've been using the V block ruler and the Square Squared ruler and I love them! So easy and so accurate. Can't wait to try the diamond rects ruler for a storm at sea quilt.
Great tutorial, love your style. This ruler will certainly make it easy to make the diamond rects....but what about the rest of the block? Are we on our own with that? Will diamond-rects made with this ruler fit into another pattern for the other blocks? So confused....what about the rest of the block?
Hi Deb. Love all of your rulers. I have been taking a series of monthly Tucker Un. classes at Nancy's Quilt shop and like to design my quilts using EQ8 software. Do you have any tricks to designing your blocks in EQ that will match the measurements of your rulers? For instance when designing a diamond rec block, using the 3" example in your video, the rectangle I imagine would measure finished at 3" but I am not sure of the diamond size or angle of cut to input into EQ. Any suggestions? Thanks so much for all of your tools and classes, they have made quilting life a lot less complicated.
The reason that this isn't a 60 degree diamond is because this one is specifically designed to be part of a rectangle that has a 2:1 ratio. Because it is designed to fit in the specific rectangle that changes the angles of the diamond. This ratio is traditionally used in Storm at Sea quilts. If you are looking for a 60 degree tool check out my Star 60 video.
Brilliant tutorial, as always. What does the Split rects do that this doesn't, or vice versa? What I'm really asking is do I need both! Thanks for being great and sharing with us.
I like your explanations and your ruler very much. I have been looking for such a ruler for a long time, but was not happy about what i could fine. with yours we can make so many different sizes. BUT sadly We can get those rulers on amazon in Europa. I am from Denmark and if I order directly from you in the states, the ruler will with all the taxes and other fee be about 3 times the price. it is very sad, I would love to have especially the Storm at Sea Ruler
We have some shops in Europe that order from us. We have one in the Netherlands that might have this in for you to order. Here is her website where you can contact her. linshang.nl/
You can find all our tools at the link below. The tool that we use for our pineapple quilt is not called a pineapple ruler. We use the Large Square Squared to make that quilt. deb-tuckers-studio-180-design.myshopify.com/collections/types?q=Tools
WOW stunning table runner you showed at end just love the way those colours pop. Can we buy this tool and also your wing clipper ruler or tool over here in New Zealand. Would love to buy one Enjoy your tutorials as easy to understand. Thanks again
+kthomp55 - go to www.studio180designs.net.......or visit one of your local quilt shops.....Deb will be at the Hampton VA Mancuso Quilt Fest next week - if you are in the area.
+kthomp55 More than welcome! Check out the videos on Deb's website.....they are GREAT!! I have every ruler (tool) that she has made,, and I can tell you that they have made my quilting so much better..........
I wish the company doing a kit of the month had chosen this ruler instead of buying two at 24 dollars a piece. Folding a rectangle block in half, putting the ruler on, cutting the edges (or in my case drawing the lines for accuracy) has been a nightmare. Then using another ruler to make the sides is a huge pain. Nothing is accurate because you can't trim down the sides. It's either correct or it isn't. The only way it's working is the fold and flip method to make sure the triangles meet at the edges of the main rectangle. When the entire pattern directions are to fold the fabric, put the ruler on and cut, it's not fun.
The quilt behind me is called Sea Glass. Here is where you can find it. deb-tuckers-studio-180-design.myshopify.com/products/sea-glass?_pos=1&_sid=05c974ad9&_ss=r

amazing ruler!
Genius - you must be an engineer!
Not an engineer, I just love math and making quilting easier for everyone.
Question; why do you use what appears to be 65 degrees and not 60 as is most common for your diamonds. You are a good instructor you get to point.
The reason that this isn't a 60 degree diamond is because this one is specifically designed to be part of a rectangle that has a 2:1 ratio. Because it is designed to fit in the specific rectangle that changes the angles of the diamond. This ratio is traditionally used in Storm at Sea quilts.
