im going to ride a long board to work because it looks so easy and fast across street but i never had an experience or even skateboard before. i think this should do it. haha wish me luck guys
Hah, thought of the same.. got an Yuneec E-Go electric longboard... LOVE. Just.. insanely good :) but now I wanna learn how to ride it without motors too :D
It’s actually a really good idea to do this. Over the years, we forget the basics lol. It’s good to have a refresher on anything that you’ve forgotten or subconsciously stopped doing
Louis Pilloni is probably one of the best people you can get to teach you how to longboard. All you new boarders should really pay attention if you're having some issues. There is no better video that can teach you this subject.
I planing on buy a longboard, I want to ride on street. Never been on skate, I'm 35, hope not dying on the process. (I was a bmx rider on my best years, flatlander)
deftoner you'll want to get a surfboard inspired longboard. fairly flexible board, soft wheels and fairly responsive. you'll have a good time with one of these.
That's awesome guys. I know how to ride a long board. But I saw your thing on Instagram and thought I would check it out. Its cool that you guys uploaded a video like this. You should do more thinks like this, trick tips, tips in general, fun thing to try. Just miscellaneous things.(:
We actually have a bunch of more "How To" videos in the works! Suggestions are always welcomed though, we're going to try and do as many as we have time for :)
I'm 27 years old and bought my longboard a few days ago I absolutely don't know how to ride a skateboard period but with the help of this video I tried to ride my board today for the first time and I'm hooked it's so much fun riding a skateboard
I appreciate that you took the time to cover the basics. I haven't touched a board in 25 years, and even then I didn't know what I was doing. Thanks! Also, those super wide wheels are awesome!
Awesome tutorial! I can't ain't to get a long board and just enjoy the ride. The tutorial was great and provided much needed info, good job you guys! :)
I bought myself a longboard, tried to learn one summer and gave up. It sat in my closet for a whole year and now I'm at it again but I suck lol. Been riding for 2 days now I was able to make it to work off and on but I find riding on the sidewalk to be very hard. It's like I don't push hard enough but I swear I'm pushing as hard as possible. Needless to say I love riding though I've always wanted to learn I am 21 now and determined as hell I think I just need to fall off just to get used to the idea of falling, since I always just bail and look like an idiot. One thing I can't get used to is starting: I start with my front foot straight only slightly angled and it stays straight forever, making me really unbalanced. Just can't seem to angle my front foot properly when on the board, any tips would be suuuuper helpful.
Lower boards (drop through / drop down / double drop) = easier pushing. Make sure to have your weight on your front foot when pushing and bend your knee.
I remember when i tried skateboard >i know its differnt from longboarding< I felt like i had to push every other second like I seen all the other people would be able to cruise for a good while before pushing again while i felt like i would always need to frantically push to keep going.
Madelope Keep your weight on the balls of your feet. That could help with the pivot, and wear skate shoes if you're not. The simple flat bottom of the soles helps.
wow great video no one has ever told me about the weight distribution or how your pushing foot shouldnt have all the weight on it. My worst problem was balance and im sure these tips will help me
I'm going to start skateboarding. I have been already, but I just got a longboard and have no experience with it. Day 1: I can push, but balancing while pushing is something I need to work on
Gavin x7 lmao I forgot about this comment! So it’s been about a year and I actually got a new board. It’s a Dinghy board, it’s great for cruising. I have balance now, and can do one simple trick. That’s about it :)
Gonna start commuting down the street to classes this semester. Glad to see from the comment thread that I’m not the only older dude trying to learn (27 yo) let’s roll fellas 🛹🤙🏽
i just recently got a longboard i really didnt need the helmet cause i have experience with penny boards and other skate boards this vid really helped me though thnaks so muhc for making it
Did it really need tips for deciding whether to go regular or goofy? Here's an even greater tip: Try both and just go with whatever feels best. I'm in my early 30's and I'm just getting into using a longboard to get around... But I did skate a lot back in my teens on a regular skateboard. Guess how I ended up with goofy? It just felt easier to me. Also, a great explanation on how to push. That's something a lot of other videos I've seen completely skip over. They might tell how to get moving, but not how to keep going.
I got my first skateboard when I was 8 but never learned how to SKATE. I can't do tricks or anything so in May I decided to buy myself a longboard so people would stop asking me to do tricks lmao. I find them way better than regular skateboards. You're less likely to be stopped by small rocks or patches of mud or a stick on the road and go flying off your longboard.
Just got my board today, Pintail. 24 and never have stepped on a board in my life. I feel like i could get used to getting on the board and pushing. But turning is a big concern
My right leg is my dominent leg but i am much confident on having the left leg on the board, now i am learning how to switch legs and that seems to be hard
I used a regular skateboard in the past, but now I have only a long board, not a cruiser though, it's really long and with it I am struggling to turn as much as I used to in 1 turn. Any advice?
Softer bushings and higher degree baseplates will help you get more turn out of your board. What trucks do you have on your board now, and how much do you weight?
Okay so I just got a longboard and I dunno how to transition from your feet being to the side and from having your front foot straight. Can someone help?
I've always wanted to ride one since I was in elementary school but I think people will make fun of a chubby 200 pound 5'5 ft asian man that's riding one of these -_- Everyone here that has one are tall and skinny T-T
hey, im waiting until nightfall to go test my longboard I recieved today. Don't want to ppl see mee falling on my ass the first 100 times. :D I feel so wobbly when I tried it in my house. :D
I have a question when my friend pushes me i use my right leg but i cant stay on the board with right foot, i mean im not feeling good so i just use my left one it feels way better am i regular ?
Is it bad if my plant foot gives me more balance in the back of the board than in the front because i tend to go to the back of the board for my plant foot
So, I snowboard a little, and I just started to longboarding. I find longboarding pretty easy. Is this just me, or is there similarity between snowboarding and longboarding?
Can u sort of lock your board? So when I go to school with it, it won't get stolen. I don't have my longboard yet, but in my head I couldn't think of a good stealproof-way. Any tips?
I like the board she had in the video. But how could i get the wheels to kean like them both? The reason I wanted a ripstik was because it turned easier, but I wasn't aware that skateboards turned this easily. Also I want good wheels that can take long distance traveling better. Are white ones better?
Thanks! I don't have one yet but I was just wandering. And at school someone showed me theirs that leaned the way I wanted it two but they had dual gauges(not sure if that's the correct word). but in the place where you put your screws he had two for the front and the tail I think.
I board all the time, but I always suck at transitioning my feet sideways. Also when I push off my legs are nowhere near as straight as yours. You swing your leg out so easily, but I literally can't swing my leg too far forward or back otherwise I fall.
It all comes with practice. Maybe look into an Indo (balance) board or a slack line. You could also try balancing on one foot as you ride. Push, balance, push, balance, repeat. You'll get it!
-got a cruiser board today here in netherlands and this tutorial is the best for me,explained briefly for beginners, hope to learn fast and ride this board as smooth as fvck🤙.. -bought this board for going ashore in different countries, because im a sailor👌
does it matter i have been longboarding for about a year and can do some tricks but i ride with my right foot in back and push with my left foot then put it on front
im going to ride a long board to work because it looks so easy and fast across street but i never had an experience or even skateboard before. i think this should do it. haha wish me luck guys
Good luck bro :)
Yew! It'll make your commute soooo much more fun, you got this bro!
Hah, thought of the same.. got an Yuneec E-Go electric longboard... LOVE. Just.. insanely good :) but now I wanna learn how to ride it without motors too :D

