San Andres is great for a first time visitor. It is one of the safer cities, and you will find more English speakers than in other Colombian cities. Being an Island, prices run higher than other cities, but still cheaper than a US or Aussie vacation.
Near Bucaramanga you can visit the second deepest Canyon in the world (El Cañón del Chicamocha), a statue similar to the Christ the Redeemer of Brazil where you can see a beautiful panoramic view of the city (El Ecoparque Cerro del Santísimo), you can visit a coffee farm where one of the best coffees in Colombia is produced at Mesa de los Santos, you can paraglide in Floridablanca or eat typical sweets (Las Obleas), you can visit a Heritage Town (San Juan de Girón), visit its parks, enjoy of its gastronomy, among many other activities.
Just discovered your channel - stands out among the myriad of other Colombia-based You Tubers for the intelligent and straight-to-the-point analysis. Would be very interested to see a best places to live video when you get around to it - I've lived in Medellín now for 2-1/2 years and ready for a change.
If this were a list of my top 5 cities to live, Manizales would definitely be higher up for me too! I also agree that Medellin is a bit overrated, I just put it on here as I figured it had enough going on to warrant checking it out at least. As for Cartagena, I've actually seen a lot of people give a similar opinion. All the negativity surrounding it actually inspired me to make a video about it, which I'll be uploading today ☺️
Gotta heavily disagree with #1. Cartagena is good for one day to visit the historical stuff, then hop on a shuttle and head to Santa Marta (which is the actual number one). Have you been to the 90% of Cartagena outside of the old town? Only time I have ever truly been scared (and I’m an Iraq vet). Like tires burning in the streets type of environment. The Somalia of South America.
Barranquilla is a must is a very developed city with nice people, could be in the ranking of cities to live

Thanks so much ☺️ Definitely planning on doing that video at some point :)
Did you speak Spanish before moving there or are you learning it now? That would make a good video.
I'd been learning it for about 3 years before I went, but still practicing now. And thanks for the idea! I reckon I'll do that 😁
Manizales would def be my #1, I would not even have Medellin or Cartagena on the list, very very unpopular opinion!! I am a small town person tho!

😂😂😂
Too many Americans in Medellin, like the city, do not like hearing Americans at exito
