Nobodies saying it's not cool. People are saying that he shouldn't claim to be "better than Skrillex." Not only is it completely incorrect, but it sounds extremely arrogant, and even obnoxious to a certain extent. What he made isn't that impressive either. The hardest part would probably just be making the drums themselves, and it's honestly a waste of time when you have launchpads that do even more than these things do. Sure, it's fun to watch, I'm not trying to say he's not good, I'm just saying he shouldn't claim that he's better than a high level producer when there are people who just do launchpad covers on youtube for fun that are better than him.

I also bought native instruments massive on black friday for 99€ instead of 199€.

Don't get me wrong, I think this takes some skill and sounds great, but I hate the fact that these jitterclickers and live drum remixers are titling their videos "Skrillex better than Skrillex". This guy is just "drumming" samples from an already fully produced Skrillex track. This is a remix plan and simple. It's not better than Skrillex just because it's sampled out and played "live" on a glorified drumpad.
Go for a title like 'Skrillex better than Skrillex' = half a million + views and bookings worldwide.

+Sebase Fernandez It's called an electric drumkit. You can do this with ANY of the hardware made by Roland, Yamaha , Aleseis, or even Simmons. this is really nothing new. this guy just added some LCD's to regular electric drumpads.

+AFISHAL Still not a DJ tho ;) You might have found a more entertaining way of achieving the same goal as a DJ (playing EDM) but that doesn't make you a DJ :P That's the same as programming pop-vocals to come out of your drums and claiming you're a singer :P
If I decide to start playing soccer with my hands I'm not a soccer player either, but a rugby player with a round ball :P So you're a 'performing drummer', not a DJ... DJ stands for Disc Jockey, and I don't see you 'jocking' any discs ;)
That being said, the reputation of DJ's in general is getting worse and worse lately on account of using prerecorded mixes etc. If you believe what you're developing is better/more entertaining and takes more/real skill to pull off, why would you even wanna be compared to DJ's? ;) Just develop your own category/name for it (audio-visual entertainer? E-Drummer? just from the top of my head :P ) and try to put that on the map ;)
Thank you for you comment. DJ'ing as i'm sure you know is now no longer joking disks for many, loads use mp3's, Serato, MPC's etc. Technically very few are still technically DJ's. Its now a very broad term.

Why is everyone saying it's fake? It so isn't and it's amazing! Obviously won't be 'as good as the original' because it's a remake in it's own design, which makes it awesome! You can't compare the songs when they are different.... I have a feeling that all these commentators are children... I would much prefer this than a pad I mean that's so more immersive! British Gaming piano is a percussion instrument too, and also I bet you haven't played drums so don't you even compare them, 1st off, a drum is more important than a piano when playing, 2nd off, drums can be heavy as fk, 3rd off, we can't afford to mess up or the ret of the band could go down with us, 4th off, we only have 2 drumsticks you have 10 fingers, 5th off, you get to sit down, 6th off, drumrolls are hard af, 7th off, (band wise) you can't only play drums you have to play the glockenspiel , tambourine, marimba, timpani, (if you want piano too) , etc... so there is alot we have to learn, 8th off, there no matter what will be anoying classmates, 9th off, we get our instruments last, 10th off, marching with a huge af drum on you, 11th off, we have to hold drum sticks a sertant way, 12th off, parididdles, 13th off, bounce rolls, 14th off, matching heights of your drum stick bounce with you classmates (who are still completely dumb and are over exaggerating their bounce ), 15th off, the pain in our fingers hurt like h€||, 16th off, dumb classmates in general, 17th off, parididdles (yes they are so bad their included twice), 18th off, late to the next class everyday because it takes forever to put up, 19th off, doing 15 pushups every time you drop your sticks, 20th off, people like you who say its easy!!!!!!!!!!

You've played both? I mean that'd be nice and all since your comparison would be justified then but if someone with no musical experience were to see them side by side they'd say Piano is harder because there's more keys to remember. But with drums you have to hit it a certain way and such and with piano it doesn't matter much how you press the keys. But they're also usually used for different genres. I personally associate piano with classical music and drums with rock music. But that's just me. Drums are versatile in usage and piano is as well, but it's generally not used in a versatile fashion.
Looking at it as if they were the same shape, though, imagine a drum set with like 20 more drums. That'd be a piano, from the inexperienced person's eyes.
But the actually viable points are not in classmates, it's about the actual instruments.

So glad we have the internet because when I was growing up, we didn't have UA-cam as a medium for people to get their work out there. Anzio RS I mean, kinda. Someone can easily cut and paste notes like Skrillex does. One of his songs orbits around a youtube video about breaking a world record for cup stacking. He uses the audio from that. In fact, most of his stuff is just copy/pasted. You can find millions of tracks that do this and sound better.
Making beats sound awesome in the program he uses it pretty easy. People do the same thing all around the internet but they can do it on the fly (launchpad). A launchpad is so much harder than using a computer and a day+ of time like Skrillex.
The only difference between Skrillex and others was that his "band" payed money to get noticed at the start, then he split and did his own thing taking his ounce of fame far enough to get notice as an up-and-coming artist.
Skrillex in terms of UA-cam would be compiling a list of clips from other UA-camrs and posting them as your own. Not all from one person, spread it out, but don't give them credit, as they didn't make the video. That is Skrillex.

If the video were titled "Skrillex's Bangerang played on custom Launchpad Drumset", there'd be no call for people to say one performer is better. But the video is called "SKRILLEX BETTER THAN SKRILLEX 2 - AFISHAL", which is a pretty big claim for a guy who covered a dubstep song and left out the _entire_ bass synth track. So yeah, people will disagree.

However you're correct, no new technology involved, I've just created a new visual way to perform and remix music :) The circuit boards are my original design but they're not even worth patenting...someone will find a way round it if they really wanted to.

This is a launchpad in the form of drums. Like the buttons were taken off and made to be like drums. How do you do that
I honestly feel like the other electronic artists should have to work this hard live to perform their music, lol. Not to say that some of them don't, but let's be honest, most of the time they are just pushing a few buttons, turning a few knobs, and are basically just getting paid to stand in front of a crowd.
What people need to understand is... They don't ONLY get paid from shows. Most of them are really good at PRODUCING music and deserve fame. Only few actually show skill at a performance tho

I agree that the fame/money should be given for talent, whether the artist has a good live show or not (although live shows are what pays most artists anymore)... the point though was that it would be nice for electronic artists to do more at their shows than dance and smoke cigarettes, lol. The Prodigy is a good example of how it can be done.

+Damien 26k any kind of midi controller. can be a key board, drum pad or even your computer keyboard can be a trigger for midi notes.
