My Kurt/Nirvana playlist • Kurt Cobain, Nirvana, ...
Kurt Donald Cobain (February 20, 1967 - c. April 5, 1994) was an American singer, songwriter and artist. He was the guitarist, lead vocalist and primary songwriter of the rock band Nirvana. Through his angst-fueled songwriting and anti-establishment persona, Cobain's compositions widened the thematic conventions of mainstream rock. He was heralded as a spokesman of Generation X and is considered one of the most influential musicians in the history of alternative rock.
Cobain formed Nirvana with Krist Novoselic and Aaron Burckhard in 1987 and established it as part of the Seattle music scene that later became known as grunge. After signing with major label DGC Records, Nirvana found global success with "Smells Like Teen Spirit" from their critically acclaimed second album Nevermind (1991). Although Cobain was hailed as the voice of his generation following Nirvana's sudden success, he resented this, believing his message and artistic vision had been misinterpreted by the public. In addition to "Smells Like Teen Spirit", Cobain wrote many other notable songs for Nirvana, including "Come as You Are", "Lithium", "In Bloom", "Something in the Way", "Heart-Shaped Box", "All Apologies", "About a Girl", "Aneurysm", and "You Know You're Right".
In late 1986, Cobain moved into an apartment, paying his rent by working at the Polynesian Resort, a themed resort on the Pacific coast at Ocean Shores, Washington approximately 20 miles (32 km) west of Aberdeen. During this period, he traveled frequently to Olympia, Washington, to go to rock concerts. During his visits to Olympia, Cobain formed a relationship with Tracy Marander. Their relationship was close, but strained by financial problems and Cobain's absence when touring. Marander supported the couple by working at the cafeteria of the Boeing plant in Auburn, Washington, often stealing food. Cobain spent most of his time sleeping into the late evening, watching television, and concentrating on art projects. Marander's insistence that he get a job caused arguments that influenced Cobain to write the song "About a Girl", which appeared on the Nirvana album Bleach; Marander is credited with having taken the cover photo for the album. She did not become aware that Cobain wrote "About a Girl" about her until years after his death.
The unassuming house at 114 Pear St NE was erected around 1914 and is a triplex, with two apartments on the street and a small third apartment in the rear. Musician Kurt Cobain lived in this house between 1989 and 1991 and, according to sources, wrote about 75% of his total lifetime output here. The house has become a Mecca for Nirvana, Cobain, and grunge fans, although it is not inventoried or marked in any way. Nirvana’s first hit, “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” was inspired by graffiti written on the wall of this apartment by Bikini Kill artist Kathleen Hanna. - Розваги
Kurt's been gone so long it almost seems like another lifetime ago seeing this really feels like a time capsule from a forgotten era.
Yep 27 years ago that's time for a family to be made kurt was such a spiritual person everything he touched turned to a legend
Kurt may be gone, but his legacy is still living among us.
Thanks Scott, much appreciated❤️
Yes I agree,Kurt Cobain a true legacy,a legend
I think you and Kurt would be hilarious talking to each other being sarcastic and quick witted ;)
Boy, you got the the V.I.P. privilege pass of a lifetime. How lucky you are. Great video! You are the real deal!😎😁
Olympia will always hold a special place in my heart. Nice to see her again.
I just learned on my guitar how to play Smells like teen spirit. 🎸
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Very cool! The spot he restrang his guitars...pretty damn cool 😎 👌
Kurt and Nirvana forever. Thanks for sharing Scott.
I’ll never get tired watching this video.
Me as well for I still love Nirvana's music and KURT Cobain- too this day! May he rest in peace ...💗🤘
Yay!!!! Thank you for all of these incredible NIRVANA video's...I've seen an loved um all!
More coming !
I bet he was most happy there with his friends. That moment just before they made it big but still innocent of the realities. Life was simple and uncomplicated. No worries just good times with friends. If people could look back and hold on to a moment it would be something like that.
Hindsight being 20/20. I'm willing to bet they were practicing to one day be able to move on to bigger and better things.... which he did. Just couldn't handle it.
No worries, simpler Times lol! Kurt was always worried about how to become noticed and weather or not to quit The Band altogether. If it wasn't for their cheap offer of $600. from Sub Pop Records I wouldn't be surprised if Kurt just said let's forget this Music thing.
I've always wondered how far Kurt could have went if he hadn't been taken so young not only in his life but his career, he would've been still going strong without a doubt, very talented young man.. #NIRVANA ✌ thank you for the short walk around today, keep em coming, we're all watching.. hugs from wisconsin ❤
Thank you Regina !

I’d love to see their practice room set-up with instruments 🎸 🥁 in the (probable) layout, where did the drums go, who was facing who? Etc.
Watching this video now kurt rocks and so does this channel
This was a wonderful video
Kurt Cobain & Nirvana ignited grunge/alternative music and created some incredible songs. In the intro I heard Something in the Way, which is one of my favorites. Thanks for giving us a glimpse into his early career/life.
Mother Love Bone started it, but Andy OD'd before the albums release.
Omg that's so cool.
Scott on tape My guy! Lets go!
Just him there in that little apartment and not knowing that one day they would be the biggest band in the world. It's too surreal.
great video Scott
Love Kurt Love Scott Gen X Forever! You never fail to make me feel the places you're gracious enough to show us.💯💙

Hi Scott! Awesome thanks for doing what you do you are absolutely the best UA-camr and I appreciate all of the hard work you do you Absolutely Rock Scott 💞💯💯
Thank You Scott! If you only knew what Kurt Cobain meant to me. I battled addiction for 15 years and I was lucky to get off the stuff and get clean, been clean 6 yrs now. Anyway, I can relate to him and the music in so many ways. I listen to Nirvana on a daily basis especially when I'm going through a rough patch in life. His music speaks to me just like all his other fans. With that being said, thank you for all the Nirvana videos that you have done I rewatch them often. Seattle and all of Kurt's stomping grounds are on my bucket list. If all plays out I'll be going that way in January or February.
Love this Scott! I could watch this all day
This was so awesome. I love love love Nirvana. I still have my ticket stub from 1993 when I saw them in concert.
Hello there Scott when I was writing down my comments to your Video about Kurt Cobain you like my Comment and you left comment I don't see it.
JFC! 🙀
How has it been THREE years already...? It seems like just last year!
The photos of Kurt with cats, have always been my favorite. 😻
* Supposedly Kurt said he liked cats over dogs because they don't care about anything that they don't find worth their time.
Same Kurt, SAME!!!! 💙
I want to stay there SOOO much. Hard to believe it's been that long already since your first stay. Kurt with the kitten on his arm is one of my favorite photos of him. Can't wait to see what else you have up your sleeve for us! Miss you always, Kurt. 🎶🐈💜
👋 Scott how cool is Kurt Cobain's house is looking forward to seeing more about him. 🌹✌️
Awesome video Scott! Love these pictures of Kurt before everything started really happening for them. I know they could’ve never imagined how much of an influence on music they would be.. they changed everything. I think it’s so cool for you to be able to stand in the actual places that he stood..hang out between those four walls where a part of music history was written. Thanks for taking us with you!

Awesome Scott. Thank you so much. As much of a Kurt Cobain fan as I am,when I lived in Seattle I never went to Olympia or Aberdeen for the experience you got and get. I wish I did, that was 2002 when I lived in Seattle and I worked in the university district by layne staley's condo.
