About the plastic wrap roller: it comes with a roll so you’ll exceed the return policy from Amazon. By the time you figure out your favorite cling wrap doesn’t fit it’s too late to return.
I mean, that isn't even an issue, the issue is why does this exist? If you're going to buy that thing, just go to a Costco and buy the giant cling wrap roll which dispenses exactly the same way this one does. Even has the cutter.
@@acywei You don't even have to go to Costco (which isn't everywhere and can be...problematic for singles, seniors, public transit users, etc.). Saran makes the same thing!
Seriously. You can see and hear the cheapness of this turd. My cling wrap comes in a fitted box that's easy to dispense & store, and has a serrated edge which cuts quite easily. Don't all of them come like this? (Also, I'll pass on using the included open-air, unsealed cling wrap, with no labels, paperwork (is it even food-grade?), from some poorly regulated multi-use factory... 😕)

The ChefsTemp X10 is the best thermometer I’ve ever used. I have two of them and being a retired professional chef with a career spanning 3 decades this is the best thermometer I’ve used
The ChefsTemp thermometer would be 'okay' in a professional kitchen. As a chef, it's probably too big to put in our chef jacket pockets. However, many thermometers I use have the Celsius & Fahrenheit button on the outside and it's an annoyance to some of my cooks for how often that button gets switched in their pockets. I like the internal switch of the ChefsTemp and might order one of my own. Nice review! Maybe test the out of the box accuracy of thermometers in the future.

And normal whisks are a pain in the ass to clean thoroughly. This one twists flat so you can easily get to all the surface area with a sponge. Thanks for the video! 👍
I think the ChefsTemp Finaltouch X10 is the best thermometer that I have ever seen. It has all the functions that I really need but no other products can combine them in one. Love it and thanks for sharing!!
My massive plastic wrap from costco has the cutting blade glued in onto the top. It's handy. It comes off way too easy but super gluing it down seems to work perfectly. I'll stick with that.
Exactly. Or, less enthusiastically, every regular-sized cling wrap I've ever purchased has had a compact box, easy to store and serrated edge for cutting?
For the plastic wrap thingy, what they need is a small, thin, light container, maybe made of cardboard or some other very light, cheap material, that you hold in one hand while you pull the wrap out with the other using a thin serrated edge attached along the length of the container to cut the plastic wrap.
I use a brand of plastic wrap that has the cutter that this dispenser does. It sticks to the top of the box and does a much better job than the crappy dispenser he reviewed.
I haven't tried that particular whisk but I have one that I guarantee has the same problem (for me at least) as that one. Sometimes to get a really good mix I like to spin the whisk by rolling it between my hands and the handle on that one is so thick that there's no way I can get a good spin like that, whereas my go-to whisk's handle is no thicker than a pen so I can get a really fast spin mixing a lot of air into the food, or just simply getting everything moving better as I mix.
Besides being useful for my own use, your vides give me so many gift ideas! Thank you for sharing so many products I would have never even known existed.
LOVED the paper towel topper! It’s not merely something to keep all of that inevitable moisture off of the roll, but it also helps in being able to use it for one handed dispensary! I am most impressed…many thanks!
I really like the ChefsTemp Final touch X10. It's really handy that it is magnetic! I also heard it's the fastest thermometer and turns out it's true!!🥰👍
Thanks so much for that tomato slicer - I’ve been pondering one for years! I will not be buying one!!! I can cut tomatoes just fine without it and besides I don’t cut tomato’s the way you did - I cut crosswise. Your reviews are perfect! Saves me lots of money😄😄😄😄
You should try the "Meter" its a phone connected thermometer that gives you accurate temperature for the entire cook time instead of just whenever you remember to check.
My concern with the twist whisk is all of the crevices created by the sections for each wire. It’s probably easier to clean the whisk part when it’s flat, but I’m not neat enough to always avoid getting batter or flour in the parts at the base of the wires. I’d end up with a crusty mess and spend hours with a toothpick trying to get pancake mix or dried egg out of those cracks after washing it. Cool idea - especially being flat for storage - but I’d get annoyed if the gunk wouldn’t come out in the dishwasher. And I really wanted to like the slicer thing, but the tines didn’t line up as soon as it was open…and, you know, the whole falling apart thing. Love your channel!
On your recommendation I also own the twist whisk. I do love it. I love the space-saving part of it. I do not use it as a spatula. I might be able to use it on something light but I'm not worried about that part. Thank you.
As always a superb series of reviews. Appreciate a) the editing of your videos, and b) the common sense approach to testing. You are so fair, in some ways not critical enough in pointing out deficiencies, but that's part of the charm of your reviews. Am waiting for the day you refer to something as "junk."
I bought the whisk, I wanted a silicone whisk for when I’m making sauces or gravy’s in my non stick, and liked the idea of it folding flat. It’s a good whisk.
How's the quality of the mechanics? I really like the idea of this whisk a lot, but in the video, every time he turns it to open or close it, it sounds like it's cracking apart like it'll break soon ...
Questions: On the slicer holder segment. What knife are you using it? And how do you maintain it? (What do you use to sharpen/honing) Your knife is very impressive !
Is it possible that if you placed the tomato higher up in the slicer with the tomato out the top that you'd then be able slice all the way through? The shape makes me think that would work... Hopefully you can understand what I'm describing.
Problem with Silicon whisks is that they still have metal tines inside (that's how they keep their shape and rigidity). And, if you use them in, say, a cast iron dutch oven or against hot steel (making gravy or something), they can break at the tips (the tip being the "end", or part that probably touches the surface most).
Regarding the wrap dispenser. We got one that is wall mounted. It's combined with an aluminium foil and papertowel holder and it works perfectly fine. Every brand we tried dis fit in so far.
@@R.Williams Costco is great but I just don’t use much plastic wrap - or foil for that matter. The big packages won’t fit in my drawer where these type products have to live. I’m still using foil from a warehouse store I bought over 15 years ago🤭🤭

