I've played a long save into the future. I usually vacation and I can tell you that there's an unbelievable difference between delegating all transfers vs only buys and no sells. The DoF, regardless of how many times I fire them, ends up selling the shop to only have 11-15 players. It seems the DoF feels obligated to negotiate every offer. With high negotiation, that'll be successful so if a player is wanted, he's gone and only good players are wanted. Over time the players degrade as the AI avoids exceptional signings (they want the player to have the pleasure of doing that). Even in my latest job in the save, the 50 years at Dortmund so far, that minor change allowed us to re challenge for titles without having to manage games. We were a mid table to relegation team as the tiny squad lost legs halfway through the season. Thanks for attending my Ted Talk.
@@poiuytrewq1553 I knew and experienced that AI DoFs are horrible at squad building. But I never understood why. Do you have any insight into why the AI replaces sold players with others who are about 60% of the ability/reputation/potential? Also Re: the need to negotiate. Does the AI not differentiate between being a DoF at a rich dominant club like Bayern, and at an efficient "selling" club like say Brighton or Bologna?
@@Davidbaratunk thanks for your interest! Context: I'm a fm 21 player and got fm24 when it came out for free. Played a save till I was 80 and ready to retire but FM25 got delayed. With a vengeance, I played this save on. I only managed top flight teams but in all phases of their cycles from relegation to mid table to champion teams but only top flight. I haven't actually played a match day in a while as the game is buggy coz of the length of save. I won the 6th of the top 6 leagues at Arsenal and was ready to retire when I noticed in 2070s Man United hadn't won a league or UCL since Sir Alex. That's how the save went on as I bid to change that. To answer you, I think when you start a save some hard coded number is sampled for each team off a range. That number determines how "smart" a team will be regardless of who the DoF. I went to United for about 50 years and doubled their entire trophy cabinet along with rebuilding OT and having them name the new stadium after me. This was a very successful era winning 24 leagues and 4 UCLs. I left to Madrid for about 10 years. During this time United were back to being a mid table to lower European team in a short few years. It's like 50 years worth of culture evaporated. I went back and won them the league and UCL and another 50 years later and they're back to mediocrity. The signings by DoF were always bang average and overpriced. So a realistic Manchester United experience. That's why I moved to Dortmund and began messing with getting best vs worst staff and make no signings but none of that made the same difference as simply disabling sales. There's always going to be an element of the AI not being perfect as that would make the player kinda redundant. And this strategy doesn't not work at all with lower league teams.
i think this idea could be very good for tactical guides. Like keep the wheel, keep the changes every half year. But instead of just leaving the tactic as it is, you should like adapt tactics to the changes. Like you got 2 WBs as IFBs and then u change ur IFs to Wingers and etc. It could really help players to understand roles and the releations between them, and also show how to adapt tactics for certain players they have.
Stinger - For two Raumdeuters, an Enganche was a blessing in disguise. The Enganche is a focus role, demanding the ball, this means either the DM or a DC has to mark him or at least track him. So he'll tend to come to between the centre line and the box, move laterally side to side, and just one-touch pass to the other 5 players you have moving around him into the gaps that the "assigned marker" has left open. It's not him specifically that's the nightmare to defend, it's what he facilitates that's the nightmare for defences..... opposition back line gets pulled from pillar to post. Best decision I made was making Pedri of all people an offset enganche, with an AF, CM(A) and W running around him. Whilst he didn't get many 1st assists, when you watch the highlights of goals, he's the one making that one touch little "dink" that just removes defenders like they were never there anyway. Combine that with playing Joelinton as a WTM on the opposite side, with an NCB feeding him to then combine with the Enganche and well...... "disgusting" would be a good word haha
@StingerNeilD how about all roles are on the wheel, at the start you roll 11 times to decide what you have to create something with. You could do rerolls at intervals of your choosing too...
Put all 92 English clubs on the wheel. You have to make a prem team by choosing a player from each club you land on? Could do it with clubs from 5 different leagues of your choice on the wheel forca different challenge tbf too.
Love the vids ! So helpful !! Can you try a 2 at the back, wing backs and a half back. I’ve tried it with my Derby save but I doesn’t work well. I’m trying to make an attacking and control possession team. Also, can you do a control possession tactic please

great video. a similar idea could be to only put team instructions on the wheel. set them all to meta at the start and each spin takes one off or set to neutral. as poiuytrewq1553 said having the dof as buy only is essential. not changing formation or player roles will give a better idea of just how good each meta instruction is
I don't know. This is just generally what people use, as attacking as it gets so on attack they act more like wingers. All guess work though 🤷 I prefer support in my saves
My guy finally used Raumdeuters but benched and then sold the man behind the role (Thomas Muller)
I blame the DOF

You make a good point with your player not getting 'direct assists' a lot of people play on key highlights so they miss the 'pre-assist'

Start a save by fire ALL staff and personnel and only use the youth intake as new ‘signings’….
Can you recreate a tactic for Union Berlin to win the title? Never won it since 08/09 would love it same tactic or yours what you come up with ?
Another inspired gimmick! Absolutely loving these 👌
Thank you Ben 👍
this was an awesome idea, keep it up!
Thanks!
As a Dortmund fan, seeing us winning after selling Moukoko and Brandt makes me giggle.

It's s not so much on the managerial changes but more on the director of football.
The first tactic is very usefull for me, i'm managing Bayern.
Thanks!

Hopefully that gets improved
