In the US, Z31's have single overhead cams (2 total, one per head) while the Z32's have dual overhead cams (4 total, 2 per head). One Z31 model in Japan had the DOHC engine. "Twin Cam" is label used for DOHC 4 cylinder engines (2 cams total as there's only one head).
Generally speaking, stage 1 = intake, stage 2 = exhaust, stage 3 = ECU / increased boost. There are other stages (I've seen lists go up to 18 stages) but generally Stage 3 is as high as you can get before you need to upgrade the fuel system to allow for bigger turbos and/or NOS
Where did you get them fender flares at? I'm doing work to my Z this year and painting it a purple metallic /black theme. I have an 88' 300ZX non-turbo automatic. I've been dieing on where to get flares like that at.
The popoff valve is the thing that sticks out on the passenger side of the manifold towards the front of the car. You'll want to yank that thing out and put in the plug the NA cars have in its place
Just make sure the computer will work with the injectors you are using. I myself use a 88 turbo BIN file on my programmable ECU with my 87 turbo. It's a bit more dangerous since the timing is more aggressive but so far I haven't had any problems.
hey i got an 86 turbo and was wondering if you have your ECU tuned at all for 10psi. Also did you adjust the pop-off valve or just buy an aftermarket one? ' Nice z
Those numbers could have been higher. Technically if you strap down a car, it can yield better numbers. Still great numbers though. I'm so eager to turbo my na.
I know this is random...those are 17's right...if so just curious on tire size...I have a set of eagle alloy mustang replicas and they are 17s...I already have. 245/45/17 on the rear just concerned about front...all four are 9 in wide
is it really safe to run 10psi unintercooled? i am about to get a 300zx turbo '87 and i am putting a MBC on mine too and I don't want to blow it up. how long have you/did you drive it at that?

I was worried about the music covering the audio. Thanks for letting us hear the engine!
damn dude that car looks beautiful
I use to have on just like this, same color paintand all, got more complements on that car then anything else I've ever owned
Holy crap! Good to know that all I need to do is raise my boost and install exhaust to make 245whp :)
nice car. damn i need to get my z31 running!!!
wow, really good numbers actually

@HOTSOUPP1 If you want to raise the boost pressure past stock, you must replace it with a plug. Otherwise, there is no reason to remove it.
It's located on the intake manifold, passenger side, towards the front of the plenum
Yes it was. On a subsequent visit I did a 4th gear pull and got a couple of HP less. So it doesn't seem to make much difference with this car.

Yes this is with the stock turbo

You won't need to tune the ECU for 10 PSI. I took off the pop-off valve and replaced it with the plug the NA cars have in its place.
damn thats not bad at all man
thx man
The 88's and 89's have the T25
good numbers

@NYCZ31 Well would i need a new boost gauge? and i havent been able to get a blow off at all.

Quick question are these twin cam or single cam cus i no that the later models which are quad cam, people classify them as twin cam?
@NYCZ31 what exactly is a pop off valve or is it just overboost protection?

are you boosting off the stock turbo? I got an 86 turbo with a three inch piping aswell.
Now i have a 87 tt Turbo, why should i take off the emergence valve?
i have an 86 turbo where is the pop off valve located?
sorry do you have a front mount intercooler?
and fmic