I've had silicone covered whisks before, over time the silicone comes off in places and then its useless, as you don't want pieces in your food or the tines start to rust.

Been using since then (over 20 yrs)and never problem with brand or size of refills. They now sell for $31 each. Store in wire wrap holder attached to door of sink cabinet, perfect fit for all 3.
Hi Love your Reviews, Thank you for them. One thing I would love to see as I use Whisk a lot is a whisk cleaner. Its so hard to clean them. the plastic scraper things you put on before use seems ok but really dont clean them, so far anyway.
Easy homemade "Paper Towel Topper" is to use an old CD / CD-R and make the hole bigger, it took me only about 10 minutes, and that includes the setup to use the Dremel. 😎 (if you need to, use a knife to scratch/score the side that is against the towel for more friction)
Nice demonstration, James! The paper towel topper looks like a great solution to the old problem of getting the paper towels to tear off without getting 3 times as many as you want or getting the other paper towels all wet and/or dirty. If I didn't have an undercabinet mounted paper towel dispenser, I'd definitely get one of those. The paper towel topper is back in stock on Amazon. The Chef's temp thermometer definitely looks much more useful than the brand I currently own. It reads much faster, and being able to twist the probe to either side is handy. Also, having it turn on on its own is nice. The C/F switch being inside would really only bother me once. The price is a stopper for me, though, even with the discount. The twist whisk would be good, but I never use a whisk, so it's not for me. The other 2 items don't work well enough for me to even consider them.
The only salvaging action I could say for the cutting guide holder thing is to do one final cut across the original cuts to break the slices loose in one cut, but then it’s wasteful and you’re still better off practicing and just free handing it
Good reviews! Chiming in to say that cooking in Canada, I actually do change my thermometer between °C and °F pretty often. Probably not most people's experience though! (Also that thermometer did come to temperature impressively fast)
Twist whisk is nice as being able to flatten it makes it easier to clean than a traditional whisk. The paper tower topper is a good idea, I just don't see why you would buy one. You can find the .STL file (3D mode file) online and just take it to your local library and have it 3D printed for free. Cling wrap dispenser is pointless, it literally doesn't solve any issue, if you like the cutting style dispense, you can buy rolls that have those cutters built onto the box. For those who aren't aware, because apparently a lot of people don't know, there a tabs on either end of cling wrap boxes that you push in and they hold the roll in the box (same goes for aluminum foil boxes)
The cling wrap holder gives me an idea to move all my rolls to that skinny top drawer. Poke in the end of the carton to keep the roll in the box and use the semi closed drawer to hold the box in place….I have never trusted suction cups. Thanks James.
Man, I had higher hopes for that plastic wrap dispenser - My mom loves cooking and uses plastic wrap all the time, but the box they come in are usually barely functional at best - Sadly this product doesn't seem like much of an improvement. Thanks for the review!
My boxes of plastic wrap also have a cutter and the work just fine (mostly) for me. I’m of an older group (almost 75) it I can still cut, plastic wrap - except Saran!!! That stuff drives me 😜
Costco sells plastic wrap etc with the slide cutter built into the box. It works great, unlike the one James tried. This could help your Mom, it's been a game changer for me.
Most restaurant supply places have nice dispensers. My mother works in a school cafeteria and they have wall mounted ones for cling film, foil, and wax paper that work great. I'd get a good one before I got some junk like this.
@@sandybruce9092 I appreciate your comment! My mom is about to turn 66, and she makes the plastic wrap out of the box work, but I want to get her something she can feel more confident using.
Wonder if twist wisk would be good for baking, like if making merang or somthing that would normly get stuck in the wisk. Could it turn and the easy clean/removal of stuck goods?
I didn't know you had a store, but as for the products, I agree...most of them are crap. Strangely enough, the one I thought was most useful was the one that covers paper towels...just in case you have bohemians over who like to get a paper towel before washing their hands. It might actually be of some use at a family get together or a party. 😀
You should test the Meater. It connects with your cell phone. Put probe in meat as directed. Enter what type of meat you are cooking, and enter how done. It tells you temp at that moment and tells you when done. I first tried it in a pork loin roast. It said it was done long before I would have even tested with a regular thermometer. It was perfectly cooked. Would be a great gift for a new cook. It is not for everything. Don’t think it would work for water etc. it may be only for meat.
Best paper towel "gadget" ever is the under the cabinet hanger for paper towels. It never gets wet from countertop splashes AND it frees up countertop space. Who doesn't need more countertop space?
Would be curious to know how you like using a ThermoWorks Therma Pen. It is pretty widely regarded as the best instant thermometer and you seem to have a lot of samples to compare it too.
We had a larger scale plastic wrap dispenser at my old job. We stopped using it for multiple reasons at one point. The boxes of plastic wrap had a cutter already! What is the point in taking it out of the box and wrestling with it to put it in the other container? Also I wish that whisk was a dreamfarm item. It’d be called twhisk. Missed opportunity
The plastic dispenser looked like a disaster ready to happen. There are many other options out there that are easier to use and hold bigger rolls. The Twist Whisk is kind of ingenious.
Kitchen thermometers. I need a tough, can be dropped once and not break, and easy to read. Recommend one? The paper towel protector I need. I use to work on my car or paint the house. Get my paper towels all nasty. Needed that years ago. 💁🏼♂️
Why am I so excited over something as simple as the Paper Towel Topper? Let's see.... Paper Towel Topper or two gallons of gasoline? Hmmm... I'm getting a Paper Towel Topper. :)
At Costco, you can purchase plastic wrap etc with the slide cutter built into the box already. It works quite well & since it's made especially for the products, no problems with a role being too big or too wide. The only concern for some people would be that it's a rather large role of plastic wrap, aluminum foil, etc, so they won't fit in my kitchen drawers. My work around is to store them in the pantry, which works well for me.
That roll dispenser has potential, they just gotta give it some stronger magnets, better suction cups, and maybe an adjustable mechanism for different lengths and diameters of rolls.
I think an overlooked feature of the twist whisk is how easy it would be to clean when flattened.
Until you drop it in the eggs and they dry inside the mechanism, then try to clean in there.
It actually even disassembled to be put in the dishwasher. And super easy remove excess batter. The downside imo is that you can’t be as aggressive when whisking. But overall i am very happy with mine.

