I live in Washington State, moved here from the Midwest the one thing I really miss is the heavy down pours. We have rain but it's more like a steady soft rain. I miss the rain like this, I love driving in the rain.
It makes a big difference that this is a night drive. Reminds me some of long drives on interstates, as a passenger. Very relaxing.

Oh yes me too! I'm 38 and since I was a little girl I've always loved the rainy, stormy days and nights better than those blue sunny days everyone else is programmed to like better.

There is something ssooo satisfying about being in a car (even parked up with a blanket pulled round you) and torrential rain outside. What really makes it up is a cat sitting on your lap (hoping that you do not chuck it out until the rain is over.)

I love your rain videos! When I'm having to get through a lot of grading, it's wonderful having this on in the background. I'd love to join you on one of your rain rides! Maybe have something like James Corden's carpool, except your passengers just sit back and soak in the rainfall around Austin.

This is fantastic, I am definitely bookmarking this to return to. Okay, though I generally hate UA-cam comments or commenting, I am asking for it I suppose, yes, all the mean "get a life, loser" reactions this comment WILL elicit - ! But I will go ahead with it anyway . So, not ONLY did I listen to this, I watched it. Yes, I did. And will no doubt return to it. I turned off the room light and amped the sound and just sat, pretending I was the passenger, or, just for giggles, pretended I was driving (and actually worried a bit if I got distracted by the signs and almost missed braking for the red light). At one point I felt like Janet Leigh in Hitchcock's "Psycho," finding herself in a downpour as she flees Phoenix. Other times I imagined I was myself or maybe a 1950's dad seeking a motel during a really long road trip (enhanced by opening a UA-cam playlist of appropriate "driving tunes" and playing them simultaneously). A couple of times the lighting flashes were so cool I had to rewind and play them in slow motion. I loved trying to read the signs. I could imagine sitting with someone in the dark watching this on a hi-def widescreen and playing out all the above scenarios as well (finding patient, like minded folk might be tricky, but I am an artist, and know other artists, who know other artists, so there are a lot of eccentrics in the mix). I just love that this is in real time, not just a still image with the sound looped, but ACTUAL, with variations in storm intensity, lighting, and actual-time, cool visuals we might take for granted if really driving in this situation. It really engages the imagination. Perhaps a series of driving through many major cities at night, rain or no rain, would be awesome. Limitless possibilities with this! Thanks so much for posting and changing the face of "sound for sleep" vids!

I remember those rains of 2015 very well. I was driving nights in the oilfields in south Texas in the Victoria region hauling crude oil. It was a little scary at times being alone at some remote tank battery with all that lightning.
I hate to think that the police scene with the flood lights at 7:41 there on LAMAR BLVD just before 29th street was a dead body in the road. I know without a doubt it was. Not trying to put a damper (no pun intended) on the video but I can't help but notice that since my late wife was killed on Steck Ave by a hit and run driver back in July of '08. Left in the middle road to die. HER NAME WAS LINDA KAYE LOVE O'BRYAN. Her killer has never been caught. She was walking home from work late in the evening from the Walgreen's at MESA and Spicewood Springs going to the Terricina Apartments near Luby's on MOPAC. She was a BEAUTY ADVISOR and CASHIER. I was trucking OTR in the NE.

i drove to monticello ny in the 70s ididnt have money for a motel so i slept in my car it started to rain inever had a better nights sleep since even now when we go to atlantic city we sleep in the car if its raining rather than drive home in it
