    I have printed some 20kg of the petg hf, and I believe the less messy process is the biggest advantage compared to the old bambu petg basic. Much less prone to stick to the nozzle and lower risk to mess up long prints.

      @kylequinn1963 15 днів тому +1

      I think the biggest issue is that you're basically compromising on the benefits of PETG in terms of ductility. That said, the PETG-HF seems to be basically PLA but with a 69c temp resistance vs PLA at like 35 lol

    • @Makeringedients
      @Makeringedients 15 днів тому +1

      @@kylequinn1963 You have a point here and yes the HF isn't only upsides. I would be happy if I could find a PETG that didn't spontaneously ruin prints due to filament sticking to the nozzle. Especially sensitive are larger high detail print jobs of 100h+ with 0,2mm nozzle.

    Honestly the Bambu refillable spool system makes it worthwhile for me. Better spools. Less waste. Cheaper filament.

    Thanks. I learned that Filaments with a lot of extras like Matt Finish, High Flow etc gets more brittle and doesnt have the same performance than the ones without these. Thats why i use the cheap Amazon Basic PETG with slow speed or ABS/ASA. Yep it doesn't look fancy like with a Matt finish but for most functional parts its enough.

    Thanks for the comparison, I was really curious if there was any big differences between the two. It seems like really it comes down to sheen and colors. Bambu's PETG HF has more of the colors I like to use for my own items so I'll stick to that for most things. I just grabbed a bunch during the sale so I'm set for a while. The lake blue is really nice.
    Congrats on the channel growth and the new printers! 🍻

    • @TheMountainMaker

      The only issue I’ve had is the Bambu seems to be more loose so the filament is able to move around a bit more when compared to the Elegoo, which is more tightly wound and even so sometimes it will get caught if you aren’t careful when mounting it on the reusable spools.

    Another cool video. These are so close it would boil down to how they look. I like the less glossy appearance of the bambu. Right or wrong I pick a lot filament based on color. I find some manufacturers colors are kind of washed out. Strength has not been much of a factor as of yet but the more I get into this I am sure I will become more of a concern so the information in this video will come in handy. Cheers from the 802!

    • @TheMountainMaker
      @TheMountainMaker  16 днів тому +1

      Once the inventory has been delivered, it will go through processing and should become available shortly after that. I know i usually plan for around 3 weeks from the time i send stuff in, but that can also depend on where you are sending it and how much product you have. Stuff should be available to purchase at this point, but you won’t see the prime delivery tags and dates until it has been fully processed and accepted. My last delivery was prime ready in just under 3 weeks.

    I've had no issues with the Elegoo Petg rapid here in Australia (besides their shitty shipping) for me its way better than the new bambu stuff and $10 cheaper per role. Sure its not as flexible but i use the pro version when i need flexibility and for me there's not a huge time difference on the X1c.
    FYI mine doesn't come out that shiny either, not sure what going on there.

      Hey, mate. Im in Perth and Im only new to printing. I have an A1 and an X1C and am just getting into PETG and was wondering about the HS vs the standard stuff. Do you know if the Elegoo Rapid prints the same at standard speed? Im not used to printing at high speeds yet. Im looking to make cosplay pieces. Would you perhaps recommend the Pro instead for flexibility? Sorry for the bomb of questions...

    • @sunburst1484
      @sunburst1484 10 днів тому

      @AustralianWest if I was you I'd try both, I'd assume your printing some large things? So the rapid might come in handy but it all comes down to the part and the speeds required for better detail.
      I've used 4 rapid colours, white, yellow orange and grey, don't know if its a batch issue but grey has been the least impressive, while white has had near perfect results for my prints, just make sure you dry them.

    End of the day.. neither.. HF filaments are created by reducing the melt point, which negates 99% of the purpose of PETG. Here in FL I cant even use HF PLA, as even just taking it to my market booth in the shade, in any part of the the late spring/summer/early fall, it would soften and become pliable in peoples hands. HF PETG, can do the same as its glass transition temp is reduced to nearly that of PLA.

    • @TheMountainMaker

    Have tried 4 different PETG. Bambu HF, the previous Bambu PETG, Creality CR Series PETG, Overture PETG. By far the Bambu HF is the weakest (printed great... so major disappointment) Overture is tough but harder to print. Frankly liked the previous Bambu PETG better than Bambu HF. Overall have had the best results with Creality CR Series PETG. For reference have X1c, A1, and FLSun T1Pro. Really could care less what the brand is as long as it works. Use a variety of brands of filaments.

      Definitely had to do more tuning with the Bambu PETG-HF than I did with the Elegoo. In fact, I did one test on my P1P when I got it with Rapid PLA+ from Elegoo, and I have been printing with those same settings for almost a year between all my printers aside from the S1 Pro, that thing has settings entirely of its own that are better tuned for the speed. I do use Elegoo for 95% of the things that get printed in here, but always like learning, and getting to use new products.

  • @jonmayer

    • @TheMountainMaker
      @TheMountainMaker  15 днів тому

      The filament profile I used actually was calibrated for the Elegoo and is the same profile I use when printing in my shop. I simply used that same profile to print the PETG-HF, as the stock settings from Bambu Lab for the HF did not work with my A1 or P1P for some of the tests I performed, such as the sander holder, where the overhang is a bit tricky. The Elegoo, Bambu and Anycubic all performed great using the settings I have setup for the Elegoo, but the same part on the same machine using the Bambu PETG-HF profile does not come out great. I messed around with them a bit and finally decided to use the profile that I use for everything else and it worked great. If you haven't seen any of my previous videos, 95% of the filament I use comes from Elegoo.