Love your patience with the paper towel holder when it was attached to your fridge, chaos is a much better word that I would have said
Twist whisk is nice as being able to flatten it makes it easier to clean than a traditional whisk.
Nice that your local library does that. Mine doesn't
The Wrapmaster 1000 is the best plastic wrap dispenser by far!
This is the first time I've seen a hassleback tomato
I'm right on time. Good morning Freakin' Reviews!
I have the twist and if definitely is a must for any kichen
The cling wrap holder gives me an idea to move all my rolls to that skinny top drawer. Poke in the end of the carton to keep the roll in the box and use the semi closed drawer to hold the box in place….I have never trusted suction cups. Thanks James.
If you want a good instant read thermometer, I highly recommend a thermapen.
@@Oceangirl_505 That is the current go-to, and it works pretty great, but I want to get her something that works even better.
The slicer holder does have a purpose in my mind, since it doesn't cut all the way to the bottom it's great for dicing
Lolololol when debating about the sizes of the tomatoes 😭 I literally laughed out loud cracking up
I hope you're having a wonderful Sunday! That poor tomato 🍅 I'm loving campari tomatoes right now. 😊
Don’t think it would work for water etc. it may be only for meat.
that kitchen towel topper looks like those plastic disks you would get in a box of dvds.
As always, very interesting!
The plastic dispenser looked like a disaster ready to happen. There are many other options out there that are easier to use and hold bigger rolls. The Twist Whisk is kind of ingenious.
iv seen videos of the Javanese cling film, those are so awesome to use no fancy gadgets needed. wonder why they dont make the cling film like that.
Kitchen thermometers. I need a tough, can be dropped once and not break, and easy to read. Recommend one? The paper towel protector I need. I use to work on my car or paint the house. Get my paper towels all nasty. Needed that years ago. 💁🏼♂️
Love your kitchen hacks :)
Awesome, didn't expect another video so soon! Literally watching this while waiting in a drive thru line 😜👍
Haha that's great!
The thermometer America's Test Kitchen recommends has all those functions and more and is very cheap. I think it's branded Alphagrillers?
I had the metal version of the tomato slicer. Didn't keep it long, as it was useless.
10:14 cutting with Slicer Holder is damaging the Slicer Holder. It might cause that plastic to chip away along with Tomato pieces ...
freaking reviews is the freakin best 👑👍😺🇬🇧
Is the twist whisk any good with beating a thicker batter or mixing chilled/near room temperature butter with flour?
That roll dispenser has potential, they just gotta give it some stronger magnets, better suction cups, and maybe an adjustable mechanism for different lengths and diameters of rolls.
