To add to the freedom of expression in AoS vs 40k - when i was first in the hobby in the 90s I recall 3e Space Marines being Scouts, Tactical Squads, Assault Squads, Devestator Squads and Terminators. They each had distinct character and a defined role. I think they struggle even with Primaris to try and innovate. Like you've now got Scouts but also Eliminators. Terminators but also Aggressors... Bladeguard Veterans, Sternguard Veterans... Intercessors, HEAVY intercessors... Devestators, Eradicators... Assault Intercessors, Jump Pack Intercessors... it all smacks of there being no new ideas but being told "hey that sculpt you've made is really cool we need to find a way to fit it in!" I never get the sense with AoS (barring maybe Fyreslayers, but i think that's largely all gingers looking the same and yes i'm going in the book) that there's models being announced that don't have a defined role and place within their lore and armies.
I mean, when GW TRIES, 40k models look amazing. All the Primarchs, the Greater Deamons, Riptides, etc. It's just we have a superior product right over there, waving at us, made by GW as well.
well we have had some major fails for 40K, but also some really nice ones. tbh it feels like some of the 40k team just don't like 40k but work there anyways producing shit and not knowing anything about the faction of the model/rules they are making, while the AoS team feels dedicated wanting to make the best they can.
AoS sculpts have been consistently amazing for the past couple of years. Most 40k factions wear power armour so the majority of the range hits a ceiling pretty quickly.
I agree with Liam about the custodes thing. I dont have a problem with them making it a new thing especially if its done in a cool tasteful way with some narrative to support the change. Telling us its always been like that is like a crappy way of lying to your fanbase.
I hear what you are saying regarding contraints for 40k models, but think about avatar of khaine and abbidon the despoiler. Previous metal models that got a great re-work. So, I think GW need to go away and have a good look at themselves when it comes to their design and sculpting team for 40k vs AoS.
For me, aesthetically, fantasy looks better but nothing wrong with the vast majority of NON SM models. I know people who play 40k who aren't into the aesthetics of the fantasy setting of AoS. I personally can't stand 1/2 of the models in AoS aesthetically. Some gorgeous centerpiece models in AoS but 40k has them as well with Angron and Mortarion
The negativity from 40K youtubers seems to have gone up a level with click baiting and dramatic topics to get views. Not sure this is helping and could drive people away from game which then helps to kill their channel. Not saying 10th edition should be sugar coated but have some balance
New Death company is lazy and forcing you to buy an upgrade spru is dumb. Idk why people are so excited for intercessors with red X's on the shoulder pads.
Aos models for the most part are more detailed, more veriaty, 40k bikes like space marines are just blocky and look square, and dreadnought are cool as the big walking coffin robots, but they are really plain looking especially compared to aos, those are both kinda plain and square not mutch veriaty or detail to them

kislux versace bag is so cute
My mom bought one kislux and she loves it. It had been there for over 10 years when she went out with it.

all the greater deamons are actualy AoS models (they got realese alongside the AoS battletomes) they just give them 40k rules

Old Forgeworld unique chapter models are better than current 40k variants. Salamanders fire drakes and pyroclasts

40K lore has gone stale! So they are stuck with the same models, where as AOS has more of a scope with their model range!
Lemartes looks bad lol. Coteaz looks worse
Does AoS have bikes, tatars or dreadnoughts? No, well then AoS doesn't have good looking models.
AoS has better models overall.

Let’s stop comparing. It isn’t even close.