sAME HAHAHA oops caps
Same here lol

Eric Marquez Yeh dunno why I did that but I did realise I've been doing it wrong all these yeara
It’s actually a really good idea to do this. Over the years, we forget the basics lol. It’s good to have a refresher on anything that you’ve forgotten or subconsciously stopped doing
now I just need to get over the fear of busting my ass
I don't have to worry about stoping
Because i cant even start kms
Unbox Boy so how'd it go
Same
Can you start now
red wolf Yes!!! I use my longboard to commute daily:)
@@KodiakTeddy niiiceeee im just starting 🤣

I like dat name.
thanks for your advice (no exaggeration)
my first time, faceplant. Most damage to palms, that sneaky little rock. Cant wait to be good enough to feel relaxed on the board.
How's it going
I tried once and fell flat on my back😅
my first day of longboarding i fell off and the board rolled into a sewer drain..
Stephen Reverski oh geez
I fell twice my first day, which was two days ago. Now my left knee and elbow is all scraped up. Got pads coming in the mail tho
I planing on buy a longboard, I want to ride on street. Never been on skate, I'm 35, hope not dying on the process. (I was a bmx rider on my best years, flatlander)

4:19 How to destroy the bottom of your shoes 101
If you're worried about it you can get sacrificial soles that attach to the bottom made specifically for foot braking. :-)
LozzerGuide xD
Or just brake differently like swerving to the side
LozzerGuide old car tires work wonders too
That's awesome guys. I know how to ride a long board. But I saw your thing on Instagram and thought I would check it out. Its cool that you guys uploaded a video like this. You should do more thinks like this, trick tips, tips in general, fun thing to try. Just miscellaneous things.(:

most basic and straight forward vid I found thanks!!
This is the only helpful video I’ve seen in days. Thank you.
Excellent video. Clear, condensed, and to the point. Thanks!

