My former Sheffield Hallam Tutor Greg Boulton (late of Aardman Animations, with credits on animations like Sledgehammer and the Oscar winning Creature Comforts short) worked on "Temporary Postman Pratt". I remember he told us about the team on the sketch getting a phone call from one Ivor Wood, telling them it was the funniest thing he'd ever seen.
Oh and also I sang a song too when I was younger about Jess being run over and it went... Postman Pat, Postman Pat, Postman Pat ran over his cat... Blood and guts went flying poor old Pat was crying never seen a cat that looks like that.... feels really awful thinking back to it now tho lol
I am surprised you done the review for this even though I don't watch spitting image I do find this sketch funny and I told that to my best mate and he was laughing silly
Another parody, also involving the cat getting run over was Bobby Davro’s Postman Pete. That’s on here as well and takes a more direct swipe at what Royal Mail could be like on bad days. Nowadays it would be about Mrs Goggins getting five years because of Horizon.
There's also a similar sketch on an Australian show called comedy Inc the sketches called Bodgy Builder it is a parody of Bob the Builder and I'll main character does things which the real Bob the Builder would never do
This sketch was funny Simon. Fun Fact: “The Viz Comic (an adult version of The Dandy and The Beano Comics) had a strip called Postman Pratt. (I know because my dad used to read the comic and he told me about it).”
Xmas 1987 Special (I think), but it wasn't BBC it was ITV. I legit knew the entirety of Thatcher's Cabinet by name as an infant coz I thought it was a kids puppet show lol
Postman Pratt had a horrible work ethic and was rude and lazy unlike Pat who was hard working, friendly and helpful... spitting image also parodied Thomas too and was a funny tv show
I think the parody you mention went like this: Postman Pat Postman Pat Postman Pat ran over his cat All the guts went flying Postman Pat was crying Last line can be either 1) Between you and me he’s a very unhappy man 2) Never seen a cat as flat as that 3) The RSPCA took Jess away
I know it sounds funny, but it's not... In fact, there are people who throw away letters to be delivered in Japan. (recent case: a delivery worker at the Mihara Post Office threw away about 7,000 postcards and sealed letters that were to be delivered in a wooded area)

Dalek44
Spitting Image was an ITV show.
I’m glad someone finally made a review for this.
Just hope that it won’t be the only one on UA-cam.
It was ITV that made Spitting Image.
I had no idea Spitting Image made this skit given they're best known for political satire and using puppets.
I watched Postman pat growing up on Video Tapes
Oh and also I sang a song too when I was younger about Jess being run over and it went...
Postman Pat, Postman Pat, Postman Pat ran over his cat...

Postman Pratt Is Postman Pat’s long lost dead brother but pat loves his wife and kid so he doesn’t care but pat will find his brother someday

Do you think thay will make a remake of it ?
This sketch was funny Simon. Fun Fact: “The Viz Comic (an adult version of The Dandy and The Beano Comics) had a strip called Postman Pratt. (I know because my dad used to read the comic and he told me about it).”
WRONG. The Viz character was called Postman PLOD.
I still Don’t Know why they did this to one of My Childhood Favourites
Postman pat is a gangster
I had heard about this. I didn't like it when I first saw it. But it does have it's funny sides.

Jasper carrott sang a song about temporary postman pat years ago 😂
I think the parody you mention went like this:
Postman Pat
Postman Pat
Postman Pat ran over his cat
All the guts went flying
Postman Pat was crying
Last line can be either
1) Between you and me he’s a very unhappy man
2) Never seen a cat as flat as that
