Anita's Story - RA Awareness Week 2022

Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) impacts over 430,000 people in the UK alone. NRAS is the only patient-led organisation in the UK specialising in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA). Our mission is to provide support for everyone living with RA or JIA, inform and be their first choice for reliable information surrounding the conditions and empower all to have a voice and take control of their RA or JIA.
This year, our annual RA Awareness Week focuses on the misconceptions surrounding the disease and we want to hear your stories. To kick start this campaign, our Marketing Manager, Anita shared her experiences and journey with RA, from being diagnosed at the age of 21 to kick starting her own photography business!

It’s the pacing of oneself. That’s hard because even when you think you’re not doing too much, you sometimes are. I’m in my 60’s and that’s one of the hardest parts for me.

Hello, Anita here. Thank you, I am glad my story has helped! I started off on Hydroxychloroquine and Methotrexate and now I am just on Hydroxychloroquine as my RA is now well managed. It may take some time to find the medication that works for you so talk to you doctor about this.
