    Thank you for this episode. As someone who very much appreciates your channel and the excellence of your work, I especially admire your direct comments about the two Eylau games and their shortcomings. It's good that the designers have spent a lot of time trying to make things right, but it's disappointing that major problems appeared that were not caught in time.

    I have plenty. I have many magazine games that I review the maps to compliment the articles. Most are unpunched. NATO Commander, City Fight and Fulda Gap are my most favorite unplayed games, due to lack of participants with similar interests…the agony of living in rural America!!

    Proud to say I only have 2 games on my shelf of shame. Both of them from series I recently discovered and enjoyed very much: OCS Luzon and Next War Iran.

    As you said, your shelf of shame is not too bad this year, congrats 😀 I do prefer to call it shelf of opportunity😁 Really looking forward to your Seljuk!

    Eylau 1807 is a rare gem. You need to get it to your table.

    My pile is definitely bigger then yours - had a good start of the year but life got busier as it went on, so also have some titles that I'm yet to play, including some overlap with yours (The Fate of All & Thunder on the Mississippi). But overall pretty happy with what I've achieved, especially getting some monsters to the table 😁

    Terrific video, Justin. I think we all have a Shelf of Shame to a certain extent (ha!).
    Appreciate your insight on those two Napoleonic games, thank goodness I didn’t purchase either.

    7:32 that’s such a bummer about both of those Napoleonic games. Especially NES.

    I really enjoyed FITNA. The game mechanics are really interesting with the focus on the regional players instead of the superpowers, although they are represented. A guy names Comrade Snake did a solo playthrough that was pretty good. Hope to see you get this one on video.

    I am interested in all of these, but maybe I shouldn't be surprised, having established we have a very similar taste in games!
    I am particularly interested to hear thoughts on Mirages, before pulling the trigger.
    Fate of All also looks neat, but I am wary of games of this scope often being over ambitious. (Thinking of something like Imperium Romanum)

    I really want to pull the trigger on Winter's War, but you have me worried. I'm writing off Sound of Drums for a while. We'll see how the next release goes, if there is one. I may have to reconcile myself to the reality that La Bataille may still be the only choice for high end Napoleonic tactical. What do you think?

    • @Justegarde
      @Justegarde  17 днів тому

      @@ericneff9908 Yeah it’s kind of a weird space. TLNB is grand tactical and not everyone’s cup of tea. Eagles of France: I am not a fan at all. Vive L’Empereur: I have yet to play it but I also never hear anyone talk about it. La Bat does seem to be the king, though if Sound of Drums can figure it out, I think they might be a worthy competitor.

      @@Justegarde I've always found it surprising (and disappointing) that good operational-level (or grand tactical) Napoleonic systems are so few. Especially given the ACW choices. TLNB doesn't do it for me and I've really tried to love it.

    Same issue with Eylau 1807 (the rules), and some miss-aligned counters to boot means it's unplayed. Uwe has promised to fix these probs and provide replacement rules and counters in the next game in the series (which should have been out in '24). Fingers crossed for '25. I'm glad I avoided Winters Victory given yr experience. Fate of All is v.good.
