I play Dokapon Kingdom with 3 other friends. And lemme tell you, this shit is exactly what happened in our previous run. We didn't play for a year. We just restarted a run last week and our Dokapon group-Whatsapp is banging, waiting to continue our next session. I just shared this video in there. Can't wait for their reactions 😂
just had this happen to me in the switch version, but rico now spawns as a random encounter as soon as u rescue penny from him in chapter 4 instead of after bringing her back and starting chapter 5
My game softlocked at the end of this chapter when one player rescued Penny, their turn ended with them exiting the cave where she was taken so the player was on the overworld board and at the entrance space to the cave. Another player killed them with an item, and Penny was left at that space where you enter the cave. If any player landed on that space, they wouldn’t be able to get Penny to follow them because they would go into the cave instead. Penny was stranded on the overworld board and the story could never progress from there ever again.
@@TheShiningEnergy If you do that, at the end of your turn, the last thing the game does is move your character from the cave board to the overworld board, and then immediately moves to the next player’s turn. It doesn’t recognize that it just moved you to the space that Penny is on. Then at the start of your next turn, it just gives you the normal start-of-turn prompt to spin, use an item, view the map, etc. Again, there’s no recognition that you’re standing on the space that Penny is on. There’s no way to rescue her, it’s a softlock.
@@TheShiningEnergy It is. Honestly it’s an oversight by the devs. They probably never thought of what would happen if someone with Penny died from an item while at a cave entrance space.
Rico Jr. can show up as a random encounter on yellow spaces after beating him in Chapter 4... But there's conflicting info on when he starts showing up.
Tbf it’s not entirely impossible for this to happen organically since it’s a relatively normal response to a threat of a darkling showing up soon to try to get as far away from the dark space as possible. You leave the cave after gaining the wings and then a person gains the ability to change into a darkling and while they are heading to the dark space you book it towards dauntless mountain ( perhaps delaying them with a spell or 2 ) since the castle in the sky is the only place a darkling can not chase you but you aren’t actually strong enough to handle the stuff in the castle in the clouds. And your plan to wait it out in the castle backfires in the worst way possible.
As someone who has played the Connect version, let me assure you he STILL drops the Angel Wings in his Chapter 4 boss fight. I just wanted to take Penny back to the Castle before exploring their use, not knowing about this soft-lock.
Well now that we are getting a Dokapon Kingdom for the switch do you think this will still happen in the new game? I mean Now with the online features If story mode is available this could be a real cheap way to troll and piss off other players.
You're likely thinking of the Angel Choker. Angel Wings, as far as I'm aware, are drop-only, and I can't find anything proving any of the three kinds of treasure spaces can provide Angel Wings
@@DokaponLibrary yeah that’s right, I just double checked and found that daunting mountain has a higher chance to spawn Rico jr for the wings, but that’s only after you take the princes back.
I wonder how the AI functions if you do this? Do they just completely give up on completing the objective and go straight for your throat at all times?
This comment got me curious, so I did some testing on the switch version, and as it turns out, the ai will futility try to get to Penny, even though I have the angel wings. This was done with normal ai on the most recent patch, though, so I wonder if the weak or sneaky cpus will do that as well
You know this not true, after you defeat Rico jr, you can encounter him again and on the 3rd floor of the daunting mauntin the chance is even higher so chances are slimmer but not softlocked
Imagine how furious Jon would be if this happened on TRG

How was their reactions?
*Alchemist has left the chat*
"Why are you so mad? It was just a prank!"
The prank in question:
Joseph has a great voice for this. Love the editing!

I could have swore that in Chapter 4 I was able to find Rico Jr. Immediately after defeating him and before returning penny :/
Can't wait for someone to perform this grief in an online game and somehow get the game saved after
This was very well done! I love me some Dokapon Kingdom!!
Found my new favorite channel
I need more videos like this.

Couldn't you just exit the cave? you'd be on the space where Penny is.

Me, a chaotic evil: I hope this isn't patched in the Switch release
I wonder if the remake will fix this softlock
It didn't lol
alchemist be like : are you sure about that?

This softlock is even more likely because the Angel wings are a 84.5% drop rate.
Oh god, imagine taking the demolition guy here and then dying.
It would be possible to get another angel wings at that point to retrieve him.
Interesting!
I wonder how they adress this for connect. probably the simplest option is to just deny rico from dropping the wings on the first defeat.

I feel like this was accounted for, and now if that happens, Penny will stand at the entrance space of Castle in the Sky. That's what I think tho
My guess is Rico will spawn randomly at any point after defeat, personally.
I know this is 8 months old video, but correct me if I'm wrong

Fortunately, this softlock will never actually happen, as a random ninja will always insta-kill you with Death Poke long before you reach the summit.
Don’t enemies on daunting mountain have a chance to drop angel wings? I feel like i read this somewhere
Rico Jr. is the only monster that is able to drop the Angel Wings.
