Thanks very much for this..John Maryn playing on the Renfrew Ferry I think in 1995- theres another upload of some of this performance.but this includes also 'solid air' from that night- brilliant - plus this is v good video quality. Much appreciated -Ian
@@jbojoify You're absolutely right: what I meant was the concert clip on the video, recorded on the Renfrew ferry, as it says at the end of the clip, BBC Scotland MCMXC (1990). I was at Kingston Polytechnic in 1970 when John Martyn played there. Great times!
@@jbojoifyl saw him in 73. He was more thinner and had more (curly) haïr. During this time, on his Martin guitar, there was a deArmond pick-up. It's the John Martyn from the very end of the 70's and probably the beginning of the 80's.
Ferry gig in '90 for sure. Was there....part of his entourage. Travelled from the hotel to the gig in a taxi with Billy Bragg & Edi Reader either side of me. Stuck in the middle of them holding the travel Monopoly board so the could keep the game going. 😂😂😂
Even tho you can see it on his face that he's a little pissed off to be performing in some kind of a dinner club, his guitar sounds like crap, but he casually rips through Easy Blues and Solid Air like a true legend he was
No tricks, no echoplex, just pure John....
Was lucky enough to see him perform live a good number of times, my fave artist since I was a kid (I'm 60 now), miss you so much man.
Damn he was good. The real deal, songwriter, singer and awesome guitarist. The mould was completely broken.
Master - glad he walked the earth and blessed us all.
John Maryn live on the Renfrew Ferry in 1995/? Brilliant.
So glad I got turned on to John amazing
FANTASTIC!!!
Reminds me of driving down a one lane road
Absolutely fantastic.
12 bar jelly Roll.....masterpiece
Love the solid air version - JM is so brlliant when he strips it right back to just him and a guitar
So much good John Martyn stuff on UA-cam!
I like his picking
I don't really know what to say it's that good
Wonderful, thank you!
Oh man I knew since longtime he was good but man he was sooooo good,, love this upload, thanks guy.

This is the Renfrew Ferry Glasgow. I am guessing about 1986 or 1987.
That's a new favourite version of solid air for me, how was John so good?
Those strings were tough
Cool

Just Szolid!!
Yes, thank you :)
Superb.
Unbelievable
What tuning? DaDGad.
Think it's D standard, same as "One day without you"
Seen him twice on the ferry .
Standard tuning I think. Played in #A. Great song. Old jelly roll Morton song.
This is a stonking good video, well hidden because of the less informative title :o)
