Man you guys are 1000% on the nose about people loving to be negative and only chiming in when they have something to complain about.
I see so many reviews and stuff of games just RIPPING into shit, and people just love it. I think it's so much better to celebrate the things you love than to rip into the things you hate.
So true about what Derrick said about how everyone thinks they’re an expert. “Why does their opinion matter?” Is what I ask myself all the time when it comes to those UA-cam reviewers.

1:22:00: Rocco, have you read 'The Matrix comics' (that's literally what they're called, no fancy play on words like with the Animatrix...)?? I think you'd really like them. Lots of short stories set in the extended Matrix universe. There's two volumes. Some great comic writers and artists contributed with the Wackowskis on them. Would like to hear your take.

A lot of the hate for Metal Gear Survive has less to do with the quality of the game itself or even the lack of Kojima, but more so with what it represents. It essentially comes from the hubris of Konami thinking that they can market a by-the-numbers survival co-op game, one that already seems like overpriced DLC with microtransactions to boot, simply by putting the Metal Gear name on it and that people would still buy it in droves. And honestly, hearing y'all talk about it here kind of lends credence to that idea. You guys are essentially saying "As much as we like to rail against game companies for their bad and sometimes predatory business practices in our podcast and comedy sketches, we'll put up with any amount of this nonsense while throwing our money at it as long as it has a familiar name in the title."
You are free to do whatever you want with your money, but if you are really tired of bad gaming practices and want games as a whole to change for the better, you should really be more conscious about how you support these titles. After all, you can't really complain about how this stuff continues to happen if you keep giving them your money.

I play Metal Gear Survive (I don't know what's wrong with me), but I can safely say that the most offensive microtransaction in the game is when you get to end game you can do base digging operations that unlock cool new base features and goodies to play with, and it's usually a 3 wave affair. The catch is that after each wave, the drill goes on cooldown for 12-24 real life hours and if you don't play the game at the next designated wave the attack continues without you and your base gets attacked whether you are playing or not. So you can either pay to start the drill right away and bypass the ridiculously long cooldown or you can just turn the game into a job and make sure you show up in game on time for your in-game wave defense.
because of you guys I've honestly changed a lot of my thinking to posi vibes all the time, and I am def gonna try and showcase that side of gaming instead of all the hate on my stuff. please keep it up!!!

I love the segment on books. If you guys would like to be more avid readers, might i suggest forming a Mega64 Bookclub? Theres a huge community on UA-cam called 'Booktube'. It contains reviews of books, book hauls, how to write books etc. Its really cool and i think having a Mega64 voice in that community would really spice it up and broaden the interest's and conversation between the already established Mega64 Army.

Favourite stand ups are Stewart Lee, Richard Herring and Simon Munnery - they're more on the alternative side of British comedy, but are absolutely fantastic, well worth checking out

But even if you ignore the background drama about MG Survive's development, the game itself is just not good, I played it.
The gameplay loop is shallow and dull, the environments ARE recycled from MGSV, which is a valid argument, the melee combat is absolutely PAINFUL.
Every single action in the game is extended in order to tire you out, the red dead animation comment rings true, they're trying to exhaust you so you give in and use real money instead.
There's only 3 enemy types, 2 of which have the exact same moveset.
How can you defend this shit?
There are quite a few enemy types, the game just takes an eternity to reveal them.

Metal Gear Survive is just incredibly grindy, repetitive, tedious and mishandles all of the cool things MGSV brought to the table. I can't really recommend it to anyone. It should have been a $15 DLC or something.

i agree with tom segura forsure, hes my favorite right now. Hannibal is great, patton oswalt has like 4 specials on netflix, also a guy named gary goleman has 2 pretty good ones
The saveslot is not exactly a save slot though. You basically get another character in the same story progression but just a fresh level 1 who can also farm side missions. So in the end all the micro transactions is just to make you farm faster.
Garrett really needs to send those Walking Dead early issues into CGC before the hype dies down.

Tom Segura is awesome. My favorite comic is Anthony Jeselnik. All of his albums are great and his joke writing is Stephen Wright but way smarter, in my opinion

MG:S sounds more like a steam indie game the way you describe it. Survival, zombies, crafting. Seems like all they did was give it the AAA treatment and slap some micro-transactions on it. The publishers must have been stuck between a rock and a hard place. Name it Metal Gear and the fans freak out, name it anything else and it'll be so forgettable nobody will play it.

motboy8 It's a lost cause trying to debate who's opinion is more valid. At the end of the day they're still just opinions. I like Garrett, his opinion means a lot to me, but I know what I like. I personally don't enjoy survival crafting games like Don't Starve. I'm sorry you were bothered enough to tell me this, but I hope your day gets better.
I'm never going to touch the game and I hate Konami, but I don't really mind saveslots as dlc since the game is cheaper.
To me, an outsider, it looks like games as a service actually being taken to heart. "You just want to play the core experience at your own pace? Fine, thirty bucks will make us a profit since you most likely wont take too much server bandwidth."

I hear you Derrick. Free to play mobile games are intentionally made to be a slog fest so that you'd want to pay to bypass the boring grind. It's total bullshit to see some console games trying to implement a similar thing, while still charging an upfront $40 or $60.
Gradually marching towards intentionally incorporating more and more boring grinds into games in order to get you to spend money to bypass it obviously sounds like total garbage.
