Close to shore at about 12 feet there is all kinds of fish. Kray fish and normal pond things. Then it drops off quickly and everything is on a slope that is hard to build nests on as it flows downhill. As a kettle hole pond with no inlet or outlet everything that falls in the pond ends up at the bottom. The silt layer is 7 to 8 feet deep and I am told that there is very little oxygen in the wa
Oxygen saturation in the water. There is a lot of decaying material, leaves, pollen, fish, birds, what ever fell in. As it decays it is generating methane and sulfur and other nasty compounds that normal pond life cannot live in.
John (Mayor of Walden Pond)- we met this afternoon briefly while in passing across the pond. It was lovely to meet you and thank you for this video!
Best 14 minutes of my life I'll never get back. 😎 Is a cool place. Surprising how deep it is for a pond.
It's technically a lake
@@chronicawareness9986 no. Its really a POND
Very interesting! Adds another whole dimension to the Walden Pond experience. Thanks for sharing.
That was great !!
Wish there were big fishes
some really older objects from the 19th century?
I think Thoreau would be happy!
Nice job diver!
I don’t doubt some awesome stuff is hidden at the bottom!
Thank you, that was interesting.
I enjoyed your video.
Thanks, I did appreciate it.
At what depth is the transition between clear water and the muddy hell? I thought about diving it but that looks terrifying.
At 40 feet is where it starts to get dark quick.
Deepest natural pond in Massachusetts
Very cool!
Im gonna head there w my ROV. Can reach 100m depth
Fascinating. Is it normal for a pond to be so devoid of life?