Practice cruising slow on one foot.

ahahah omg there seriously is someone working out in the background. xD
+jojaba2u soooooooo funny right

Gavin x7 I didn’t expect anyone to reply haha
I just bought a broad from your website and I love it
Great dominant foot test!
Thanks, i juust bought a board like yours. This tutorial is helpful for me.
I really liked the tip about keeping your weight on your board while you kick/push. That is something I have not been doing the best job of.
Gonna start commuting down the street to classes this semester. Glad to see from the comment thread that I’m not the only older dude trying to learn (27 yo) let’s roll fellas 🛹🤙🏽
This IS totally wonderful!! Thank you :D IT is awesomly showed and helpful for me :)
This video was very helpful i just bought a long board and turning was confusing for me.

Thank you for this video.
Those wheels on the mini cruiser looks sick
Did it really need tips for deciding whether to go regular or goofy?
Here's an even greater tip: Try both and just go with whatever feels best.

I use my dominant foot for my pushing and I also feel comfortable
Its personal preference. i guess
Visatron like I usually ride how I'm use to and how I was taught kind of
+Brandon Shinn ok. You don't have traumas right?!
+Visatron what do you mean do I have traumas
Brandon Shinn It was a joke as to being "forced" to ride with your wrong foot xD
What board is he riding?

My right leg is my dominent leg but i am much confident on having the left leg on the board, now i am learning how to switch legs and that seems to be hard
is it a good idea to get your first board second hand?
wow thats great
Are those Emerica shoes?
now this is a good tutorial.
I used a regular skateboard in the past, but now I have only a long board, not a cruiser though, it's really long and with it I am struggling to turn as much as I used to in 1 turn. Any advice?

Can someone figure out what the measurement and type of board the guy has? how big of a wheel is suited for a brick side walk?
I'm trying to find the same style deck the girl is using. What do you call that type of deck? "Single kicktail"? "Cruiser"?
I believe it Is a drop through, I have the same type and it is called a drop through
Can u sort of lock your board? So when I go to school with it, it won't get stolen. I don't have my longboard yet, but in my head I couldn't think of a good stealproof-way. Any tips?
I just got a cruiser and it's kicking my ass the turning is too sensitive should I tighten the trucks?
What deck is that guy using? Looks like a rad mini cruiser
i think its the sector 9 arrow
The sector 9 Barra Soap Complete but with the new 9ball double wide wheels instead of the stock wheels I think.
TheLBbrothers Thanks!
no prob
+TheLBbrothers Do you know what deck the girl is using?
Thank you :)
What was the deck Louis was using?
Wow glad i can i finally ride my darkside ty! Haha
Chelsea had my favorite board
I like the board she had in the video. But how could i get the wheels to kean like them both? +Da'Shawn Glover Im only a beginner lol. But what I think you're talking about it bushings
+Draxcer im a beginner too ^^
yeah buddy!
but how do yall last so long?? and why do i get so tired? should i push lighter? or not force my push so hard
What trucks would you recommend for a 40 inch longboard? Please comment a link!
You can never go wrong with 180mm Paris V2 50° Trucks!
www.muirskate.com/longboard/brands/paris
+MuirSkate Longboard Shop Thanks! I will definitely buy these and use them well. They will be a good replacement for my Yocaher trucks.
What would be the best longboard for a beginner?
how do you get your foot placement like that
gull wing sidewinder 2's all the way!
I board all the time, but I always suck at transitioning my feet sideways. Also when I push off my legs are nowhere near as straight as yours. You swing your leg out so easily, but I literally can't swing my leg too far forward or back otherwise I fall.

What sector 9 wheels does Louis Pilloni have on his board?
-got a cruiser board today here in netherlands and this tutorial is the best for me,explained briefly for beginners, hope to learn fast and ride this board as smooth as fvck🤙..
