@blackmuzzle :Okay you seem genuine in your use and capabilities of the synth. There are many who just jump the bandwagon because its cool. In the end if you really look at it, how many people can figure out that the sound in a song is from a so and so synth?
I concur.. Motif's acoustic sounds rock beyond measure.. so does the kurzweil PC3.. infact both synths now look kind of similar.. but xf is not much of an upgrade compared to the xs.. i was expecting more ..
@thereason10 Yeah I have an XS8 and I tried out an XF and it doesn't seem like it has much more to offer over it's predecessor. I'm looking to get a Fantom G6 for a lead keyset and to increase my voice repertoire.
@DallasTroy2007 There's more to just screen size, it's how well the machine performs. And maybe Yamaha doesn't want to immitate their compitition who knows. But when it comes to acoustic sounds Roland has alot to go to reach the Motif in that department.
Just came off the phone with Yamaha Tech Support and they too are having problems connecting the XS OS 1.6 with the PC windows 7 via the wifi router. There suggestion is using the crossover cable and connect directly to the PC, however that way you won't have net access on your PC because the PC only can accommodate 1 Ethernet port connection. I am so disappointed :(
Why not just get a a daw and get plugins?! I was a a hardware guy but after trying a few nice plugins, such as omnisphere and nexus, I am convinced that soft synths can sound just as nice as hardware (if not better)!! To each his/her own!! Motif's are nice though... I just don't know if they have the same flexibility as software!!
@jmarcop1 Yamaha added a fair amount of arpeggios and Phil Clendenen (with Yamaha) said the XF has a new effects engine. I agree with you that the Flash is mostly a moot issue where live performance is not typical use. Is it worth the difference? Unless the Flash is important, I would say no.
flash is the main reason people buy this lol, never mind the much bigger rom, arpeggios, better effects engine and dacs. Being able to load 2 gb of your own samples is amazing for sound designers and live players alike. i have a completely sampled cs 80, casio cz 5000, anx1, fender rhodes m5, and many other famous synths
Just tested the motif xf in the music store. Nice WS...however it seems quit cheap & anoying only to be able to buy "FW16E FIREWIRE EXPANSION IEEE1394 S-400 (393Mbit/s)" which is slower than USB2 (480 Mbit/s). Imagen that every Apple LapTop is now days supplyied with Firewire S-800. Is S-400(the stone age) enough? Do we need S-800? I would say No & Yes..fuk'n..yes. Yamaha customers need a new Firewire Expansion supporting S-800 in motif xf. Simple as that!
Buenísimo muy chevere 👍
Bravo man I really like your end song it was very impressive the way you played.
Great musician! Amazing workstation! Thank you!

@jmarcop1 If you use alot of samples in live performances those "cup holders" in the form of Flash are great. Handy during power glitches as well.
Me too, but luckily this review is in Japanese, AND it has subtitles too!
@jmarcop1 Yeah, but they are arpeggiated cup holders.

Kurzweil is a nice keyboard but they are all awesome. I ended up getting an MOX6 myself. But would have easily gone Kurzweil or Korg, or Roland!!!!
